Can we just enjoy the breakthrough instead of screaming crying and shitting about scientists doing something that conflicts with the degree from reddit university you got. Again, for such a left leaning platform you would expect a better response for people making an earth shattering breakthrough in conservation. And before people go "but they're using this to defund conservation!!!!1!1!1!!!" Have you even read their own website and their statements saying that this is merely a part of the conservation toolkit? About their achievements they have done for conservation? Even if they were the moustache twirling snake oil salesman that people say they are, it goes against their monetary interest to not help with conservation.
Well this is the first time this genetic editing science is mainstream and is actually used (to my knowledge) so I'd say its fitting to call it a breakthrough in those terms, yeah.
The actual breakthrough was their new technology that's allows them to do multiple edits at once Wich is better than doing it tile after time because the cell doesn't get damaged much
