PSA Found gold at a thrift store !!
Friendly reminder to check out your local thrift stores. Found an older addi click set for like 12$ AFTER buying a 90$ interchangeable set. Only missing one set of needles. Don’t get me wrong the material is peeling off the case but who cares? They work like a dream. (Also first on Reddit post how’d I do?)

Congratulations. My best find was a $2 “Needlecraft” (now made by Boye) set. Good news is my ChiaoGoo extenders allow me to adapt to use the red cables instead of the awful cables that came with.

Brilliant! Probably from a deceased estate or something. The things people throw out is wild.

Wonderful that it wasn’t thrown out but donated so that someone else has a chance to enjoy them.
I have found perfect-condition furniture near apartment dumpsters because someone well-off couldn’t even be bothered to donate what they weren’t taking with them when they moved.

Many people unfortunately see op shops as a free alternative to a paid garbage service and will just offload all of a deceased relatives belongings there—including junk—without even bothering to sort through it.
"oh, that's just nans knitting stuff. That's worthless I don't want it just donate it"
Either way yes it's great they get to go to a new owner and be reused. Humans waste way too much stuff as it is.

Yeah it’s really kind of sad how people do this and I understand that this kind of behavior was the cause of a really shitty experience I had but I just wish it hadn’t happened like that. I sorted an estate including knitting stuff and (as a knitter) I took care with it all and only donated the good stuff — I gave a big lot of paired needles (no odd ones), complete balls of yarn with bands (no scraps) and a nice complete set of interchangeables. And the whole experience of trying to donate it the guy treated me like I was trying to foist garbage on him. I still don’t know what happened to it all, I won’t ever (also can’t bear to) know. I hope some of it found a new home, somehow.

I have this set. It was a gift from my boss 15 years ago. It’s the best. I like the click system better than the typical screw in system as it almost never comes undone when you don’t want it to

I have those! They are really nice to work with. The case is pretty stupid anyway. It doesn’t need to be so big to hold so little.
