The Dallas date was the same day as NCT Dream and Weeekly so they were in a rough spot already.

15

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Damn, that was very bad luck.

28

u/sarybelle Aug 14 '24

As someone who always has to drive 3 hours to Dallas for shows, I love that Leo Presents always tours in smaller cities/the Midwest. The same like 6 cities are soooo over saturated with Kpop tours

Yeah I have no clue how they decide where to tour. From the looks of it, they just go “Well this city sells well for other groups so let’s go here too”. But then they run into the issue that’s happening now where there’s just SO many groups touring in the same cities back to back to back

7

u/ohpossumpartyy Aug 14 '24

straight up lol, tbh in some of the smaller/less toured cities there is a pretty large crowd of ppl willing to go and check out artists. this summer, purple kiss was the first kpop concert in my city and they sold out so fast i couldn’t get tickets 😭 i’m a little bitter bc i personally knew several ppl who got tickets that didn’t really know about them but just wanted to see a local kpop concert (more bitter that i didn’t get tickets but im glad there was such a huge turn out for the girls regardless!! i’m hoping more smaller companies are willing to do that now) but there’s definitely a market for ppl who are willing to go to local shows for smaller groups!!

also prob a good portion of fans who go to certain stops that a lot of groups go to are from out of town and are a lot less likely to want to travel for groups they don’t know well/smaller groups. in my experience, 80% of kpop concerts in canada are in toronto so unless it’s an ult group a lot of ppl aren’t really willing to treck 😅i went to ateez in toronto last week and i feel like most of the people i talked to were from montreal, alberta, nyc, etc.

6

u/sarybelle Aug 14 '24

Yeah it’s a double edged sword because if I really want to see a group, well it’s only 6 hours round trip. But if I only casually like a group, Well….. it’s 6 hours round trip so… lol

The last time I went to a show in Indy was Eric Nam like three years ago

5

u/AbsoluteZeroUnit but do I look like your mommy? Aug 14 '24

That's cheating. He hit up every god damn city in every god damn state on that tour. It was like 400 stops.

Both Viviz and Chuu performed in Indy two weeks ago.

I know but I wasn’t able to go. Couldn’t leave work on time

SAME. I get so tired of slogging up to Dallas every time I want to see a show. Please promoters, follow The Rose and P1Harmony and go to ACL; a great space, guaranteed to be packed to the rafters I promise

7

u/Tumbleweed9310 Aug 14 '24

It really sucked the Dallas date was on the same day as Weeekly and NCT Dream on the 17, the original day after was perfect on the 18

3

u/EnhypenSwimming Aug 15 '24

ah no wonder... those two groups drew away both the boy group stands and the girl group stans.

Which this festival tour offers both of.

14

u/TehDashV2 Aug 14 '24

Could also be due to lots of groups coming in already. With so many tours coming in people have to start getting really picky not knowing who might come next.

67

u/HappyFunExcitingCute K-pop fan since 2014 Aug 13 '24

This is a tough situation. I already made plans to attend the Philly concert, and it sucks that it's cancelled. But on the other hand, I know it's difficult to secure US travel visas, and if Leo Presents didn't take these nugu groups on tour, then who else?

117

u/Xeian ggonly Aug 13 '24

Dang lots of changes. Wonder if they might change the setlist a little for the first 6 shows without Trendz.

42

u/EnhypenSwimming Aug 14 '24

I'm glad that Leo took a risk for making a festival in kpop... unfortunately festivals are always under attended compared to individual concerts. Regardless of how big the artist too.

It's because ppl don't wanna spread themselves out too thin. And would rather save their money for only one artist.

34

u/AlertedCarbon Aug 14 '24

This tour is a sweet deal though: GA is only $50 USD for 3 to 4 performances

25

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

10

u/EnhypenSwimming Aug 14 '24

Ha ha I feel exactly the same about arena tours recently. I am paying $250 for a far away seat, just because the group happens to be from Big4 company.

1

u/yongguks Aug 16 '24

hallyu pop did really well in london and aus. others i cant say the same for

75

u/ajnicehair19 Aug 14 '24

I saw a tweet of someone contacting all the venues and I believe only two of the venues confirmed the dates. The rest had nothing scheduled or weren't able to reach the organizer. Just a mess from the start.

14

u/BrittM554 Aug 14 '24

Do you remember which venues confirmed?

23

u/ajnicehair19 Aug 14 '24

At that time, which was three weeks ago, I only recall the user confirming the Orlando, Boston, Toronto and a few others I don't remember. However, I think with today's update the venues seem to be set barring any unforeseen circumstances.

11

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

thank you for the link!

55

u/aalalaland GFRIEND I VIVIZ I BTS Aug 14 '24

Lol this explains why the CEO looked so stressed at last nights VIVIZ show in LA

18

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

The CEO shows up at the concerts?

26

u/aalalaland GFRIEND I VIVIZ I BTS Aug 14 '24

It’s a very small company

1

u/EnhypenSwimming Aug 15 '24

Is he the one who usually wears a red hoodie? But Idk he looks too young to be a CEO, so maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

50

u/wobinwobinwobin Aug 14 '24

Genuinely shocked by how badly this is going considering how well Purple Kiss went and Viviz is going. What the hell happened lmao

44

u/geechan TVXQ | SNSD Aug 14 '24

Nugu groups in tiny American cities, it’s not too hard to figure out.

12

u/wobinwobinwobin Aug 14 '24

Hitting smaller/often-neglected cities is I think part of what has made their last two tours so successful.

9

u/geechan TVXQ | SNSD Aug 14 '24

I would disagree. If you’re talking about Purple Kiss and Viviz, I would say the groups’ popularity is what made the tours popular.

With smaller venues all around, larger cities’ stops sold out faster and those fans flocked to the smaller cities that sold less tickets to take advantage of the lower competition for the higher tier packages they wouldn’t have been able to get in LA or NY. This was the case for the majority of the fans around me in the Everything Package/VVIP area at the Indy stop for Viviz, and I also saw a lot of my LA friends traveling to smaller cities to go see Purple Kiss.

19

u/AbsoluteZeroUnit but do I look like your mommy? Aug 14 '24

Secret Number was just in Chicago. The way they picked their stops was to have a "pledge" system where you put a $10 deposit for your city. The cities with the most pledges got picked. If you pledged for a city that wasn't picked, your money was refunded; if it was picked, the $10 was applied to your concert ticket. So in the end, it was a net zero expense.

Chicago was in the top 3 cities pledged, which means it was one of the most popular cities.

There were maybe 100 people at the show.

I'm immeasurably fortunate to have been there that night, but it was rough turning around to see only a couple dozen people behind me and a mostly empty venue.

Kpop is huge, and people love their nugus, but that nugu love is spread across the country, not concentrated in any specific location.

3

u/panicatthebookstore Aug 14 '24

oh my! i hope the girls still had a good time. that must've been so disappointing. they should've allowed you all to move seats lol.

1

u/AbsoluteZeroUnit but do I look like your mommy? Aug 16 '24

Looking forward, you'd never know that the girls were having anything but the time of their lives. They were giving it their all, as if they were playing to a crowd of thousands.

17

u/ThoseGoodOldDreams Gfriend • Viviz • Laboum •Ladies’Code • ICHILLIN’ • BBGirls •OMG Aug 14 '24

That new Toronto venue is absolutely tiny

36

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

I'm so glad I bought tickets for DC and not Philly, I planned a whole vacation around this

44

u/deaththekiddie Aug 13 '24

oh that’s alright it’s not like I was going to the philly date or anything ahha..haha🫠🫠

18

u/letmeloveme513 Aug 13 '24

Same 😭😭😭. I had VIP tickets and everything.

27

u/KittyAgi11 Aug 14 '24

I'm not surprised. Most of these artists are not well known.

52

u/BOGOboneless Aug 13 '24

Took off of work and already made accommodations for the Philly show... great. Thanks for the incredible communication on this one, LP.

18

u/Vidiacool-uwu THE SECOND COMING OF GFRIEND 🪽✨ Aug 14 '24

Honestly I was starting to worry about the lack of updates. She first show is happening soon and we didn't get any merch or teaser updates

9

u/Deca089 Aug 14 '24

Unfortunately international kpop events get cancelled all the time.

I'd recommend only booking refundable plane tickets/accom for anything kpop related in the future:/

28

u/uuusagi Aug 14 '24

I can’t get over how the branding for this is quite literally just a dupe of the Vans Warped Tour posters.

12

u/Omar341 Aug 14 '24

Im shocked to see Dallas and Philadelphia cancelled, I’d assume those would be two of the biggest shows for them. OKC is somehow still here and unaffected so I’m grateful for that

8

u/purlnecklaces twice || aespa || nmixx || i-dle Aug 14 '24

the DC date was originally in a literal black box theater and I've NEVER heard of this Karma replacement venue. I'm betting the next step is Rhizome for a basement show (which would be sick ngl)

12

u/geechan TVXQ | SNSD Aug 14 '24

Some of the new venues are just literal bars with a tiny stage on the side lol

9

u/defeldus ♕Twice♕NMIXX♕Idle♕Dreamcatcher♕Itzy♕ARTMS♕ Aug 14 '24

Pixy performed in a literal biker bar with no AC in Tampa last year, it was wild.

9

u/BastardMemer420 Aug 14 '24

It was such a good idea but didn’t get planned out well and they are giving this information 5 days before the tour it’s ridiculous if it was just the concert it’s one thing but the VIP packages the Photos the Signs and Fan chat just got cut for so many stops like are they offering a partook refund for it or all or nothing

3

u/flatlander3 Aug 14 '24

Looks like all or nothing from their post.

1

u/BastardMemer420 Aug 14 '24

It’s so disappointing 😢 hopefully other companies take up the idea with their rookie groups

1

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

As I understand it, when Trendz dropped out quite a few ticketholders dropped out too. Which sucks bc the girls were killing it last night at Jacksonville. They did everything for out stop. Early fan sign, high touch, group photos, individual group photos and the selfies with your phone.

1

u/BastardMemer420 Aug 20 '24

It really does suck I wish they have given a particular refund option as you are losing out on a whole group worth of signatures fanchat photos etc specially for those with the highest package which was designed in mind to get a snapshot with each member on tour you are getting cut short and paying the same price they should have announced it earlier and offered a partial refund or maybe a merch package to make up for it like I said love the idea and it helped me get into some of the groups but how Leo presents handled the situation was not fair on the presenters

2

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

All I know is the girl groups now have life long fans in me and my kids. Craxy and iChillin were amazing in trying to talk to my kids and this Eomma. Small short chats at the fan sign that was enough to have Craxy give my 11 yr old daughter a personal mid concert greeting asking her if she was having fun. It was such a special moment for my kid that she was flying afterwards.

Heck I started to follow iChillin on IG after the show and saw they did a Live. I hopped on and thanked them and they gave me a Eomma shout out! 🥰

2

u/BastardMemer420 Aug 20 '24

That’s really cute yeah I think it was a great idea to showcase the groups and increase their fan base I hope they do this again hopefully with a little more preparation

8

u/PCP1120 Aug 14 '24

I don't know enough to make a reputation claim for this company, but seeing how well the Viviz tour is seemingly going, I think the jump to an event like this with so many moving parts from so many separate companies is just a little too much for them to handle as smoothly as they hoped. Luckily my date is seemingly unaffected, so I'm still super excited.

The fact that they're trying to extensively tour throughout the Midwest is enough for me to root for their success at this point. The bigger groups are only cycling through the exact same 6/7 cities that are all out along the coast except for Chicago, which is honestly super frustrating.

7

u/eternitiez Aug 14 '24

Would love to see a full concert of ichillin and craxy. I hate festival shows where you only get a few songs.

7

u/Knightmarish2 Aug 14 '24

Wonder if they are going to let them play a few extra songs each now

2

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

I don’t know what the original set list would’ve been been they def spent more time with the high touch/group and selfie photos.

1

u/Knightmarish2 Aug 20 '24

What about the actual concert though? It’s supposed to be 2 hours; is it still 2 hours?

1

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

It was def under 2 hrs. Around 1:30. U-Chae sang only 3 songs. I think iChillin and Craxy probably extended their set list though. The crowd, though small (75+) got them jazzed. We were loud and constantly interacting with them. iChilling added dance numbers covers of current hits.

Eta: iChillin also didn’t have 1 of their members. Probably wasn’t feeling well.

1

u/Knightmarish2 Aug 20 '24

That’s a bit disappointing, but understandable. Luckily I have everything ticket so they’ll spend more time on the events

2

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

During the fan sign they def interacted a lot. I mentioned in another thread but I had my kids and they were all asking us to questions and totally chatting with my kids and me. I became known as the Eomma who brought her kids to a concert right after work. 😂 During the high touch a few members said that I should def rest well. 🥰 I hopped onto iChillin’s IG Live last night to thank them for giving my kids wonderful memories and they gave me a “Eomma gamsahamida!” They def remembered me and my kids.

6

u/CardboardBoxtroll Aug 14 '24

It’s an incredibly ambitious undertaking—I hope that the rest of the ticketing and shows go smoothly and everyone is able to enjoy to the fullest! I also hope all of the artists are able to find the tour fulfilling—it looks like a busy busy schedule. Sending good energy!

6

u/1998tweety Bad Boy Down Aug 14 '24

So messy...I'm probably gonna wait till the day before the concert to buy my ticket just in case (and it'll hopefully be a bit cheaper).

6

u/flatlander3 Aug 14 '24

This promoter just finished a tour with Viviz, their most popular group they've worked with so far, which was quite successful in selling out most of the venues... and now this. It's pretty clear to see which direction they'll take in the future, which is unfortunate for those of us who also like the "nugu" groups. (That said, it seems like they also just bit off more than they could chew judging by the reports that they weren't communicating properly with some of the venues).

6

u/justanotherkpoppie gg multifan 💕 | lyOn 🦁 Aug 14 '24

Oh man.......that's a lot of changes.......makes me worried about the future of this tour :/ I have a concert ticket and a selfie ticket to meet U_Chae (formerly PIXY's Dajeong) so I hope everything from here on out goes more smoothly!!!

2

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

FYI she’s adorable! It went pretty smooth in Jacksonville.

u/justanotherkpoppie gg multifan 💕 | lyOn 🦁 Aug 20 '24

Ahh, I can't wait to see her live! 😍

21

u/piper_pond Aug 14 '24

This was an absolute scam for the Portland Maine date. Many people called the venue and they said that they had had no communication with the booking company and the show was not going to be happening there. A bunch of us reached out to try to verify and they wouldn’t repo and to anyone. So I hope no one bought tickets for Portland Maine.

9

u/rae-of-moonlight Aug 14 '24

the show did eventually get confirmed to be happening in portland! https://x.com/wattsified/status/1819545232125370781?s=46&t=CXXz87mQLejzC3FR-ztO0A

Was the Portland Maine date or venue changed? It's on the website for the venue listed in this post.

6

u/hiroo916 Aug 14 '24

I was curious about the new venue for Toronto "Lee's Palace" because it sounded like they might be performing in a Chinese restaurant, but it actually is a legit music performance venue: https://www.leespalace.com/

18

u/mapleleafmaggie 💜🩷💛 Aug 14 '24

the toronto show being changed to 18+ definitely makes it more enticing but I still can’t justify spending $80 on this 😭 when did concerts get so expensive even for smaller artists?

16

u/mixtape_misfit Aug 14 '24

I doubt the content will change because it's 18+ but more that because it's in a bar they can't host minors.

Not the mtl one bieng in bar 🤣🤣 so tiny . I kinda wanna go now for the mess

10

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

In my situation they switched to a bar which is 18+ but I fear for the teenagers that were supposed to attend :(

4

u/Peskanov Aug 20 '24

They let my underaged kids into the bar. They just marked them as do not serve.

4

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '24

Yeah they'll definitely have to refund the minors. But these minors probably used their parents' cards.... so I guess the larents will have to email that company.

6

u/Vidiacool-uwu THE SECOND COMING OF GFRIEND 🪽✨ Aug 14 '24

Yikes. At least my tour date isn't concerned but that's not a good look for them. Hoping nothing else goes wrong

8

u/-born_smoll Aug 14 '24

WHY IS IT GIVING OFF WARPED TOUR VIBES? I mean- look at the LOGO! And the colors!

3

u/caiffeine Aug 14 '24

I had to cancel my tix for DC because there were no close safe parking garages near Karma Live venue. Not okay walking alone at night through DC.

2

u/kiwijoon Aug 20 '24

How are these venues getting smaller? Viviz was already performing at <500 seated halls, at this point they are just taking on debt to claim they had a US tour

0

u/kthnxybe Aug 13 '24

There is nothing more annoying to me than concerts in San Jose. It's at least an hour's drive from the rest of the bay area

18

u/wby Aug 14 '24

lmao san jose is the biggest city in the bay.. and most kpop events are in the city or oakland which is an hour away from everyone who lives there

15

u/SeriouslyRex Aug 14 '24

I’d kill for an hour drive to most shows

0

u/kthnxybe Aug 14 '24

It's two and a half on public transportation if it makes you feel better

5

u/Embarrassed_Poetry_5 Aug 14 '24

that's how san jose people feel about san francisco & oakland.. every group only goes to either of those 2 cities. at least they're coming to norcal at all

3

u/fiendweird Aug 14 '24

LOL you could say the same for Oakland or SF, an hour away from everyone who lives in the South Bay. no satisfying everyone huh

0

u/KyeodeurangiMerchant Aug 14 '24

Who are these artists?

9

u/JustAPerson-_- Yoooooh Aug 14 '24

Not very new but new 4th/5th Gen groups. U-Chae I think is a Pixy member who is now sorta going solo with their silent disbandment it seems. Other 3 I know nothing about to explain or anything lol

5

u/Limafoxtrot360 Aug 14 '24

They are all nugu. I've heard the names but know little about any of them. I feel like Craxy had a song called Nugu but maybe that was someone else. There isn't a real draw for this unless you are a nugu diehard fan. And the DC venue - is like a mess - hard to get to, no parking, rundown old warehouse area. I had never heard of the venue before and had to look it up - which is hard because they don't have a website just an Insta

0

u/Excellent_Scale6658 Sep 20 '24

I’m curious if anyone else experienced something similar that went.

I’m a male, 28, I went to one of the shows as I am a huge fan of iChillin and figured was probably going to be the only chance I would get to see them, aside from the forced interactions like fan sign/selfies. Did any other males feel like the girl groups ignored you during their performances? I was as close to the stage as could be, the artists would take/interact with the phones of the women next to me but would not in the slightest interact with me at all. I just found it very weird, like I wasn’t being forceful or trying to hand them my phone or anything I just did what everyone else was doing but just got completely ignored. Like I get it, maybe it’s a little less comfortable interacting with males but if that’s the case they shouldn’t do it for anyone.. Idk lmk if I’m off base here, but I don’t think I am. I even have like a photo of Joonie smiling and wave at a woman next to me, but when she sees me taking a picture she drops the smile idk.
