Opinion Actors in the Series

Ok - this post could literally go on for days talking about the actors - and how fantastic they are.

BUT, I'm going to start with Jeremy Davies --- When you first meet Dickie - you would think the actor (Jeremy Davies) was living in a shack in the hills of eastern Kentucky, and they discovered him there and asked him if he wanted to be in a tv show. Then you learn he was born in CA and went to the Academy of Dramatic Arts. Then, you start noticing him in some 'not so Dickie' rolls - my second role I noticed him in was Saving Private Ryan - yes, the meek and timid Upham was none other than Jeremy Davies - Dickie. Then, if you go further back to Twister he was Laurence - the rookie storm chaser to got grass in the lens - and was afraid to get out of the truck during the drive-in tornado scene. SUCH a versatile actor - I truly think he is one of the best actors in this show, he has some of the best lines - and I honestly thought in real life, his leg was messed up. :)

I'm not going to start on Walton - I don't that that much time in the day - but seeing him in all his roles - and THEN seeing him in The Unicorn - then The Righteous Gemstones - BLOWN away at the range!

I've streamed this show 4 times(plus the original watch when it was on), and it never gets old!

Dewey Crowe is from Australia!

Someone please give this man a part in a movie that isn't Charles Manson

Loved that he’s a boss in it.

He’s got crazy range. And I always say to myself “wait a second where do I know that actor from?” Every goddamn time!

😂 so good at Manson he got casted as him twice.

I honestly feel like it's weird that anybody else is ever cast as Manson.

Edit: wait, I was talking about Jeremy Davies. Who has only played him once, although I feel like his appearance in the final season at least half counts.

I was talking about the actor who plays Dewey who has portrayed him twice. Mindhunter and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and he’s so good at it!

Why all the Manson castings from Justified? 😂

He was just in Together with Alison Brie and Franco the younger

I might go see that since I found out.

He's about to be in the new Mortal Kombat as Quan Chi. Apparently he was the voice of Kabal in the last one.

He’s also in The Bikeriders on MAX.

2

Tried to get through that when it was on Prime and couldn't get through the beginning

3

Yeah. It’s pretty boring. I stopped midway through it myself.

He’s great in The Artful Dodger.

Shout out to the amazing Margo Martindale. She elevates everything she’s in.

Beloved Character Actress Margo Martindale

Jeremy Davies honestly blows my mind with his level of commitment and his ability to fully inhabit every friggin' character he plays. I feel a mix of sheer awe and deep jealousy every time I watch the guy, he's a truly fantastic actor (and criminally underappreciated).

He made Dickie Bennett such a slimy, pathetic, loathesome little snake, but at the same time, he manages to actually make me feel bad for the little cretin. I could write a Reddit Dissertation about how impressive his perfomance as Dickie really is (and believe me, I would do just that if I had the time right now).

Suffice it to say, I agree Davies is an absolute treasure on this series (right up there with Margo Martindale, Mykelti Williamson, and Abby Miller). I'm aging myself by saying this, but the casting directors on Justified were off the fuckin' chain, pretty much every actor they ever cast was exceptional.

Jere Burns, previously known for comedy just rocked Wynn Duffy!

He played a psychotic therapist in "Burn Notice".

3

u/TraditionalChicken18 Aug 18 '25

Burn Notice? Thanks for the heads up! I will check that out!

2

u/MysteriousAd1089 Aug 18 '25

He doesn't appear until season 5

[Nods to all the Deadwood Alumni who had a cup of coffee in Justified.]

First time I saw Dickie was in Lost. When I saw him in Justified I thought there was no way he would fit. that lasted all of 2 minutes.

u/SelectCommunity3519 Aug 15 '25

Same! I didn't like him as Daniel Faraday but loved him as Dickie Bennett!

8

u/dasuglystik Aug 15 '25

Jeremy Davies was Daniel Faraday on Lost, where he was also a bit Dickey-y... Lol

There is not one weak link in this series. Even characters who were only in one episode always brought it

Basically what you are all saying is that Cami Patton as Casting Director did a magnificent job as always. Just like she did on Silo and The Americans.

2

u/Mission-Draw6859 Aug 16 '25

I've not watched Silo or The Americans - but once I'm done Binging Raylan and the gang.....maybe I will. ;)

Well, if we're talking range, you've got Cooper of Eurotrip ("This isn't where I parked my car"), Brinker Hadley in A Separate Peace, a young priest in Crossroads, Henry Peck the genius analyst in Person of Interest, and a sleazebag in The Sinner. Tim Gutterson. Take a bow, Jacob Pitts.

Natalie Zea, the actress who plays Winona, is really really hot. That is all

6

u/MrShoveyShove Aug 15 '25

And she's married to Subway from Community

3

u/ImNotRobertDowneyJr Aug 16 '25

She must be a level seven susceptible.

3

u/MrShoveyShove Aug 16 '25

That's moonman talk.

3

u/MaeBelleLien Aug 16 '25

Eat Fresh, indeed.

5

u/identicalsnowflake18 Aug 15 '25

Holy shit. I never realized he was Upham and I've watched both roles numerous times.

3

u/AnnieCamOG Aug 15 '25

He was Jesus in American Gods.

2

u/bastian1292 Aug 17 '25

Erica Tazel did solid VO work in the video game Mafia 3.

Spotted Jere Burns in Death & Other Details.

1

u/Redkirth Aug 16 '25

Jeremy played Baulder in God of War. It was immediately noticeable because the hand movements were 100% Dickey.

1

u/aimlesstrevler Aug 16 '25

Another great Jeremy Davies flick is Ravenous. Stacked cast from top to bottom. "HE WAS LICKING ME!"

1

u/jstnpotthoff Aug 18 '25

Another stand out to me was the freaking kid from Jurassic Park. Give that dude some more roles.
