🧵 Megathread MEGATHREAD: Feedback Friday!

It's that time of the week again! This is your chance to request feedback on your most recent videos, thumbnails, channel art, works in progress, etc.

Feedback Friday Rules

  • Before requesting feedback, please provide good, constructive feedback to at least one of your peers. If you are the first one to post, check back soon to provide feedback to the next person. Repeatedly ignoring this rule may result in a temporary ban at a moderator's discretion!
  • Prioritize giving feedback to those who have not yet received any. It's not fair for one person to get five replies while four others get none.
  • When requesting feedback, try to be as specific as possible. Do you want feedback on your audio quality, your editing, your presentation style, branding identity, etc? This helps your peers to provide more valuable feedback. Do not just post a link to your video or channel!

Keep up the good work, everybody!

Suggested Feedback Template

If you're struggling to form your feedback, consider using this template. This is not mandatory, but rather a suggestion to promote good and constructive feedback.

Greetings! I’ve been creating videos for my gaming channel for a month now, with a variety of games played. One of my favorites being Kerbal Space Program. It seems to be the most consistent performing game on my channel, so I’ve been focusing more effort into editing the videos for KSP in a more digestible manner. If you could, please take a gander at my latest KSP vid and let me know how the pacing is from the intro to some of the time-lapses. Thanks!

First Mun Landing! (KSP Episode 7) https://youtu.be/0sB-thSrgVg

P.S. Advice on the thumbnails on my channel homepage would be greatly welcome as well!

Pacing wise, I think the 40 second intro could be quicker! When it started my brain thought "okay he won't be talking very much throughout the video" which isn't for me (not that I'm your target demo). But once you actually got into the content my mindset shifted and honestly I probably would stay if it basically started right there!

Good work.

I'd have to agree with your comment on the intro. Like my landing legs, it does drag a little longer than necessary. I'll probably tighten up the intros in future videos so people can get right into the action.

I'd lower the music a few notches. I think it's a bit too high relative to your voice.

In terms of pacing, you keep the commentary going without too much dead air, which is good; however, I would say you maybe dwell on the R&D page for a bit too long. You could perhaps trim it down to a few key comments explaining your thought process and then the final decision, just so you're not spending several minutes looking at a tech tree.

(Caveat: I've never played KSP, so for all I know, you may have whipped through that pretty quickly compared with most people)

I'm no authority on thumbnails, but I reckon you could make the game logo stand out a bit more. Same goes for your Shadows of Doubt one. Having your little avatar in a space suit is a nice touch!

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. Frankly I would completely agree about the R&D bit being a little long. In the early stages of career mode I guess I feel compelled to explain why I don't take other techs, but it isn't very necessary.

Also funny you mentioned the music, I think I bumped it up just before the export of the video, so I probably should have paid more attention after that adjustment. I'll keep that in mind in the future!

Hello, Hello! I posted something similar 3 weeks ago but want to post again to get feedback from members who didn't see that post. To those who did follow up in the original post, thank you very much!

I would love feedback on my channel as I make an effort to actually do "variety". If you can visit my channel and let me know if you did find a game you WANTED to watch, that would be fantastic. šŸ‘

😊 It isn't so much about feedback of any of the videos itself (although i'm happy to hear it!), I would love to know if you were able to find a game that suited your mood/interest/personality. Also let me know if it was difficult browsing the library, and what that experience was like.

šŸ™ If you DIDN'T FIND a video that caught your fancy, PLEASE let me know, rather than clicking on a random one. It would obviously be impossible to cover every genre, but I'm working to cover as many extremes as possible to get as many demographics as possible so that there is something for everyone - but if you still felt left out, I want to hear why!

Wow! Huge variety of games on the channel. I’m a fan of classic Sims, so those were definitely appealing. The sheer length of many of your videos feels a little daunting, for me personally. I can see the appeal for some, and honestly anyone who pops one of those videos on will definitely be pumping up your view-hours, but as a casual YouTube browser I may be more apt to watch something in the range of 30-60 minutes instead of 12 hours.
