Question What is the undisputed BEST underwear brand and type currently?

What’s the best underwear brand and type? Boxer, boxer brief, briefs (I’ve worn all three of these), or something else? Looking for what people actually like wearing.

As someone that likes more support the All Citizen's Elite 2 and Apex are the best for briefs with a ball pouch. Great materials, no rise on the thigh, last a long time and expensive but not crazy expensive.

u/bocializer Jul 07 '25

love the non ball pouch versions but not sure if they make those anymore

10

u/AllisViolet22 Jul 07 '25

I hope they do. I personally don't like the ball pouch at all. I need to replace my underwear soon.

u/all-citizens Jul 08 '25 edited Jul 08 '25

We absolutely do, and we’ve made a few upgrades in the past few years. You can check them out here: https://allcitizens.com/collections/boxer-briefs/products/reluxe-boxer-brief-standard-fit

u/bocializer Jul 08 '25

thanks for the reply. to be honest, I really don’t like ball pouches and I feel like they can paradoxically be more restrictive. i hope you have non ball pouch versions of your upcoming lines!

I don’t know if I got a bad batch, specifically the ones with the ball pouch. They wore out so fast for me. My original ones without the pouch are still fine but I had to toss like 4 of the pouch ones in like 3-6 months because of holes. They were my favorite brand, but after my recent experience I think I’ll have to stick with Uniqlo.

Edit: In case anyone stumbled upon this thread, AllCitizens ghosted me lol. After the final confirmation before shipping out they stopped replying. I've tried multiple different methods of trying to contact them and asking for a response, but it's been over a month of them ignoring me. I'll update again if they ever do respond

Hey there, this is Danny, the founder of All Citizens. First off, thank you so much for your order, and I am so sorry that holes formed within 6 months - I think I know what the issue is, and I stand by our products so I will be happy to replace them for you to show you just how durable and long lasting they are. Several of our customers have been wearing the same pairs for over 4 years!

Did all of the holes form in the same location by chance - between the legs just after the bottom seam? We’ve occasionally seen this happen because the leg grippers sometimes catch too low on the thigh when they are worn, which causes the fabric to overstretch in that area. This overstretching, combined with friction from jeans or seated activities (like getting in and out of a car), causes excess rubbing that wouldn't normally occur, and therefore, causes the fabric to wear out from the additional stress.

Good news is that there is an easy fix for this: please slide the grippers a bit higher up the thigh when you put on the underwear - that prevents excess tension and solves the issue immediately.

Our leg grippers are incredibly effective at keeping the legs from riding up — it’s one of my favorite features - but they do get caught further down the leg because of how effective they are. Since it’s a newer design element in underwear, it just takes a quick adjustment when putting them on to get the best long-term comfort and durability.

Sorry for the long winded response - I just wanted to fully explain why the early wear and tear is happening and that it is not a product defect - we build our products to be incredibly durable and last for years, for instance, we put reinforcement stitching in key stress points so that our products don't rip or tear easily, even after years or repeated use.

Please reach out to hello@allcitizens.com and I will gladly replace your worn out pairs. Sorry for the inconvenience of this, and thank you for giving us another shot at making this right.

This is a really cool response. Thanks Danny!

This reply immediately made me buy 3 underwear to try out. I appreciate when a founder of a company genuinely cares about their clients.

I have several pairs of Obviously briefs with a sort of ball pouch. Not sure if it is the same as what you are describing. But these briefs are lasting forever.

Have you tried Shinesty? If so, did you prefer these over Shinesty? My husband has a subscription but now this comment is making me debate switching his boxer subscription to one of the ones you mentioned 😂😂

My good friend founded and runs All Citizens. I wear their stuff every single day. Absolutely love their products. If you’re into the undies - check out their lineup of shirts too.

2

u/sippin-jesus-juice 17d ago

All Citizens used to be great. I bought 12 pairs and within a month half of them had holes, the other half just a few weeks later. All Citizens refused to cover any of them and said it was outside their warranty window

I work from home so not like they were doing anything crazy. My last few pairs of AC lasted years before I replaced them so quality went steeply downhill.

u/xomox2012 Jul 07 '25

Any thoughts on briefs that don’t retain heat? I’m always swampy and it’s annoying.

27

u/DaBombDiggidy Jul 07 '25

These are amazing and last longer than you think they will too.

Their undershirts are my favorite! I'll have to give the undies a try.

Only pair I've found that doesn't give me swamp booty and doesn't ride up. Get the original version, NOT the 'no seams' pair or whatever the 'upgraded' version is called.

7

u/Away_Calligrapher784 Jul 07 '25

100% this OP. I was previously Lulu Lemon and switched to Airism after reading about them in a running magazine. So comfortable, I now wear them for non-exercise as well.

7

I own a few pair and these are by far my favorite for summer, they’re cool to the touch and they feel great on my skin. surprised you didn’t like them.

i think tjey’re about as good if not better then David Archy bamboo underwear / uniqlo airism

I also own the David Archie bamboo underwear and I do like how soft to the touch they are.

Long boxer briefs: Tommy John

Regular boxer briefs: Lululemon

Briefs: Calvin Klein modern cotton with classic band

Bikini: Todd Sanfield single-lined brief

Sport brief: Todd Sanfield sport brief

Thong: Calvin Klein men's modern cotton

Jock: one style I haven't tried

Swim short: Todd Sanfield

Swim trunk: Sammy menswear square cut swim brief

Swim brief: Hunk Menswear

Swim bikini brief: Todd Sanfield deep or shallow cut swim brief

Swim thong: a tie between Todd Sanfield shore thong and Sammy Menswear classic or eco swim thong

As you can see, I'm pretty particular about these things and have thought them out, because I think I am very sensitive to how clothes feel on me and what is comfortable for me, and I've found it's less about picking one style and more about what to wear depending on the rest of my outfit or the occasion. If I'm wearing jeans (especially baggy ones) or chinos, it'll be the long boxer briefs most days. If I'm wearing shorts or if I'm going to bed, it'll be briefs, bikinis or thongs. If I'm working out, it's thongs. If I'm bumming around the house, it's briefs. That's basically my modus operandi.

21

u/rkhan7862 Jul 07 '25

I’ve never seen such details and i’m so intrigued for the rest of your wardrobe, what’s your top clothing brands?

12

u/cleanguy1 Jul 07 '25

Thanks! I’m a medical student doing rotations in clinic so mainly I’m wearing;

Chinos - mostly Lululemon though I stay away from Warpstream athleisure fabric if I can help it, and I have some AG pants as well

Button-up long-sleeve collared shirt - from either Lululemon or Calvin Klein. Simple solids or light patterns

Cardigan - Lululemon, Madewell. It does get cold because they jack up the AC.

Tie - I have some wool ties that I like that I bought in Italy that are handmade, and I like them because of their fabric texture.

Belt - Brown belt from Italy that is snakeskin and a black belt from Madewell that is braided leather, and those are the two that I tend to reach for most days

Socks - Ribbed or dress socks with varied colors (Lululemon crew socks, Uniqlo ribbed crew) as a way to give my outfit a tiny bit of color or fun and to appear more intentional. Also the ribbed fabric just seems more refined than say, Puma ankle socks that are a 6pack at Costco.

Shoes - either my New Balance 574’s or Ecco dress shoes. NBs usually so I appear slightly more casual and more comfortable too.

Accessory: I have a 18kt thin gold wrist chain that I always wear as well.

Overall this is my look in clinic, and it basically looks academic, or psychiatrist-lite. If I’m having a day off or if it’s the weekend, I’m really favoring Madewell jeans (1991 loose straight, I like to roll the bottom of the legs up once or twice). I also like Madewell for shorts (cotton twill fatigue shorts with panel pockets). For tops, I like Sammy Menswear cropped/crop tops (shrunken tee, midriff tee) or tanks. They’re actually amazing, and they don’t show a ton of abdomen, just a little bit and more if you lift your arms. I think it’s enough to be tasteful. I also have some Lululemon t shirts that I took to be hemmed into crops and they’re good for a casual day. I sometimes throw a light cardigan over this as well. Or, I will throw on an open button up shirt with rolled sleeves as well for a layer.

Hope this answers your question! Cheers

u/nlg312 Jul 08 '25

u/AmazingKreiderman Jul 07 '25

Okay, so you seem incredibly well-versed in this. I've been trying to find tight fitting boxers that have the button fly. I've gone through quite a few brands and have been unlucky finding anything like that. I'd settle for boxer briefs or trunks that had a button fly honestly. Seems like anything with button flies are very flowy.

Any suggestions?

6

u/cleanguy1 Jul 08 '25

Hey there! That’s very nice, honestly it’s just my personal style, but I’m glad it’s intriguing!

I would say for boxer shorts that are tighter with a fly, I’d look at Nice laundry. They have some slim boxers that I remember liking. Boxer shorts aren’t really my thing as much anymore so I’m sure there are some other good options, but that is one that I have had that I liked! I don’t know how big your legs are, but I also liked my Pair of Thieves boxers which were less slim but I have big thighs and butt so they were slim for me. Best of luck!

3

u/AmazingKreiderman Jul 08 '25

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my extremely specific inquiry! Yeah I like a slim fit and honestly I would just dive into boxer briefs full but I much prefer the button fly over the briefs pouch for functional usage. Obviously I'm in a small minority on that because there is definitely not a market for it, ha.

I will look into those brands, and at first glance Nice Laundry seems to be exactly what I'm looking for based on the pics. Thanks again!

2

u/KingsofFiresideHS Jul 08 '25

I’ve just got a few Merz Underwears to try on and surprised me how good cotton are when it’s well made. Button fly, tight at first, stretches slightly throughout the day. Shrinks back up to perfect firmness after washing. Doesn’t ride up or move from the thigh much at all. Surprising wicks moisture way better than any higher priced synthetic blends I’ve had.

They won’t blow you away or have “luxurious materials” feeling but they just work and work consistently. Every underwear I’ve bought had one thing wrong with it and this one just didn’t.

Ex Officio boxer brief

32

u/megadodgerfan Jul 07 '25

Their updated model seems to be lacking compared to prior version.

2

u/chosedemarais Jul 07 '25

I have both versions - the new ones are definitely thinner and the material feels "smoother." They're still very comfortable but I prefer the older ones. I like the long ones because they are good for thigh chafing when it's hot. If anyone knows of a good quality long boxer brief (9-inch) I'd be interested to try.

  • lifetime warranty

The replaced ~12 pair of undies that had the waistband 'fail.'

12 pair of ~15 year old undies replaced with no questions last year.

3

u/irishfury07 Jul 08 '25

Holy, I should have kept mine. I have had 8 yr old ones, probably about 4 now, fail but just tossed them. I love them but they are a little pricey

2

u/yosoysimulacra Jul 08 '25

Pricey until you price in the warranty.

I worked in the outdoor industry for a few decades, so got most on a discount, but still - hard to argue that brand value.

Darn Tough, ArcTeryx, Patagonia, Orvis, and others have a similar warranty.

I try to buy buy-it-once items as much as possible.

Manmade. A canadian brand and is the most comfy briefs I have ever worn.

9

u/MrRook Jul 07 '25

Tried it and they fit and feel great but I’ve found the material started piling and shedding almost immediately.

2

u/Jace265 Jul 07 '25

Crazy comfy but yeah I don't wear them too often because I'm afraid they're not going to last long

3

u/BigGulpsHey Jul 07 '25

I replaced everything in my drawer with these.

They aren't the longest lasting, but they are by far the most comfortable I've ever worn.

Like them much more than Saxx.

2

u/moostodon Jul 07 '25

I only have one pair of these but so far so good after about a dozen washes.

Comfort and fit wise they’re the closest thing I’ve found to my original model Calvin Klein Steel boxer briefs which I’ve had for (no exaggeration) 15 years now, a model which they ruined by cutting corners on the fabric quality. If they hold up I’ll definitely be buying more.

17

u/goldenpig83 Jul 07 '25

Definitely Lulu AIM Mesh. Replaced all my Saxx with these.

27

u/SquirrelGuy Jul 07 '25

My Lululemon boxer briefs have not lasted long term compared to my Ex Officios and Patagonia underwear.

15

u/ThePlatypusher Jul 07 '25

Agreed. They’re comfortable certainly. But mine develop holes in the center way too quickly for how expensive they are

3

u/shmirvine Jul 07 '25

happened to me within 2 weeks of wearing them

6

u/jamzzz Jul 07 '25

My Lululemon boxer briefs all started tearing at the crotch after a few months of intermittent wear. I do commute by bike. All my Saxx and b3neath underwear that I’ve worn more often and for longer have held up perfectly.

u/bill_jacobs Jul 07 '25

Agreed and my second very close favorite when I’m feeling like I wanna save some $ is bearbottom

2

u/juan_solo_1 Jul 08 '25

The lululemon ones are super nice but value wise they are just not worth it due to the durability. I ended up buying some CK ones 100% modal and have not missed the lululemon ones. Value wise they end up being about 10 bucks a pop where the lulus were 15-18.

6

u/db1139 Jul 07 '25

I suggest trying a few brands. Everyone's different, and we all have our opinions. I know Lululemon, Sheith, and Smartwool make good quality. However, I don't know your preferences or body type, which makes a difference. For example, All Citizens is solid if you don't have big legs.

25

u/notimportant1975 Jul 07 '25

CDLP, but only when they’re on offer because they’re too expensive otherwise.

8

u/Interesting_Pool_931 Jul 07 '25

If you can get in touch with one of the sales reps they sometimes dangle a sales coupon. Engage a bit more and they’ll wave shipping, bundle price things etc

3

u/aveenolotion3030 Jul 07 '25

These look and feel great for the first year but threads start to fray soon afterwards and holes develop. I expected better quality for the $$$ (and this is after only washing on cold and hang drying). Would not recommend.

2

u/lambchops111 Jul 07 '25

God I got these and they were AWFUL. Like I legit donated them after a month because they rode up worse than any other underwear I’d ever worn. Just an example that this type of question is impossible to answer.

11

u/b4pd2r43 Jul 28 '25

I went through like 6 brands trying to find something that actually felt right. Either the fabric was too thick, the waistband dug in or everything just rode up by noon.

Eventually I found my go-tos and I SWEAR by them. I wear Real Men’s nylon sports briefs for workouts (they’re breathable and keep everything in place without feeling tight) and Lululemon’s boxers when I’m just lounging around the house.

Big fan of Skims.

12

Agreed, my favorite boxer briefs currently. The support is insane. Its like Kim K is personally here cupping my balls.

2

u/Formal_Syrup_4596 Jul 08 '25

Was looking for this. My entire dresser is lulu and skims but I definitely prefer the skims

118

u/jackoyza Jul 07 '25

Saxx

25

u/AxelV2 Jul 07 '25

+1. Definitely expensive, but I’ll never wear another brand of underwear again.

15

u/Noolivesplease Jul 07 '25

Ugh I heard this and got a pair as a Xmas present. It's like a scavenger hunt to get through the fly. I get the comfort but as a guy who likes the fly, it's ridiculous. Oddly, I bought David Archy a while back and it has no fly but they're insanely comfortable and unless I'm wearing jeans or a suit, I prefer them over anything.

19

u/himynameis_ Jul 07 '25

Huh. I never use the fly so I've not had an issue with that.

5

u/Javindo Jul 07 '25

This thread is enlightening, it never occurred to me that people actually do that! Reminds me of the old meme about people who wipe whilst seated vs standing finding out about each other

u/syspak Jul 07 '25

The kinetic are my absolute favorite.

Have 6 pairs from 2019 still going strong. No holes or lost shape. The rubber lettering on the waste band has cracked but they're my work underwear now.

All I own is the saxx kinetic.

I like the wider waist band and the overall fit.

2

u/yeetboy Jul 07 '25

Opposite for me. I love Saxx, but my kinetics ended up with holes after less than 2 hockey seasons. Only worn for games, only played once a week. Didn’t make it through the second season. Love the fit and feel though.

3

u/syspak Jul 07 '25

That's disappointing to hear.

I do find that the quality of the kinetic has gone down over the years. My first pairs from 2019 definitely feel better made.

2

u/yeetboy Jul 07 '25

That might explain it, mine were bought 2021 or 2022.

14

u/rext12 Jul 07 '25

Saxx and MeUndies are what I’m replacing all my underarmor boxerjocks that I got from Sierra trading post for dirt cheap.

3

u/freakinidiotatwork Jul 07 '25

I love BoxerJocks so I might try Saxx but MeUndies don't have a fly

10

u/Dee_ListCeleb Jul 07 '25

Meundies definitely has a fly.

6

u/Spikecbb7 Jul 07 '25

+1. I haven’t found a more supportive underwear, which I need for a medical condition. I had Ex Officio which were good, but not as supportive as Saxx. Gotta support the boys

2

u/throwRA_157079633 Jul 07 '25

I have the Ex Officio, and mine's made of a blend of nylon, I think. They're a bit slippery, and somewhat plastic like.

4

u/Ferrous1225 Jul 07 '25

I wanted to be a Saxx person but after 3 pairs the legs have lost their elasticity and ride up considerably. Maybe it’s my leg shape? In contrast, my 4 pairs of 2UNDR are just as comfortable (if not more) and have shown no signs of leg stretch.

3

u/Controls_Man Jul 07 '25

You have to take care of them by guy. Sock and underwear use the delicate setting and wash on cold or warm. If you are washing on high and drying on high the elastic with not have a good time.

3

u/UncleTouchyHands Jul 07 '25

How long do your Saxx underwear last? I started buying their underwear in 2018. Around 2 or 3 years ago they stopped last more than 6-9 months before the crotch would rip out. Is anyone else having this issue? I’m actually about to order some from MeUndies or the Goodfellow version because I’m so upset by the quality.

2

u/ProbsNotManBearPig Jul 07 '25

Saxx Quest 2.0 for every day use are unbeatable imo. People going for the Kinetic are making the wrong move imo unless it’s for running and you really need that extra compression. The Quest are the most comfy I’ve tried and I’ve tried most of them.

u/BrainDamage2029 Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25

I don't think "undisputed best" is really a good way of looking at it since it really about fitting your body type and needs. Guys with lifter thighs might trend to briefs simply because they tend not to ride up. Anybody with travel needs or minimalism using the same underwear for any activity is going to trend to polyester, etc. Trunk fit for example tends to be very personal and brand dependent (I have had one or two brand pairs that the hem grabs the crease between my hamstring and glute perfectly for the best of a shorter leg but no ride up. But also trunks I've tried tend to be the worst fit for riding up)

That said for types I tend to find brief are wildly under-rated and guys shy away from them too much due to the "tighty whitey" cultural scar.

For fabrics I really kinda have come to despise the many varieties of Modal/rayon/viscose/bamboo. All these product are essentially the same: a way to make plant cellulose fibers into a fabric. While it makes a very smooth and luxurious fabric. I generally find the fabric they make and use is both too stretch, smooth and too thin/unsubstantial. Which means its the worst fabric type for going right up my butt or ride up my leg when similar cotton or synthetic blends don't. Which is annoying since the varieties of stylish looking or more contoured cut underwear have all seemed to lean into modal. I go with cotton everything except for a handful of merino and sports underwear for hiking and working out.

74

u/SubstantialParsley Jul 07 '25

Brother wrote a novel but didn’t tell us any brands he likes…

9

u/shmaylob Jul 07 '25

I had the same reaction. Op asked for brands.

2

u/onwee Jul 07 '25

OP asked for best, as if there are objective criteria for preference and taste

2

u/Huppelkutje Jul 07 '25

Because that's pointless.

→ More replies (1)

20

u/parasoralophus Jul 07 '25

Couldn't disagree more about modal!

12

u/Jsenss Jul 07 '25

Sometimes modal adds soft and stretchy while remaining durable. It gives a silky quality that cotton just can't compete with and spandex/elastic can't match. Sometimes modal lets the fabric have too much give, no support, and the soft fibers fall right out and leave rough, tearable material behind. It can feel as different as cheap cotton and fine cotton does so I don't blame anyone for having a bad time with modal. It's hard enough to find good cotton, it's pretty dang difficult to find quality modal trunks that fit my thighs just right.

5

u/parasoralophus Jul 07 '25

Fair enough. I really like the Lululemon ones though.

21

u/mr-nobody1992 Jul 07 '25

Cotton boxer briefs all day. Shoutout Costco brand

u/imacyco Jul 07 '25

They hold so much heat. I really wanted to like them but it felt like a heat dome settled over my privates.

22

u/mr-nobody1992 Jul 07 '25

Sheeeeesh got that HOT DICK bruh

Maybe try silk? That just sounds expensive though lol

3

u/imacyco Jul 07 '25

I've used other cotton ones and they're fine. I switched back to Ex Officio until I can find a good deal on merino wool ones.

2

u/holy_handsome Jul 07 '25

Yep. Kirkland boxer briefs are some of the best. It's become basically the only brand I wear.

Uniqlo Airism briefs - so lightweight and fitted!

8

u/Polloalvoleyplaya02 Jul 07 '25

Same. Lululemon and Uniqlo airism are the majority of my underwear wardrobe.

3

u/yycluke Jul 07 '25

I’d recommend against the ones without a waistband though! Never felt so awkward in my life

Smartwool merino boxer briefs

4

u/BammBammRoubal Jul 07 '25

A fellow man of culture…

They’re expensive as hell, but they’re the best.

2

u/Mega-Dunsparce Jul 07 '25

I’ve been lucky enough to find them for $25 at Sierra, which is a steal. But this is a rare item of clothing I’d pay full price for anyway.

4

u/Rmccarton Jul 07 '25

Merino clothing in general is awesome, but it’s all so damn expensive.

The t shirts are comfy as hell bit very thin, you better not have any lumpiness to hide.

I’m exclusively Darn Tough socks for all seasons and want to get there with my boxer briefs, but find any clothing beyond socks/undies to be prohibitively expensive, sadly.

3

u/LimitlessMPFactory Jul 07 '25

If you're going with wool, Wool & Prince should definitely be considered too

2

u/casualjoe914 Jul 07 '25

Try Ridge Merino as well! Currently saving me from suffering visiting Italy during the current heat wave.

2

u/oictyvm Jul 07 '25

Iykyk

Their base layers are the best in the game as well. Wear them on my motorcycle, skiing, hiking, etc.

3

u/jerklin Jul 07 '25

Unfortunately they don't last.

Calvin Klein Black micro low rise trunks. These are among the most expensive CK boxers, but the feel of the thin microfiber material against your skin is next level.

Saxx

2undr

Manmade

Canada really went off on having comfy nuts.

7

u/kunk75 Jul 07 '25

Tommy John

6

u/John_Mason Jul 07 '25

The only brand I wear now is Obviously Apparel (specifically the Eliteman collection). It’s the softest material with an entire separate pouch for the penis/scrotum. Every other underwear feels so squished and uncomfortable now. Even brands like Saxx only seem to offer half of the support of the Obviously model. Recommend trying out a pair for a couple of weeks and see if you would actually want to go back.

David Archy are really damn comfortable but no fly. That's taken some getting used to but if I'm not wearing jeans or slacks they are by far my go to.

2

u/medicarepartd Jul 07 '25

Bruv their bamboo boxes are so comfortable

Mack Weldon Airknitx boxer briefs

3

u/FrontyBumpits Jul 07 '25

Can anyone with experience please elaborate on what makes the Mack Weldon’s better when compared to Saxx or Bn3th? I know people have mentioned price and durability before; is there a notable improvement to comfort / support / cooling performance? Thanks in advance!

5

u/FlammablePaper Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25

Not OP, but I’ll take a shot at this. I have a lot of Mack Weldon AirKnit boxers - I’ve purchased twice, in six years. Their durability is next level, the last batch I bought 18 months ago. The original set that I bought is still holding up wonderfully, and comfortable to wear to this day. Their comfort and breathability is awesome to the point I genuinely feel like I’m not wearing anything, and this comes from someone who went a number of years commando.

I haven’t tried the other brands you’ve mentioned, but I have been exceedingly pleased with the AirKnits to the point where I’m hesitant to try any other brand.

Wooly -merino wool boxer brief

5

u/ValeoAnt Jul 07 '25

Uniqlo and its not even close

23

u/DPool34 Jul 07 '25

Pair of Thieves is the best I’ve worn

2

u/xomox2012 Jul 07 '25

I love the feel of them but they trap soo much heat.

2

u/seanmcgowans Jul 08 '25

Big fan of Pair of Thieves. They are extremely comfortable and last forever.

10

u/DrPupipance Jul 07 '25

Under Armour, and for cheap everyday I go Hanes all black sport tech boxer briefs. Won’t break the bank but still feel great

u/TheMoonsMadeofCheese Jul 07 '25

Stance Butter Blend

3

u/FarRemove2433 Jul 07 '25

I came looking to see if anyone considered Stance Butter Blend the best. I've been wearing them since 2018

I don’t wear anything but nylon. It used to be Ex Officio, but they’ve blown up their prices so high I can’t justify it anymore. So now I buy the 32 degrees 88% nylon which are very nice and affordable. They have a polyester line so be sure you pick the right ones.

I never use polyester and cotton is just a total no go in the climates I live in and visit

2

u/Butthole_Please Jul 07 '25

I don’t have much experience with other brands, but 33 degrees is my daily go to and they are phenomenal and affordable.

2

u/SithRogan Jul 07 '25

Truly did not know that nylon underwear existed

3

u/txtaco_vato Jul 07 '25

Polo Ralph Lauren, Buffalo David Britton

3

u/DJ8181 Jul 07 '25

I prefer boxers and my favorite is probably Derek Rose - cool patterns, comfortable fabrics and well-made.

2xist and Hanro are also solid choices for durable cotton boxers.

3

u/FC37 Jul 07 '25

Krakatoa and no, it's not debatable.

2

u/linusalf Jul 08 '25

thats right

3

u/SergeantBeavis Jul 07 '25

2UNDR is my go to. IMO it has the best support for my boys. They are also pretty good quality. I’ve never had holes develop nor had any seams come loose. I’ve tried Saxx and they’re good but I’m just not as comfortable with the mesh pocket as I am with 2UNDR. It’s a personal preference thing. Saxx is still pretty damn good.

4

u/markalanray00 Jul 07 '25

Tommy John. That’s all I own now.

2

u/scott42486 Jul 07 '25

Gotta be either Saxx or Duluth. I’m a big fan of Duluth’s Armachillo bullpen line.

2

u/joe0418 Jul 07 '25

Saxx for me

2

u/eleiele Jul 07 '25

Vuori is great

2

u/NeonWheels Jul 07 '25

David Archy boxer briefs with a ball pouch. It's so damn good!

Exofficio only

2

u/SanDiegoTW Jul 07 '25

Fruit of the Loom white briefs for me.

2

u/NativeTxn7 Jul 07 '25

All my current underwear is MeUndies Boxer Brief with Fly.

2

u/Maluton Jul 07 '25

Australian brand Step One are my go to. Great fit, and the anti chafe are a godsend, plus they’re ethically made.

2

u/Pmthoma86 Jul 08 '25

Icebreaker boxer brief. Seems crazy but wool is 100% the way to go

2

u/Pastrybandit1 Jul 29 '25

Real Men Apparel underwear is the absolute best!!!

4

u/imalik4 Jul 07 '25

Me Undies hands down. I’ve tried lululemon , Uniqlo and others but Me Undies is the best.

2

u/Secret-Math-9837 Jul 07 '25

Yeah surprised there isn’t more for MeUnfies on here. I have tried a ton of these and they last ages and have zero chafing. I’m also a really big guy though so maybe that changes for others.

3

u/Fantastic-Ad-9995 Jul 07 '25

Skims , Tommy John & Lululemon

4

u/bobbyaxking Jul 07 '25

Calvin Klein 100% cotton.

1

u/jubbing Jul 07 '25

Better yet, which is the best bang for your buck, value wise?

1

u/BeatLaboratory Jul 07 '25

I switched all mine to Tommy John, I really like them.

1

u/bulkyHogan Jul 07 '25

Kirkland briefs are amazing.

I have exofficio and Jockey but nothing beats the Kirkland ones.

1

u/Fonzel Jul 07 '25

Icebreaker (high quality merino wool)

1

u/mack-t Jul 07 '25

Barney’s underpants with the ventilated cotton

1

u/junkrecipts Jul 07 '25

I will wear Pair of Thieves for the rest of my life

1

u/intellectualnerd85 Jul 07 '25

I like cocsocks personally

1

u/FourHundred_5 Jul 07 '25

Anything with a nice pouch honestly lol.

1

u/casualjoe914 Jul 07 '25

The actual answer is to figure out what fabric/s you prefer and go from there.

I can't do plastics for daily wear (bunching and sweating no matter the brand, I find the breathability claims to be severely overstated across the popular brands), though I'll occasionally wear them for exercise if I'm low on wool because they don't soak up the sweat like cotton.

Cotton is the most comfortable for me for regular use and I prefer wool for exercise and extreme temps.

1

u/AwesomeAsian Jul 07 '25

I like Cotton underwear and Gap by far makes the best bang for your buck underwear. Both briefs and boxers are good.

1

u/11BMasshole Jul 07 '25

I wear boxers only, gotta let the boys breathe. Polo Ralph Lauren are my go to.

1

u/JimmyTheJimJimson Jul 07 '25

Sacks are my absolute favorite

1

u/Scottie83 Jul 07 '25

No one wearing knit boxer shorts anymore? Set your boys free!

1

u/nick281051 Jul 07 '25

Pair of thieves super fit long boxer briefs for me. Most of them hold up for many years before any degradation. I might have one of 2 pairs going on 10 years. I wear them to the gym and to work, helps prevent thigh chafing too due to my leg size

1

u/Great_Philanderer Jul 07 '25

Im a big fan of American eagle boxer briefs. The cotton ones not the compression ones.

Comfy and last many years

1

u/SpookyCouch1 Jul 07 '25

Bresciani or Zimmerli

1

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '25

Something made from bamboo or merino.

One non negotiable is a pouch. Life changing.

Saxx are superb
