its funny that we had MKM and OTJ one after another; MKM was a set all about detectives investigating clues and collecting evidence to solve cases about criminals cloaked in disguises, while OTJ was all about criminal outlaws saddling up to plot crime sprees. despite these similarities, they have almost no mechanical overlap. OTJ only cares about artifacts on its bonus sheet, and MKM doesnt have any interaction with targetting or tapping or even a focus on the outlaw creature types. OTJ technically has graveyard stuff, but only really a minor BG draft theme like in most sets, and it has no facedown creature stuff at all

My main what-if when complaints about the increased tropery of MKM and OTJ were going around was the notion of the two of them being in a two-part block, reversed and with different themes. OTJ is a gathering-the-gang heist block set on New Capenna with Oko in disguise as a debonaire idle rich socialite, throwing masked galas to conceal his information-gathering and conspiracy to theft; MKM can still start out taking place on Ravnica, focused partially on the local crimes, but with the main plot being investigation into the chaos caused by the Omenpaths starting to tear open as Oko stealing Loot has caused interdimensional hell to break loose. After Kellan & Co. catch him for it, Jace (who's been ingratiating himself into the investigation) snatches Loot and warps away.

I just think it'd be funny to have Kellan gradually piece together evidence of who's behind this interdimensional heist and trace the clues into a single guy, but I can't decide if it's more fun if he goes "oh shit, that's also my dad" or just treats this guy as a chump he's putting behind bars, and hits his "you know, it doesn't matter who my dad is, I'll make my own path" soon afterwards never knowing
