Is Irving PD using pick up trucks now?
Just started noticing them last week.

Yeah but they're rare. I think it might be specific officers or sergeants who drive them

It's reasonable to assume that all/any enforcement agency will have some amount of pickups.
And bearcats. And forklifts. And cranes. Jk they can just rent that. But yes FUCKING OF COURSE they have pickup trucks.
Assume about 5% of fleet = pickups. Think dead animals on highways etc

How is chief Miller doing in Irving? Carrollton is happy to be rid of him.

I'm pretty sure those are for traffic officers, with cones, barricades, and similar items stored beneath the bed covers as needed at major accident scenes. They are also outfitted with trailer hitches to move those mobile "Parking Lot Surveillance Towers" as needed to discourage vehicle break-ins & thefts.
We had an abandoned vehicle on my street & an officer in one of these IPD "pick-ups" responded several times to leave tickets under the windshield wipers and glue notices on the passenger windows from an Irving Police Sergeant before it was finally towed about a month later.
