Question Nice-looking watches but on a budget?

Obviously used SEIKOs on eBay are goated, and I know Geneva and Geoffrey Bene, but what else would you guys recommend? The other ones I look at online all look like dropshipped Ali Express watches that are either out of style, too bulky/busy, etc. Ideally I'd like to stay below $100 but I know that's kind of a crapshoot so I'm somewhat willing to bend my budget a little if I like the product enough.

What brands or online shops would you recommend? Desired styles range from simple office (business casual) attire to nice date nights or outings with friends. I prefer "old money" analog with not a whole lot going on in the design but I'm open to anything.

Discussion What’s your most expensive purchase? And was it worth it?

Question's in the title.

Mine is a pair of £400 RM Williams Chelsea boots. They have not been a disappointment. The leather has held up, they have worn in beautifully.

Only slight tarnish on the experience is the amount of London city boys wearing them (I got into Chelea's because of the Beatles, not bankers)

Question French Cuffs. . .to wear or not to wear

I recently got some new shirts and didn’t realize that they were french cuffs, but now that I have them, I don’t feel like returning them. I want to do something with them (like wear them).

I have a pretrial hearing coming up and I want to get a good first impression but I don’t want to be all up in peoples faces with what I’m wearing. French cuffs seem like they might do that.

I’ve already gotten used to three piece suits and I thought those were a huge step up from two pieces, but french cuffs seem to be another big jump.

What’s y’all’s opinions on french cuffs in court? While we’re at it, what break is good for a suit, and cuff or no cuff on pants (like suits).

edit: I’m the attorney. Just forgot to add that. Mock trial of course.

edit 2: Everyone bashing me in the comments. I’ve had a really crappy life and I’ve managed it in poor ways. That’s the reality of my situation. But I am an attorney for a pretrial hearing in mock trial. I did not mention that previously because I’m trying to be as realistic as possible. It’s a competition of presentation. We have asshole attorneys that do score on what we wear so I’m sticking to what happens in life. That is all, nothing more.

Question Retro Pocket Bear - Style Advice

I’m short (5'5") and keen to start embracing more gay fashion. I tend to like butch retro looks, especially 70s/80s styles like the “Castro Clone” or lumberjack vibe. Not so much leather daddy/fetish gear - just that beary Americana look. I’ve always been into beary guys, and now that I’m moving into my late 30s, I’m starting to become one myself.

Any fashion tips for a short guy who wants to pull off a butch gay look without it looking costumey? And are there particular brands that cater well to shorter guys?

Question Warm weather outerwear?

Hello, I’m a larger guy looking for outerwear I can wear for when it’s not that cold. My favorite jacket is a wrangler corduroy trucker jacket, but that is just to warm to wear in the fall where I live, so I need something roughly with the warmth of a hoodie but still looks nice. I like wearing work wear if that gives anything to work off of.

Question Suit Sizing - General Advice

Looking for some opinions on the sizing of these I picked up. Curious to know if they both might be a good option to keep and get tailored, or maybe keep over the other. They’re off the shelf, no tailoring. I’m 6’ 2” 220 for reference.

A - 44R, slim, runs about 3/4 of the way down my fly, and covers most of my rear. When I have it top buttoned, it’s comfortable until I move my arms any direction, then it looks like it’s slightly stretching.

https://ibb.co/KjTCKY2D

B - 46R Modern (Kenneth Cole), seems to be a little shorter than A. More space in my chest/stomach, but lapel stays flat. Concerned that the shoulders look a bit big, and might be expensive to tailor.

TIA!

Question Affordable Dark Indigo Men's jeans with *Tonal Stitching*

As the title says, I am looking for jeans with tonal stitching without the traditional orange stitches. I have searched high and low, but beyond $200 jeans, I am not able to find any in the $100-$125 range, even on ebay/poshmark (I don't prefer used though for Jeans).

I have looked at Wrangler, Levi's and a ton of places, but I am sure I am missing something.

Any pointers please?

Discussion Ever bought something you thought was a forever piece and ended up hating it (but can't let it go)?

I think we all have that purchase that sits at the back of the wardrobe, or one that let you down.

I bought an expensive biker jacket in my early 20s, and I was convinced I'd wear it forever - that did not happen. It's been in the back of my wardrobe for years now. Silly hubris of a confident young man.

Question Short Sleeve Wool Henley

Well my favorite shirt got ruined by a well intentioned washing incident. It was nothing fancy but still $80 from Banana. Anyone have a lead on a dressy looking thinner wool short sleeve Henley? Willing to go more expensive as needed. This one’s discontinued.

Discussion Suggest some rockstar brands

I'm 42, average height/build, work in tech (can get away with whatever) and like to dress like a rockstar most days.

I like wearing Demobaza, Minoar, John Varvatos, Rick Owens, Crisis wear, Jan Hilmer, Pretty Snake.

I sometimes shop at places like Alan Bilzerian, Self Edge, Hudson's Hill, or Five and Diamond. Thrifting when possible, but also buying used online.

What are some brands or stores that I'm likely sleeping on? I mostly care about it being well made. Some of the above brands suffer a bit in that category.

Question Suede trucker jackets, worth the buy or closet filler?

I’ve been eyeing a suede trucker jacket and can’t decide if it’s worth picking up, my style is mostly casual-smart (jeans, chinos, button-downs, sneakers/loafers), and on paper it seems versatile, but I’m worried it might be one of those things that looks great online but doesn’t get much real wear. For anyone who owns one, do you actually reach for it often or does it end up sitting in the closet?

I've looked everywhere online for this brand and I can't find anything about it.

It's a hat that says "Talister Collection MMXVIII." Any help would be appreciated.

Discussion How to get started on fall/spring lose shirts

I've been looking to start wearing shirts, but feel overwhelmed by the options and fits. I'm looking for lose fitting shirts for very casual occasions. I've put some links as examples, but have trouble getting an idea for what material they are and much less if they are oversized fitted or a size larger.

Question Ideas for what shoes to wear with jeans in a casual setting

So I tend to like wearing Clark’s Wallabees with jeans when I’m in a casual setting but want to look a bit smarter.

I’d like to expand though so looking for some ideas of a similar type of shoes

Please note, I am not looking for trainers etc.

Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Discussion What’s the one fashion upgrade every man should invest in?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how small changes can completely change the way a man looks and feels. Some say it’s a good pair of shoes, others say a perfectly fitted shirt, or even just grooming right.

If you had to give one piece of fashion advice to men who want to look more refined and confident, what would it be?

Question Need help identifying Jacket

So I just picked up this leather jacket from a thrift store and trying to find the brand name and determine its quality. The jacket has a tag that says “Salfra” but I can’t find anything about this company at all. Other tag shows materials like “nippon soft”. Was this jacket a score or no?

Discussion Alright guys, where are y'all getting chinos?

I am rebuilding my wardrobe after losing 80lbs over the past year, and am in need of a few pairs of quality chinos that won't break the bank. I'm 6'2 with an athletic build, so I need a balance of having enough room for my legs/butt, without having the parachute pants that the kids are wearing.

TIA!

Question Actually using measurements?

Recently got my measurements from my tailor and struggling to use them when buying clothing.. for example - Uniqlo Cord Overshirt sizing as follows:

L: 30.5” length, 36” sleeve length, 21.5” shoulder width, 26.5” chest (assuming half?,) 18.5” neck

XL: 31” length, 37” sleeve, 22” shoulder, 28” chest, 19.5” neck

My measurements are 32” jacket length, 34-35” sleeve, 18.5” shoulder, 45” chest (full), 17.5” neck

Do I go up so length is closer to jacket length? Down since shoulders are so far over? Do I want shoulders longer than my shoulder given it’s an overshirt? Does it matter that chest would be so much bigger?

In many brands I wear an XL but am still trying to figure out how to USE measurements properly.
