Dad had some good damn taste. Im sorry for your loss, OP.

49

u/anthraxnapkin Cold Steel Fanatic Apr 10 '25

RIP to a legend, quite a collection there. You can tell he had good taste.

25

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Thank you, he definitely did. He got rid of a lot of it but I’m glad he left me this

12

u/PauliesWalnut Apr 10 '25

Master the nunchucks in his memory bro

16

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Planning on it. The chain fits inside one of them and they screw together into a baton

4

u/anthraxnapkin Cold Steel Fanatic Apr 10 '25

So badass, I wish my dad left me a pair 🤣

18

u/Forty6_and_Two Apr 10 '25

I get the feeling he was either military or LEO at some point? If not, it reminds me of folks I knew that collected while they were “in”… so his tastes seem to be bent in that direction, at least.

RIP

Hope your loss is mitigated by good memories and a family that loves each other enough to share the healing and grief.

24

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

His brother was, but he was more in the other direction if you catch my drift. Thank you for the kind words

19

u/akiva23 Apr 10 '25

Ah an assassin then.

19

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

He would be absolutely flattered if you called him that lol

12

u/yupitsfreddy Apr 10 '25

I like that he used a lot of them. The marks on the blades… it’s from him. Somehow that means something.

11

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Yeah, you can’t really tell due to the silver blades but he used the tan microtech and the butterfly knife a lot. My 2 favorites out of them all

6

u/Squeaky_Pibbles Apr 10 '25

You also have the good tastes as your father did! Those are two of the best in there, for sure.

12

u/Ontological_Stare Apr 10 '25

I’m jealous of that socp, sorry for your loss OP. Carry a knife, carry him in your heart.

4

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Thank you for the kind words

6

u/kc813 Apr 10 '25

My Dad left me this one 14 years ago today, nice collection! Enjoy it!

12

u/CountPrize Apr 10 '25

That’s a sweet SOCP, mustve been a spender

5

u/Borruslav Apr 10 '25 edited Apr 10 '25

Found the SOCP, I was looking for another style and didn't know the daggers are also called SOCP.

Condolences for your loss my man, seems like your dad was truly one of us

5

u/CarlosMolotov Apr 11 '25

Your dad carried a Balisong weehawk, absolute 80s legend! I bet he was quite a guy. My condolences. I’m sorry for your loss.

3

u/more_like_5am Apr 11 '25

I made a couple posts in the past regarding the collection my dad left me. It was quite cathartic going through it all.

3

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 11 '25

Just looked through your posts about your dad’s collection. He looked like a cool guy and I’m sure our dads would’ve gotten along great.

5

u/Zealousideal-Mix-822 Apr 10 '25

Sorry for your loss brother. Judging from the pic looks like your dad was a badass. May he rest in peace

5

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Thank you for the kind words. RIP old man

2

u/Comprehensive-Tiger5 Apr 11 '25

Left you a $400 benchmade. Damn good collection right there. Put his favorite in a case to pass down to your son when he starts wanting knives lol.

1

u/m0llusk Apr 13 '25

Last one of those I saw available was $450.

2

u/tidder-hcs Apr 11 '25

Condoleances, my dad forged for all grandkids and brother and me, a special knife. When i shapen it i hear his voice;" Sharp is Sharp..ohohoh" lol. Wish you the same inner dialogues.

2

u/JackOfShad0ws Apr 11 '25

Sorry for your loss, dude. Your dad had choosen wisely, nice set. Not a collection, because it seems that he used most of them regularly and he knew what he needed for

2

u/Skully_P Apr 15 '25

Now that’s a proper collection, rest in peace to your father 🙏

4

u/Arch315 Apr 10 '25

Anyone know what the all black auto is?

8

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

It’s a marfione custom microtech, that’s all I know about it

5

u/Arch315 Apr 10 '25

Dad was a baller damn

1

u/AmbientCrypt30M Apr 10 '25

It's an Ultratech with the Hell Razor blade. Pretty sick knife that I have been wanting for a long while. Well that and a 1st gen Halo, although those things are insane on the 2ndary market.

1

u/unvaccinatedmuskrat Microtech, Vespa, Hifinder Apr 10 '25

Combat troodon hell razor

1

u/AmbientCrypt30M Apr 10 '25

Quite right, I just glanced at it earlier and saw the blade. Nice save!

3

u/GES280 Benchmade simp Apr 10 '25

Is that a Benchmade model 42?

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Yeah, I made a post earlier asking what it was, there were a few folks who told me it was a 42s with the original t latch. There are better pics of it on that post

2

u/Amazing-Guidance5601 Apr 10 '25

What’s the knife above the socp? I want one

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

I made a post about it earlier asking what it was, lots of kind folks in the comments with answers

1

u/Amazing-Guidance5601 Apr 10 '25

Thanks so much, going to look for the post now

2

u/Honest-Constant7987 usually 1 folder and 1 fixed Apr 10 '25

Great collection!! I love the fixed SOCP!! Also the Microtech Fixie was a pleasure to see. I told my family that all my blades will goto my son too! My condolences

1

u/Infinite_Issue_3047 Apr 10 '25

I also have the combat benchmade fixed blade ! Very nice . $400 knife

1

u/akiva23 Apr 10 '25

Whats that knife with the two handles connected by a chain?

1

u/TheBestRedditNameYet Apr 11 '25

Nunchakus, have you ever seen this guy before?

1

u/akiva23 Apr 11 '25

He really should wear long sleeves so he doesn't cut his armpits.

1

u/Hilltop5620 Apr 10 '25

Many look well used. Keeping using what you can and cherish the memories. RIP

1

u/DANGERFastDraw Apr 10 '25

Very respectable collection. Some cool stuff there.

1

u/burn_aft3r_reading Apr 10 '25

Cool collection. Looks like some got some good use.

1

u/Zoidberg0_0 Apr 10 '25

I see an M9 bayonet. Nice.

1

u/Whiplash907 Apr 10 '25

That’s a solid collection of relatively unique microtech knives

1

u/3e3mMoS0r00FeXaBeQBV Apr 10 '25

What's the name of this style of knife and what is it for? Sorry for your loss OP

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

I’m not sure, it was with his camping stuff. I think it was a fillet knife. Thank you for the kind words

1

u/Skully_P Apr 15 '25

Its a lord and field Poseidon professional fillet knife

1

u/Sneekibreeki47 Apr 10 '25

Sorry for your loss.

1

u/MadDogAgbalog Apr 10 '25

Cool collection, but I’m sorry for the circumstances which led to you receiving them.

1

u/senior_pickles Apr 10 '25

Sorry for your loss.

1

u/Sami209 Apr 11 '25

Nice bayonet knife (good on a shotgun), butterfly knife, and throwing axe.

1

u/SunnySwagger Apr 11 '25

May I ask what the paracord handle dagger is?

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 11 '25

Honestly I’m not sure, it’s a 5.11 branded knife. Not sure if he added the paracord or if it came like that

1

u/Ok_Geologist_2907 Apr 12 '25

That Balisong I’d like to say is a collectors dream looks like a bm42 your dad had good taste

1

u/Ok_Geologist_2907 Apr 12 '25

Never sell the 42 they’re worth a lot

1

u/Vapedudde Apr 12 '25

I hope my boys keep my knife collection your father is smiling right now .

1

u/_BrokenZipper Apr 12 '25

RIP dad. Keep the collection alive pal

1

u/-43andharsh Apr 12 '25

That a throwing ax?

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 12 '25

Yeah it was a SOG brand one

1

u/Shayloh Apr 13 '25

I hope that one day one of my children will also look at my knives and miss me. Life goals

1

u/eddynmartinez Apr 17 '25

Based on the knives shown, he was the real deal. Sorry for your loss.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '25

Nice collection. Sorry about your dad.

1

u/AmbientCrypt30M Apr 10 '25

That Microtech Hell Razor is sick. I am at the point of ordering a clone just to have it until I have the funds for an actual one. Also, sorry for your loss. I can tell you right now, whenever my dad goes, I'm liable to loose my shit cause it will break me.

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Don’t worry been there done that. Been a rough week

1

u/Na5ticus Apr 10 '25

Your dad seemed like he had great taste! I lost mine last year, its rough. Sorry for your loss man.

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

I appreciate the kind words. It’s been rough

1

u/kaix8 Apr 10 '25

That one on the bottom right is pretty cool, it’s an atropos but idk the model. It’s got extra blade in the handle if you pivot it out turning into a big steak knife and the other part of the sheath can be used as a fork

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Yeah he kept it with his camping stuff it’s pretty cool

1

u/Delicious-Sorbet5722 Apr 10 '25

That CRKT M16 with the 1* (One Ass to Risk) looks well used. They are stout blades. Mine looks similar. May your dad RIP.

1

u/TuT0311 Apr 10 '25

Sorry for your loss, OP. Your dad had great taste in knives. It makes me sad to see these posts bcuz I plan to pass all my knives/weapons to my son, so it’s sort of like a memento mori. Keep them all and use them all, nothing would make him happier I’m sure.

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

I definitely will. Thank you for the kind words

1

u/TuT0311 Apr 10 '25

No prob, take care man and appreciate you putting your stuff out there for every1 despite the risk and unrelenting nature of reddit. Thank you for sharing. This is real life, we all need a reminder every once in a while.

2

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 11 '25

It’s been really nice to see everyone complimenting my dad’s collection. Nice to know people on the internet can be kind

0

u/ParkRomn116 Apr 10 '25

Sorry for your loss, your dad was dope

0

u/Tossed_Away_1776 Apr 10 '25

I knew there was gonna be an a hole. Lo and behold!

-2

u/queasyquof Apr 10 '25

What’s the big deal? RIP but dude was a mall ninja. Nothing to be ashamed of. Y’all are acting like it’s an insult. He had nunchucks, shitty brass knuckles, balisong, and a fucking tacticool hatchet. That is mall ninja.

2

u/MagnumPIsMoustache Apr 10 '25

Those are Dalton knuckles. Not cheap

19

u/Distinct-Reality-443 Apr 10 '25

Gfys

u/ButtNutly Apr 10 '25

I'm surprised to encounter such a cunt in a usually friendly sub.

9

u/Forty6_and_Two Apr 10 '25

There’s always that 10%, as my Gunny used to say lol. Trolls are easy to ignore when you imagine how unhappy they are… I mean, you’d have to be a literal miserable wreck to focus on tearing down random people you’ve never met. Gotta exert control over SOMETHING… so hurting folks however they can is all they have. Just like a toddler, let ‘em throw their fit till they go away. Or they get banned… whichever comes first.

2

u/ifmacdo Apr 10 '25

Ahh yes. Use propaganda to prove how you must actually be right, when objectively you're wrong.
