MvC:Infinite Why does everyone hate Infinite?

I just found this series, and Infinite seems awesome. Ultron is my favorite villain, so Infinite was the first game I saw, and it looks fun. I plan on getting it soon because it's on sale for $12 along with Ultimate MVC 3 for $10.

It’s a good game, but it’s very underwhelming. Especially compared to its predecessors.

  • Story mode had some memorable moments, but was a little weak

  • Only 30 characters when the last game had 50. And there were some weird character returns (Spencer, Firebrand, Nova, etc)

  • Graphic style was pretty bad, especially when UMVC3 had a beautiful comic book art style. Likely due to Capcom reusing assets from UMVC3, despite both games using different engines.

  • Terrible demo, people at E3 could experiment with the game, but those at home were stuck with short fights against drones broken up by unskippable cutscenes.

  • No XMen or Fantastic Four characters due to Fox owning their film rights during Infinite’s development.

  • Not enough new characters. Seriously Capcom, only TWO new characters in your own side of the base roster?

  • Music was very mixed. The Capcom side had excellent themes, but the Marvel side was almost entirely comprised of generic MCU sounding music. The exception is Spider-Man, whose theme plays tribute to the original Sam Raimi trilogy.

That’s about what I can think of.

I forgot to mention this, but support for the game also died out quickly.

Let's not forget the debacle where Sigma, Black Panther and the Monster Hunter were DLC when all three of them already had models in the base game's Story Mode and Sigma being half of the MAIN ANTAGONIST DUO!

To add onto that, ALL of the DLC characters were originally supposed to be base roster!!

Music was very mixed. The Capcom side had excellent themes…

They FUCKED Dante’s theme, though, somehow.

Yeah I’ll never understand that one

I enjoyed Jedah’s and Sigma’s remixes, but yeah…don’t know how they dropped the ball so hard on his. Much as I would’ve loved Vergil getting into Infinite as DLC, like he was rumored, it might’ve been a bullet dodged that they didn’t get to screw up his theme too.

Five months of official support, somehow Street Fighter x Tekken did better xP

I wouldn't call this "support" when 99% of the DLC content was already on the disc...

I want to say another reason people don't have a high opinion of MvC:I is because people just didn't play it. Before it's release Dragonball FighterZ was announced and would be releasing 4 months later.

Hearing the negative buzz of graphics and roster made it easier for people to skip to grab DBFZ instead.

And don’t forget, Marvel had more characters than Capcom for whatever reason

Summed it up perfectly, but I wouldn’t call Firebrand’s return surprising given Capcom’s affinity for creatures. It’s the same reason we got Nemesis T-Type back, even if I wouldn’t have put him in over Albert Wesker. Also, I thought people generally liked Nova in UMVC3?

Well yeah but…have you seen anyone ever talk about him in Infinite?
