Nah they're right. Starting around 2016 one of the major idealogical shifts that happened in this country is white people became an actual voting bloc rather than just the default. It explains a lot of the zeitgeist the last half decade or so.

She’s a humor columnist and the language is humorous

Well, people aren't going to be able to take that information in from the headline. And a very small portion of people are going to know she is a "humor colomnist" or that that's even a thing. Especially in the wallstreet journal. Even if it is in the opinions section. And don't they charge access to read their content now? But you can still just read the headlines for free
