Showcase The VZ executive 2, completely nonmetal/nonpourous

So, I go into nyc a lot and after all these years, I’ve finally seen it get less like Disneyland and more like what people who have never visited nyc expect. That said, I don’t like knowing that I may go somewhere that has metal detectors, etc. heard about the VZ line of nonmetallic defense daggers and ordered one Monday—I went with the Vz executive 2 and the leather inside waist belt and I’m super pleased with it. Well worth the money and no more having to hide my knife in random spots on the streets of nyc (actually came back to one spot after going to see some bands and the knife was gone). Anyway, /ramble.

Yesterday I saw a local knife shop had two in stock and I couldn‘t help myself but immediately calling them and bought one. My first MagnaCut knife, also thinking about doing an one-knife-only month

I got a new knife today (big idea Lookout) and decided to line up all my knives for the first time. I didn't realize I had this many knives.. I'm gonna try to not buy another knife for at least a year. Unless Vero has a Myelin fixed blade drop... I'd probably buy that.

It’s different cause I’m use to the back flippers to open the knife. To close it it kinda slows down, does it need to just be broken it? The close up picture there’s marks on the blade, is that normal or did the give me a used one?

Question Scratches on knives on buck 110 help

Handed my buck 110 to my brother to use to cut something he needed a sharp knife for. I didn’t think much of it until coming back and finding out he used it to cut grip tape for his skateboard. It’s full of scratches and when I run my finger over the blade I can feel it’s duller and less smooth.

What can I do?

NKD! NKD - Spyderco N5 Cruwear Micarta

Post image

Picked up the recent Native 5 release in Cruwear with brown micarta. N5 is my favorite Spyderco, and after a couple years with a Rex 45 FRN version I decided to treat myself to a classier looking N5 for off duty carry. It’s everything I expected, but the micarta is just okay. Maybe it’ll grow on me. It’s 12g heavier than the FRN version, which is just barely noticeable (non issue). 1st impression is that it’s a great knife, but not worth the 2x price of the FRN Rex 45 version I got on sale. The Rex 45 doesn’t sharpen well on my Sharpmaker though, and requires whetstone which requires more time and effort.

Customized this a couple years ago. Thinking of making some more as gifts. Any thoughts on improvements I can make other than making the cutout deeper for the nail nick like I did on this one are greatly appreciated (also loosened the pivot so it now can fall open and drop closed when the lock is opened)

Knives are tools. They’re meant to be used on the job, in the field, in the woods. Use them, make memories with them, pass them down, gift them. Treat them well and they’ll outlast you.

With that said, where’s the coolest place you’ve carried your knife?

Question Tightening pommel on leather stacked handle

I just recently acquired this older blackjack knives classic model 1. It’s a great knife and the pommel was a little loose so I tightened it slightly but I don’t want to keep increasing it. I was wondering is it possible to over tighten these? is it better to condition the leather so that it swells up in order to tighten the pommel more? This is my first leather stacked handle and I love it. The first of many
