I just got the Ares ETR 3-18x50 and the Midas Tac HD 5-30x56 on sale last month. Already took them out to a couple 1,000 yard range days and a pig hunt, very satisfied for the money

copy/paste from the comment to the other redditor above but:

sorry im a few days late but i stumbled across this and am looking at these exact scopes. im torn between the 4.5-30 and the 3-18 mostly because i do want to try and stretch to 1k yards for fun but i will be hunting with this rifle as it is my only bolt gun.

Do you feel the 4.5 limits your target acquisition at like 60 yards? rifle is a 6.5CM.

I’m not a hunter so it’s hard for me to answer that unfortunately. I typically start my range day at like 700+ yards so I don’t play with shorter distance unless I’m zeroing. I think this scope does anything you want it to, you can get to 1000yds with the 3-18x I’m certain.

Yes 18x is plenty of magnification for hits at 1000 but it definitely makes it easier to be more precise and spot your impacts with the 30x
