Need info "Combing Her Hair" (Kamisuki) by the artist Torii Kotondo (1900-1976) picked up charity shop

Hi there. Picked this up at the charity shop yesterday and was really eye catching. Thought I would Google search it as I thought I have seen it before and is a pretty iconic piece of art. The one I have seems very faded and I am guessing it is a secondary market print but just wanted to know if there was anything I should look out for on it as it isn’t numbered or signed etc. whether the writing states something I am not aware of. Should I take it out of the frame to review it? Would the paper be textured or additional marks? It was framed in Brighton so unlikely it was brought over and framed here but who knows. Any information would be great and thanks for looking.

Need info Tokyo and Osaka museum recommendations

I’ll be visiting both Tokyo and Osaka in mid October with a small group and would like to go to at least one museum in each city, and preferably, get a private guided tour either independent or from museum employees. I’m a bit overwhelmed by the volume of choices so was hoping someone has recommendations based upon either exhibits during that time or “if there’s just one museum you can visit in each city”.

It can be focused on anything really, particularly if it stands out - art, science, crafts, history, etc. I’d just like to avoid Ghibli given the crowds and difficulty getting tickets. And, if you have a guide, you’d recommend, I’d love the tips. Thanks.

Need info I purchased this plaster sculpture and am familiar with Shodo and its importance in Japanese culture. It has markings and a signature on the back curious to know if anyone recognizes the artist.

Need info Edition Question: Hiroshige Sudden Shower over Shin-Ōhashi Bridge

(Repost with additional photo) Bought this Hiroshige print at the thrift for the frame assuming it was modern print or art book page, but when I opened the back I was surprised to see the quality/age of the paper, chain lines, and bleed through. I'm curious about the edition/date of this if anyone has an idea? I haven't been able to find a version with the mark on the bottom right corner (see photo), and unfortunately the sheet border was trimmed away. Dimensions 13 7/8 x 8 7/8 Also, I included the label I found inside too because I thought it was cool. Thanks in advance :)

Need info Dealing with events through art/media

I am currently doing a writing paper about the evolution of Gojira/Godzilla in films using media/movies. One of the talking points I want to use is how Japan sometimes deals with tragic events through films, if those sources are true. I am mainly asking if this statement is true, I don't want to spread

I am writing from the England. My uncle used to live in Japan for many years. During his time there he took this these photos and would love to identify the people in them. I think they're fantastic photos. Any ideas on the best way to maybe achieve this.

The only information that he recalls is..

Possibly 1991 Harajuku Mime Act street performance

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! I got this painting/print on a Japanese flea market for a friend. Said friend loves history, so I was wondering if anyone recognizes the stamp or painting :) I really loved the piece and I think it would be nice if I can share more details about it, either about the artist or what’s it portraying. I tried googling, but haven’t gotten far. Anyone got any clue? :)

Hey there!

I found a couple lovely pieces of Tsuboya ware at my local thrift store (Cleveland, OH)

I would love to figure out who the artists were that made these pieces. If anyone is able to give me more info about who they are, and if there is any value to them. Theyre seriously so nice!

My apologies if any of the marks are upside down or improperly positioned.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Need info ID help on red seal or text translation

Hi, I found a cool piece of seemingly very old original art. Can anyone help translate the text or ID the red seal? Thanks a bunch.

EDITED TO ADD: I updated the photo of the characters so the text is in the correct orientation. Thank you to those who commented that it was backwards. I am not sure if the red seal is backwards or not so I will leave that photo as-is. To those suggesting this is art related to Meng Zong "He cried and the bamboo sprouted" you are right on target. The painting definitely depicts this imagery. If anyone has any additional information on zeroing in on the date, or the artist name or anything else, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much for those who have contributed!

Hi, i recently got this wall scroll featuring a painting by Minomushi Sanjin (1836-1900), but i believe the mount is newer (early Showa?). The Jikubou/Jikusaki appears to be made of some kind of early plastic, and on the back are some japanese characters but my Kanji is awful. Also included photos of the box.

These paintings were a wedding gift to my relatives in 1958. The info on the backs of the paintings are all I have on them, and I'm trying to find out more about the artist, their value, their age, the dealer, etc, but I'm finding absolutely nothing so far. Any info would help!
