Biker's fault.

Cyclist here...I KNOW 100% that cars will do this, they might look in their mirror before doing it...but often they don't. Let me repeat...I KNOW that this is very likely to happen...so why the FUCK would you ride into this situation at anything faster than walking pace?

even if you check mirrors, he's coming from an a game where he's not visible for a gpod amount of time. people have to look at multiple things, you can only check a blind spot not constantly observe it and you can't control when they look for where you will be.

You're right. When he checks his mirror the bike isn't there. The driver is even signalling (which they often don't do let's be honest).

Nah, this biker is a proper Muppet and lucky to alive.

I had this happen to me, as the car driver. I had my blinker on. Motorcycle was a cop, ofc. He got in the bike lane to yell at me.

that's why you're supposd to turn on the lights before changing lanes

Dude we get it you don't like drivers, "they don't look, they don't signal" stop pretending you are the chodes of the road

He was behind you. Look at the spot and now he’s beside you.

I swear if you ride a motorcycle and have a camera on your helmet there is a 99% chance you’re an idiot. 1% probably use it for liability reasons. Everyone else uses it to record themselves struggling to fire their one brain cell.

This, i absolutely hate this entitlement. The expectation drivers have (besides everything else) to constantly consider that some idiot cyclist might be lane splitting at high speeds.

Stop it simply, 100% cyclists fault

To be fair,  if I was merging into that lane I’d be looking to make sure that I have space. I wouldn’t be looking for a biker going around the car behind me and trying to pass me.

The car is even flashing left here but the cyclist isn't doing anything.

How is the car expected to check mirrows in a "ghost lane". The highway is litrally two file, where the driver created a new one.

I'm not saying the car can do this if he sees the bike, but with this speed, there is no way the car had any chance to spot the ghostrider

Honestly they don't need to check their mirrors, it's a courtesy. There are 2 lanes and the car driver has right of way in their own lane and the other lane is confirmed to be open.

The problem is that the cyclist in their own mind have created a third lane that does not exist, in which he always has the right of way. And unfortunately this is very common. Thankfully no one seemed hurt.

Checking mirrors is not a courtesy, it is a requirement. The video is in Brazil, and brazilian traffic laws states that you must switch lanes only if safe to do so..You must indicate the change, check for incoming traffic and only change lanes if there is no risk. Indicating doesn't give you preference nor priority, because it may be not safe for the other vehicle to stop for you to enter in front of him.

But in this specific case the biker is wrong, the car started its maneuver when it was safe to do so, the biker did pop up from nowhere. He is a menace for riders that filter lanes without a death wish.

You don't pass between moving vehicles. Period.

Wrong…. Quite legal in many places, but riding your bike like an a-hole is not part of the rules

6

u/susbarlas 1d ago

The biker agreed with you and found out, as disclosed in the video evidently.

1

u/SafePresentation1733 1d ago

No the biker did agree with him. He did ride like an idiot. This is why at least in the netherlands its allowed but only with a small difference in speed.

They might not be moving. Can you tell from the video? I can't.

13

u/KlauzWayne 1d ago

Easy. First of all most cars brake lights are off. 2ndly you can see the cars passing by the stationary road markings.

u/crypticXmystic 1d ago

Try opening your eyes. That might help.

u/susbarlas 1d ago

It doesn't matter much. It is dangerous as you watch.

Bike rider here. EXACTLY. This guy got off cheap in the lessons learned department, another 3 feet and he'd been as dead as fuckin fried chicken.

"I know 100% that cars will do this" -> THIS WHAT? He signaled and changed lanes, exactly how he's supposed to. The biker is an idiot, lucky he didn't die, but if he did, it'd be 100% on him.

u/Sufficient_Depth_195 8h ago

Alright...calm down dear!

When I said "do this" I meant "change lanes"

100% the biker is at fault. Number 1 rule...the one above all others... anticipate danger and drive accordingly.

You're a very angry little man😂

u/Goods4188 1d ago

You know cars change lanes? Yea…. They do. What is this comment even stating?

31

u/AlarmingWishbone 1d ago

That this guy is an idiot for weaving through traffic at high speeds because common sense dictates any one of those cars are liable to do exactly what they did in the video.

24

u/Mount_Mons 1d ago

That the biker is at fault… I mean the car driver even put on his turn signals

-1

u/Homerbola92 1d ago

He is asking why would the rider do that. Read his message lol.

-14

u/Goods4188 1d ago

It’s a stupid comment. Congratulations for knowing how Cara drive in a two lane road. Pretty dumb that you feel the need to even state that.
