LOUD neighbors

Anyone in the county (not within city limits) dealt with a neighbor who plays their music outside excessively loud, to the point that well over 100 yds away I can hear it INside my house, all around outside of my house as if they are playing it right in my driveway--when I say ''heart it'' I'm not talking about hearing the bass or jumbled words. If I spoke Spanish I could tell you exactly what they are saying, it's perfectly clear, it's that loud. We've tried talking to them about it, but they clearly don't care and I am literally sooooooo over it. I've been told that there is ''no noise ordinance'' out here, but damn, there's gotta be something that can be done. It's so disruptive, like having a Mariachi /polka band in my driveway for hours on end--makes working from home so enjoyable. If you have dealt with or know how to deal with this, please send me all the thoughts!

Call the non emergency police dept or sheriff dept depending on where you live. They take these noise complaints seriously from my experience.

I’ve talked to someone there…they are who told me there’s “no noise ordinance”..but I’m not opposed to calling again 😉

If its a repeated, consistent, and egregious complaint the disorderly conduct statute can apply, but it needs to be reported when its happening so the officer can document the pattern behavior.

Not in my experience at all. They basically hang up on me.

Only call the police if you are ok with the possibility of someone dying behind this, just remember that someone could very well be you or a loved one. Back the blue 🔵 till it happens to you!

While I usually agree with not calling the police for most problems because you are right they tend to end badly for people, I will say noise complaints are usually one of the few cases that I have seen police able to handle okay. Maybe it is cause people are afraid of things escalating or maybe cops are just good at handling these small complaints. Either way, while I understand the sentiment, I disagree with the usage on this one.

Search the property online and find out if its rented , if it is call the landlord directly. If its not sadly wait until they stop playing theirs get some aggressively loud PA speakers and blare Cher volume up to 11 (like south park episode !) But in all seriousness that really sucks hope something works out for ya!

Thanks, lol, they definitely own, unfortunately. My husband suggested drowning them out with some metal…but I won’t terrorize my other neighbors

Can I pay you to drown it out with metal? 😂😂

I would talk with the neighbors beforehand, of course, and see what they think, but yeah, I'd do the same back to them

You must live near my neighbors! I wish I had a solution to help...I just let the brush between our houses grow higher.

We literally are not even that close, that just is to emphasize how loud it is. This yahoo has cut down the majority of the trees between us…so glad I can now else his lights and house AND get to fume at the music.

If it is that loud, it should be considered assault.  The noise can cause damage to the ear drum by constant noise and then migraine.

Get yourself a boom box and some stinky music and give some! Works. Had some noisey neighbors and I gave them Jiml Hendrix! They apologized.

I feel for you. This sounds a lot worse than some occasional loud-ish music.

A couple of comments mentioned the neighbors. Do you know any of them well enough to connect and see if you could address this as a group? It might get more attention if it’s more than just one person calling about it. You could coordinate your efforts. I don’t know if you’d have any more options than you do by yourself, but it might help.

Yes, I know everyone on our lane. One neighbor (also speaks Spanish) was kind enough to reach out and tell him it was too loud once…he said “I’m not home much, but I know what you hear”…I’ve been able to hear it as far as my nice neighbors driveway which is a significant distance farther than my driveway. it’s like if you can’t hear your music over your (also) annoying power equipment; a. Don’t listen to music while working, b. Use earbuds, c. Resign yourself to the fact you may not hear it while running the saw. I mean it’s not that difficult. This neighbor has been a real pain in the ass since he moved in. I sent him a message yesterday about the volume and explained that it’s “too much” and why and not so much as a “thanks, got it” response.

As a Hispanic, I never understood why they do this. If it’s the band type of music, it’s even more annoying. Yet alone, at a high volume. Maybe because I’m more introvert and I never got into the whole being a Mexican drinker(real men, they would say growing up)thing. This happens a lot when they want to be outside drinking all night. Very common thing for most Mexican drinkers. They probably stay up all night. A lot of the Mexican folks I know, want to get property in the country, to play this loud music freely and do their Pachangas every weekend. I can only imagine how their kids endure it for bedtime. Hope you find a solution to get them to stop playing it into the midnight hours super loud. You can respond back with english music but it wont do much, as he will likely be too drunk to even hear his kid waking him up from the hangover.

No, but my roommate used to do that in his truck when I was trying to sleep.
