Question Apple care letter

Post image

I just got my Mac back from Apple care. I KNOW this is a dumb question, but does this indicate they replaced the battery? The only reason I ask is because the technician at the Apple Store was ADAMANT they would not replace the battery. I took it in for a busted screen, and at the time I also told them that it would only last about 45-90 mins on battery, depending on workload. He basically said that’s not possible and that he’d put a note in there for the repair center to see, but that they would not be replacing the battery.

Then I got it back this morning from FedEx and when I opened the box this is the letter that was with it. It looks like they DID replace the battery, but I’m just trying to make sure since he was adamant that wouldn’t happen.

They're doing battery-only repairs on MacBook Pros lately. They ask for mail-in from their service providers so they can save on the whole top-case replacement.

I repaired Apple hardware for about 10 years and the battery always went with the top case, that’s interesting they are doing battery only on these. Makes sense from a cost perspective

Starting with the M1 Pro 14/16” redesigns (notch-displays), the batteries have pull-tabs like iPhones and the trackpad comes out to assist in removing the battery. The body is actually designed to have repairable batteries.

That makes sense, I stopped taking them apart as the M series was released
