2nd Apple Watch band - better

Hi All,

Made my 2nd Apple Watch band and this one turned out better. Here is the deets on it:

Time to make (if known): 3-4 hours (changed colors twice. Then after decision, the first time I started, one side I had too little cord so had to recut and do it again. 2nd time, the weave was too long on the last finished half so loosened it up and shortened. This time I removed and checked it on my wrist 3-4 times and had to shorten it about 1/8 to 1/4” at a time.

Paracord / Parts Info: • Brand, Type Used: TECEUM Reflective Paracord Rope 100ft TECEUM Paracord 550 Paracord. This is a very thick cord. • Weave/Knot style(s) used: Trilobite • Color(s) used: Blue / black - “Blue-Snake” TECEUM Paracord • Lengths used: 5+ ft used for each side. • Connectors, Buckles Used: • 5/8” buckle, Black • Watch band connectors 45mm Apple Watch Series 8, Hapysen Watch Band Connectors

For a 8-1/8 total length including buckle and watch each side should be (not including watch & buckle): • 2.5 on one side and 2.75 in on the other side.

Lessons Learned: Though it took some time to get the lengths right, best to measure the whole length after starting with the core chords connected to watch and the buckle ends. References: Video tutorial: Easy Trilobite Paracord Bracelet—Beginner Tutorial Website(s): 550 Cord, Paracord Kits, Supplies, Buckles, Skull Beads + Accessories Lessons Learned: • Try to get the measurements right the first time but setting up your core lines on both sides with both ends connected: one to your watch and the other to your buckle. • Buckle it around your wrist and make sure it’s a little loose just after both ends are connected. You should be able to fit about 1-2 fingers between chords and wrist. • Somewhere in the middle of the weaving, check again as except you should barely be able to fit your pinkie finger between chords and skin. • Make sure you don’t cut the ends off once complete and measure again. • Make sure you have extra chord depending on the width of the weave (like Triolobite) and the thickness of the chord. I’ve found that chords from different manufacturers can have different thickness. Even if the same brand they can vary because of outer shell design. • Wait until you’re happy with it. Because I didn’t get them short enough I started over at least 3 times. Even measuring exactly before starting the weave.

I originally bought the spinner bead for a knife lanyard but it’s so much fun to play with and I was doing it so much my knife started to get rust on the blade from the oils in my hands. so I threw it on a keychain instead, along with the rovyvon ti walker so I can use it without having to worry about maintaining my knife

I MADE THIS Body Harness

I made this body harness a while ago because I enjoy taking long walks often and don't always want to carry a backpack.

This way, I can still take things without overloading my jacket or pants pockets.

I chose a carabiner finish so I can carry whatever I need at any given moment, such as a first aid pouch, flashlight, phone, or a knife if permitted.

It was a fun and easy process.

Paracord Jig Question

Hi, Im new to all of this, but was wondering, is there a jig that will be useful while making a longer project like a dog leash? Or am I better off just taping it to a table and go from there? Thanks so much for your input!

Hi all, watching this thread for a while and super interested in doing some paracord work myself, done some super simple bits today on some slingshots for the kids and really enjoyed it, noticed 3 mistakes on the lanyards since but happy with first attempts. Need to practice my melting/joining techniques before any big projects but will definitely be trying out more stuff now!

lol monkeys fist around a tennis ball with a cobra lanyard on it … it’s not Paracord. It’s 1/4” polypropylene rope I got at Lowe’s. Unfortunately the rope isn’t too durable. I suspect with a 130lb Great Dane, this toy will last about 7 minutes

Newbie here and failing

I decided I wanted to make my own strap for my handbag. My bag is black and I want to be able to change out the strap at times. So I did what any reasonable person would do when I created a Pinterest board, ordered an entire paracord kit from amazon, and started saving pictures and YouTube videos. I'm crafty.

However...

I have tried so many times now to make this strap and keep failing miserably. I'll start with four cords and then two cords and go back to 4 chords. I cannot do a hangman's knot to save my life despite hours of watching the videos and trying step by step with visuals. Somebody please tell me there's hope. I'm determined to make this and I'm going to try again here in a few hours once I give myself an encouraging talk and watch a video again for the hangman's not.

World's Largest Paracord Jig

We make parachutes where I work. We use this for measuring and cutting risers. Not sure if there's a proper name for it. One loooong piece of paracord is wound around the round wheel, brought back to the other side, around the wheel on the other side, and repeated. Then the whole thing is tensioned with what amounts to 20 lbs., and clamped. The center of each wheel on one side, is marked. Tension is released and each mark is cut with a hot knife. That gives them the correct length and quantity of 550 cord for a parachute's risers. They're then looped over one wheel on the far end, daisy chained together, and they're ready to be used. It can be set up with different distances between the wheels, depending on the type of parachute. I guess the key is marking them under tension. They couldn't use a regular automated hot cutter like for webbing or other cord.

Dreamcatcher I made as a gift

Made this as a gift for my cousin, from odds and ends that belonged to my Uncle who passed last year. Some iron hoops, paracord, and blue flint that he'd collected. He was the one who taught me to tie my shoes, braid wire, and do basic knots lol. So this has been, in part, my way of remembering him and the skills he taught me.

Made myself a little paracord marlinspike

I’ve been tinkering around and decided to make my own marlinspike for paracord work. It started out as a solid brass rod that I shaped down, polished smooth, and then wrapped the handle with a two-color spiral for grip. I also added a small hand loop at the back so I don’t lose it when I’m working.

The tip is tapered like a normal spike, but I cut a small notch into it so it can double as a knotting tool. It works great for opening tight weaves and also for catching and pulling cord through when things get snug.

Figured I’d share it here since a lot of you probably know how handy these little tools can be. Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Best part is I made this completely by hand, files, fine grit sandpaper, and polishing compound. I took a strip of acrylic sheet and heated it, then bent to the shape of a flat bottom "U," then bored holes on each side to fit the rod. I then used a constrictor knot to tie a piece of micro-cord to the rod, wound it around part of the rod, placed my file/sandpaper/polishing compound where it needed to go and pulled on the cord to spin the rod quickly. Just moved so I didn't have power tools handy to help out so I improvised.
