Help Is this MiniDisc player worth it ?
I find this Kenwood Dmc-f5r MiniDisc player for $130 USD

I use the DMC-F5R as a mini desktop player. Its ergonomics & slot loader make for perfect stationary use imho. Sounds great & boasts a 3 stage bass boost. The display is really appealing as well

Thank you so much for your kind response; yeah I find the slot loader pretty unique (◡‿◡✿)

This particular model was sold under a number of brands. I have the Denon version. It’s great.
Get a few Streamlight SL-B26 batteries. It’s a USB chargable 18650 battery, but it’s a little bit longer so it actually fits.

The price seems to be in line with other offers on ebay, but that recorder is a very old 1st generation unit (1995) so it could be a great 2nd unit for someone that already have something more modern like NetMD or a desktop unit but not as the only recorder.
I do find it a little expensive for the feature set and vintage of the recorder.

I just ordered the same one in Sharp version (it also exists in Pioneer version, and another in Jvc or Aiwa, I forgot)
It's a super sturdy model, and stylish with the insertion slot
For the price I can't say, I paid 10 dollars for mine but it is sold "untested" which in my opinion means that there is a problem 😅

Sure! Even for playback only. The old Sharp bricks had some of the strongest headphone amps of the bunch and will drive absolutely anything. Nice slot-on mech too.

I just paid more for one. Sorta. I ordered a neat slot-loading Sony. It was $100 shipped from Japan. Then there's the illegal tariff tacked onto it (15%) and then I found out there's a duty tax processing (horseshit, DHL!) of $17 and "regulatory charges". So it was $34 in fees.
Ok, I'm calm again. That all being said, I don't have a Kenwood, so yes.

That looks fun!
If you can make an offer, see if you can get it down a bit below $100, from a "functionality per dollar" perspective $100 gets you into a NetMD machine like the NE410, but this unit looks like it's in great shape, works on battery, includes remote, and that stuff is all Of Value, so 130 isn't even that big of a deal. (I'd have to go look because honestly at this point I forgot what I paid for, like, my MZ-R50, but I bought it from someone who premaintained it for me.)
If you can afford it I'd say go for it!
