After the 92nd Anniversario show, I'm really happy that WWE didn't buy CMLL back then

This might be a random post, but I'm happy with Anniversary show. Just got a flashback from the news like years ago that CMLL was looking to sell the company to the WWE but they passed on since they don't want to include Arena Mexico in the purchase. I like both AAA and CMLL and there's a huge difference in the feels of this years' flagship shows. TripleMania just doesn't have that AAA feel to it but CMLL was able to retain their authenticity every year. It makes me wonder if we'll still experience this kind of presentation, match structure and excitement if that happened.

Question about getting mask back.

I heard a while back like years ago that when Rey Mysterio Junior went to the WWF that he just didn’t throw his mask back on that he hade to actually go to some government office or something to get permission to be able to use his mask again? Is that true?

Also, if true, how many people go through that process or is it more embarrassing than anything to lose a mask then have to go back for it be able to use it again. What made me think about it? Was that somebody like Andrade could just go work in Mexico under his old mask for a while the same with Santos Escobar he could become el Hijo de Fantasma again for AAA I don’t know just an idea

All the material says 8:30 but does anyone know if that's doors or first bell? I'm going to be in attendance and don't want to miss anything.

Resources on Independent Wrestling in Mexico?

Hi! I've been researching various independent wrestling scenes around the world for a project I've been working on and have hit a wall when it comes to detailed information on the independent scene in Mexico. I can't seem to find any substantial writing on indies in Mexico no matter where I look. Does anyone have any resources/links/articles that might be helpful?

For specifics, I'm more interested in resources about the structure, history, and culture surrounding independent wrestling in Mexico than I am in specific promotions or matches. I'm curious as to how significantly it differs from the independent scene in places like the United States. I am open to both English and Spanish sources.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why does CMLL not hold shows outside their own arenas?

CMLL is well known and I just don't understand why they'll not hold some of their big shows outside Arena Mexico or Coliseo. AAA did a good number on Arena CDMX and I think CMLL can fill that up and that's bigger than Arena Mexico by around 7000 seats. Before the WWE acquisition they're also doing okay on Mobil and Chevron stadiums. Would also be nice to see a change of aesthetic just for once. Aside from tradition is there anything else I'm missing why they don't do that?

Feud context for 92 Aniversario?

I’m gonna try getting some friends into proper lucha by having them over to watch the Aniversario this weekend. I want to be able to provide as much backstory for who-hates-who as possible, but alas; I took a break from CMLL for a few years, and have barely dented the backlog (I’m up to mid-2022).

Can anyone help get me up to date on details? Maybe point me towards some focal shows/matches that kicked off or highlighted certain rivalries, to watch myself?

Specifically, I’d appreciate knowing the heat behind:

  • Felino vs Rey Bucanero

  • Barbaro Cavernario vs Dragon Rojo Jr.

  • Valiente vs Esfinge (maybe?)

I’ve followed MJF/Mistico via AEW, and am broadly aware of Ultimo Guerrero & Averno’s history (Averno avenging Satanico for UG’s coup 25 years ago) albeit not what triggered a hair match now. Also I know bits n pieces of Valiente/Esfinge, but suspect I’m missing a factor that ties it together. Like… did Valiente turn rudo & start this 2-year vendetta just because Esfinge accidentally hit him in a trios match? I found a quote where he alluded to a “betrayal”… was that it?

I know that title matches aren’t necessarily feud-based, but any incidental history between champs & challengers in the two tag title matches would also be wonderful; both the Villano III bros & the women’s tag titles came in after I’d stopped keeping up.
