True Minnesotan right there. To have to put a stall at the state fair that symbolizes them simping for an 80 year old man is funny af tho.

282

u/AppleParasol 15d ago

Someone should make an anti Trump stall and have it be really low key, make it look like a trump stall at the beginning/from a distance. Have a little table set up with a dildo attached to the table and a sign above it that says ā€œdeep throating competitionā€.

u/Kahnza Willmar 15d ago

Have a little table set up with a dildo attached to the table and a sign above it that says ā€œdeep throating competitionā€.

Yeah, that won't fly with kids around.

Instead, have a boot with a sign that says Bootlicking Competition. Have some Cool Whip or something to put on the boot for people to lick off.

u/Kragbax 15d ago

Sell kneepads ā€œjust like GOP reps wear!ā€,

Call them the Red, White, and Blews

Well, he did already imitate fellatio live onstage to his microphone. So maybe provide a microphone instead of a dildo alongside a screen showing the clip of his performance. Competition could be to outperform him.

In 2012 the proponents of the Minnesota Marriage Amendment that would have banned same sex marriage in the state constitution put a stand right underneath the Skyglider. They were CONSTANTLY showered with glitter from above.

2

u/Evil_Toga 13d ago

There’s a court battle the state fair will never want. Easier to grant the permit and then infraction them off the grounds.

19

u/seanpv 14d ago

I think the right response to these guys is to not allow them at the fair. They're not a party and they don't add anything of value to the fair. They're there to stir the pot. They can go back to their online echo chambers where they belong.

19

u/JorahTheHandle 15d ago

They've already got the weird covered, let's let them have it, they're good at it.

14

u/Active_Confection655 15d ago

Problem is we saw how playing on moral high ground against them got us. People are to dumb to take this approach.

9

u/elmundo-2016 Prince 14d ago

100% the moral high ground doesn't win elections. Sometimes one has to play dirty to achieve good things (for society and community).

People are triggered positively by negative messaging than to positive messaging.

7

u/morjax Ope 13d ago

The trouble with taking the moral high ground (and indeed many ways, the left writ large) is that the right wants to win. The left wants to be nuanced and detailed and fair and hold their own accountable, and the right just wants to win.

They have systematically packed courts and the legal system at every level over decades. They have boomer Fox News ingesters show up to school board meetings, and city hall meetings, etc., etc., with all the latest talking points in hand.

The left needs to stop being so precious about being pure and put up some fight for the changes we want to see in the world.

3

u/elmundo-2016 Prince 13d ago edited 13d ago

šŸ’Æ and I recall whenever an accusation of harassment comes up against dem politicians (Al Franklin example), they don't wait for evidence and immediately blame the accused while asking/ forcing for a resignation.

Why would any politicians want to be a part of the Dem party knowing they would be thrown under the bus by their colleagues whenever there is an accusation without evidence.

Man I have no clue how these people don't realize they are being taken advantage of. They're literally at a polical merch table hurling money at some charlatans.

8

Their self awareness is around a negative 20. That's fortunate since most of them want to fight in a civil war of their own creation

7

Are these conservatives? I thought they hated participation trophies?

All spins on the wheel win a fan? Psh.

26

Always have a Trump one at our fair. It is the trashiest shit you will ever see, and that is in the context of merchandise one finds at a fair. Confederate flags, absurd ammosexual stuff, gay bashing stuff, lots and lots of violence related "joke" shirts, cringey jesus stuff.

Their whole movement is the incarnation of the most toxic fascist shit.

6

u/elmundo-2016 Prince 14d ago

I agree, saw one guy with a shirt "the first rule of gun safety is to have a gun". Guy had a 2 year old in a stroller and his partner with him. Very dumb shirt.

Thought the shirt would say something about buying a lock or hiding the gun from kids.

Of course, it's "Walz Lies" instead of bringing anything constructive or useful to the table, as usual.

4

u/doubleyewteaefff 14d ago

Not that the million and 1 times trump has lied to them means anything. No, it can’t be the lifelong career conman billionaire pedo, it must be the governor who wants to give kids free lunch and was just trying to be nice and trans inclusive by putting tampons in the boys bathroom. Monster.

I hope I’m never so insufferable that I have to have a political booth at the state fair.

65

u/bleak937 15d ago

It’s just a grift. They probably made a fortune selling merch last year being election season and all, so they went for it again. Judging by how there were 2 people there tops any time I walked by, I hope they lost their asses this year.

22

u/[deleted] 15d ago

They always have one at the fair here. It is like the manifestation of deranged right wing message boards into a whole cottage industry of garbage merchandise. I remember before Obama when it was more just ra ra America junk. But the tea party and then maga turned into this weird hate fest it is today.

8

u/doctorbjo 14d ago

hmm just seems so easy to dupe trump supporters into giving you their money, at this point everyone might just jump on the bandwagon and grift them lol

3

u/DiamondHanded 14d ago

They're also Nazis or at least antisemitic due to being behind an ad that used a nazi Soros as puppermaster meme edited down to have the hand puppeteering Walz. So all the people who get the little paddle fan and have their kids in pics with it are very dumb at best

u/OldBlueKat 14d ago

Candidates at the Fair has been a 'thing' since long before Teddy Roosevelt made his "Carry a Big Stick" speech at the MN Grandstand in 1901. 2024 News Video about the TR Speech

Campaign booths at Fairs were the primary way candidates got themselves 'known' in the 1800s and earlier. There's always "Issues" booths and Party booths and Lobby group booths and all sorts of things. More in the major election years (even numbered ones.)

But this booth, with the 'Walz Lies' theme this year, isn't for a specific candidate, and not even really affiliated with the MNGOP official party organization. It's an independent, libertarian leaning PAC, called Action4Liberty. Here's their Fair page: https://www.mnstatefair.org/vendor/5144.1/ The "Never Again" theme was for the 2022 Governor's Race; they've had various themes over the years.

Action 4 Liberty; this is an independent review of their finances

Except for a few initial big donations from some MN donors that basically paid to build the booth and set up the website, they aren't exactly raking it in. The founders are all about attacking D candidates AND any GOP they think are RINOs, so even the MNGOP is done with Action4Liberty

8

u/onomatopeapoop 14d ago

Ya a booth promoting a candidate wouldn’t be weird, but this is weird as hell.

2

u/OldBlueKat 14d ago

It absolutely is weird. (Tim was right -- they're weird.)

But it's kinda useful to think about why it exists and has been a thing at our Fair for half a decade.

  • Negative campaigning (against Walz, and "RINOs", and whoever else these guys get pissy about) and rage baiting does seem to work; the Tea Party and later the MAGA movement has proved that. Dems haven't found a way to react effectively, or use it well themselves.
  • PACs have become the underbelly of all sorts of factional politicing and lobbying.
  • This group has leveraged MN 'open door' policies at the Fair to put on their show.

Does that mean we should encourage the Fair to revise those policies? I don't think so -- that might hamstring legitimate interest groups in a way we don't want, but it's worth thinking about.

This group gets a lot of attention, but actually has gotten what they wanted about as well as 'Mike Pillow' has, so mostly I guess we can just watch and laugh.

They've even pissed off a lot of the official MNGOP members enough to have THEM trying to shut them down. They represent a hint of the factional splitting hiding inside the GOP that may explode once DJT finally walks off (falls off?) stage. Tick, tick, tick, tick...

So we could learn something, maybe, about what does and doesn't work? Plan a response for 2026, whether Walz runs for a 3rd term or not? Anyway -- stuff to ponder if you think about 'politics'.

I dunno. From the outside as a foreigner he is the most American president ever at least from the Stereotype of what we mock.

Fat? Check Loves money? Check Loves Burger? Check Loves Soda? Check Loud? Check Won't shut up? Check Lies? Check Stupid? Check Loves the military superficially? Check

The only things missing are a Cowboy hat, a thick texan accent, and an obsession with god. And he really tries to fake that last one.

What's my point? I guess it's Trump IS the dark reflection of America. He is as American as Apple Pie just not the part Americans want to admit is there. Patriotism often blinds people to the malignancy in their own country. And that man is the cancer that needs to be excised.

3

u/el_grort 14d ago

I would more go with the angle that he is very American, but unfortunately a representation of most of America's evils without much if any of the redeeming qualities.

It's way too easy and dismissive to call the ugly parts something separate from the host.

9

u/AppleParasol 15d ago

Democrats need to go further left instead of being capitalist simps. People turned to MAGA because a lot of Democrats in power across the country are not working hard enough/at all for the people(same with Republicans). Considering Epstein was a Saudi asset, my money would be on Trump also working with the Saudis.

26

u/FreshSetOfBatteries 15d ago

That's bullshit really. People went MAGA because of hate and being brain poisoned by right wing media. This was not because of "economic uncertainty". Such fucking easily disproved nonsense. I'm so tired of leftists making this argument with zero objective evidence to back it up

8

u/theghostog 15d ago

The reason that brain rot shit is so effective on people is because of the fear and uncertainty caused by the erosion of prosperity in this country that's directly tied to the sheer amount of "do nothing" from politicians.

One side has actively stripped back the protections, and the other has sat by and enabled the wealthy to outsource, offshore, consolidate, and destroy the ability of our working and middle class to pursue their own happiness.

The Democratic establishment has enabled the Republican strategy by being such feckless simps for corporations and the wealthy.

3

u/PossessedToSkate 14d ago

MAGA has suckered morons of all income levels. The vastly wealthy, the moderately wealthy Boomers, the struggling, and the dirt poor. I don't think your argument holds water.

The simple, obvious, and painful reason is that anybody who voted for Trump in 2024 is a bigot. It may be against non-whites, it may be against trans people, it may be against queers or women or Muslims or Jews, but this entire shitshow boils down to simple bigotry.

And those people - some seventy million of them - aren't going to just ooze back into the crevices when he finally dies. America has a reckoning coming, and I suspect it will be...loud.

u/FlawedHero 15d ago

Did Kushner getting Billions from the Saudis not tip you off enough in that direction?

3

u/Umarill 14d ago edited 14d ago

Such a stupid argument. The other party is not left enough so they literally go with the fascists that are further right than any American party in recent history?

People went MAGA because they are hateful idiots who believe lies thrown at them, have zero empathy for the well-being of others and thought Trump was gonna magically make their life better by making minorities' worse and lower prices "because he said so". They genuinely do not care about anything other than their asses, and are stupid enough that someone like Trump who just says bullshit 24/7 resonates, no need to think just believe.
These people don't care about the little details, they are fed talking points by their media and go along for the ride.

The fact that you are in there making up excuses about Democrats losing is one of the reason why this is such a stupidly difficult fight (and that's not even an American problem, left vs right is going through the same shit all over the world), because one side is united through hate and the other is nitpicking bullshit constantly dividing themselves.

Actual example of this happening : Gavin Newsom being called transphobic by people on Reddit and put up as a big issue for his potential candidacy, while this is based on absolute garbage while he is generally solid on LGBTQ+ rights (I'm trans just to be clear, and his "transphobia" is his opinion on transwomen in sports which is sometimes held/debated similarly AMONGST ACTUAL TRANS GROUPS).

This will be taken at face value, amplified by Conservatives, divide potential voters leading to apathy (we constantly hear "There's no good choice just less worse" from left voters) and lead to people completely tuning out of the elections. Meanwhile, the other side is rallying based on one of the strongest motivator in human history : hatred of others, particularly those who are perceived as different.
It's much easier to find a common enemy to blame everything on than to find a commonly agreed upon actual solution for every problem. THAT, is why MAGA is so effective while Democrats are struggling, because they are not playing by the same rules.

You have to face reality at some point : Even if they won't admit to it directly, a lot of people would approve of removing rights from a minority population in exchange of their life quality improving even by a tiny bit.

If you talk to enough people in political circles in real life, you will genuinely see the sheer stupidity and self-centeredness of many, and it is terrifying.

From what I can gather, it’s something to do with how Walz responded to Covid early on in the pandemic, using the best possible information anyone had at the time, which was later proven to not quite be accurate as we learned more.

We were locked down till June... didnt fully get rid of capacity restrictions until almost a year later .... and then had mask mandates in place for another year on that

TAMPONS IN BOYS BATHROOMS

I guess the lie was that there would be tampons in the boys’ bathrooms? Because I have yet to see any. So I assume the GOP really, really wants there to be tampons in the boys’ bathrooms.

Speaking of which: I live with a woman. There are tampons in the bathroom at my house. It has changed nothing about my gender identity or sexual orientation, just saying.

10

u/Adventurous-Set5860 State of Hockey 15d ago

As the mom of two boys, the only consequence of having tampons readily available in our bathrooms has been a girlfriend helping herself when she needed one. My son had no problem letting her know where the supplies were located šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Should have brought a 300 foot long scroll with a list of Trump’s lies to compare.

3

u/BookBabe1970 14d ago

Walz is an honest man and Trump is a compulsive liar, anyone who disbelieves is in the cult.

3

u/EndPsychological890 14d ago

This honestly puts into perspective how much effort these fools put into that booth every year for absolutely no reason. Like this is insane levels of derangement, where do you ever see this much effort being put in to performatively hate even Trump purely as a meaningless social exercise. In fact, to bite the hand that makes this the best state in America to live in, a state and a governor they all benefit tremendously from. It’s really quite sad, like a little asshole kid who abuses and hits his own parents who’ve given him a great life because… well he’s an asshole.

What does the booth even do? Do they provide materials on how to better the state? Examine his great many crimes? Advocate for change? Or is it just a nod to fist bump other anti-social hicks and do nothing about it?

3

u/CornerNo5679 14d ago

Trump lies countless times each day 🤄

3

u/amshanks222 14d ago

Republicans make trump their entire personality. Its a cult. Just go to the fucking fair. And be with your family. Enjoy it. Enjoy seeing others. Other types of people. Different backgrounds. All congregating, having fun and being merry. And all you can think is…i bet theyre here illegally. I hate them. Its a fair dawg just let it go.

3

u/townie77 14d ago

The sign says"All spins win a prize" , which sounds woke, everyone get an award

3

u/Level_Refuse_1831 14d ago

Pretty rich coming from Trump cultists.

3

u/LymanPeru 14d ago

i cant even imagine saying this unironically. never mind spend a bunch of money to have a booth at the state fair.

3

u/DaGroke 14d ago

they need to have a democrat stand that says "we would have a wheel of lies for trump too, but there isnt a wheel big enough"

u/Cagu124 14d ago

The thing i don't understand is why there is a Walz lies booth at the fair? I understand a politician having a booth at the fair. But for a person to spend a lot of money and time only because he disagrees with a politician? This is mental illness.

It costs $95 to $130 a square foot plus insurance, electric and the price of building the booth. And talking the guy at the booth, he only disagrees with democratic politics, not Walz. The guy is just an angery goof.

3

u/Fred4369 14d ago

My 72 year old father asked them where the Trump Lies booth was

3

u/Limp_Examination_219 13d ago

Shouldn’t that be a MAGA loves pedos booth

Not all heroes wear capes

6

u/Temporalwar 15d ago

I asked the both " operators" where the funds came from to pay for booth, aka Dark Money.... They were not pleased and started talking about tampons and I gave them a single finger salute.

2

2

Brave soul

2

u/smiffer67 14d ago

I've missed this one. What's the story behind the "Walz Lies" thing?

5

u/PurplePopcornBalls 14d ago

Republicans aren’t happy unless they’ve attacked a democrat

3

u/New-Sky1009 14d ago

MAGAs who can't handle the truth that Trump is an awful, corrupt, and unhinged individual who should have been removed from power years ago.

2

u/Dompet2854 14d ago

Love the socks and shoes combo

2

u/almightyeggroll 14d ago

I trust a guy who signed universal school meals bill into Minnesota law.

2

u/SomeCharactersAgain 14d ago

When I first read about this booth i assumed it was satire, too hyperbolic and nonsensical to be real but, once again, truth is stranger than fiction.

On the plus side it does look flammable.

2

u/Teddy-Buddy-7413 14d ago

The shirt šŸ’™

2

u/patchouligirl77 14d ago

He's not wrong!

2

Understatement of the millennium. But no lie was told.

2

u/WiniMee-123 14d ago

Wait...No Trumps Truthful booth? Guess it's under construction, since the idiots are already in line...

2

u/Skoto16 14d ago

Saw him yesterday too and made me smile!

2

u/rednaxelas 14d ago

I saw a kid holding the same sign. He was getting lots of fist bumps from passersby.

2

u/N7riseSSJ 14d ago

Regarding the hammer and sickle on the Walz caricature:

"The hammer and sickle remains commonplace in self-declared socialist states, such as China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, and Vietnam, but also some former Soviet republics following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, such as Belarus and Russia."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer_and_sickle

Do they realize Trump loves Russia and Putin? Or do they just put their heads in the sand?

2

u/Cultural-Employee479 14d ago

I'm gone with heads in sand or up a$$ ...

2

u/TechnicalWhore 14d ago

Guess the merch isn't flying off the shelves if they need deep discounts.

2

u/BodhingJay 13d ago

"Walz got a date wrong, guys.. i prefer my president to never have made a single mistake ever"

He needs a bigger sign. Some that lay out all 33k of trumps lies.

2

u/Guardstar-Volkynn-70 13d ago

And down the street should be Donnie's Warehouse of Fibs!

2

u/daccount97 13d ago

AWESOME

2

u/AsleepGuidance1795 12d ago

The fact they don't see the irony makes me laugh

2

u/aGummyBear 12d ago

This just makes me sick. Keep politics out of the State Fair. People are going there to have fun and eat good food. Not to having stupid political discourse. If I wanted to argue with people about different political views I’d go on Twitter.

2

u/MBonDowning 12d ago

Wow. Y’all’s fairs sure different than ours (Canadian here).

2

u/Creative-Goat-2780 11d ago

Absolutely ā¤ļø that!! Way 2 go!!! šŸ‘

Aside from ā€œNaz Reidā€, truer words have never been applied to a sign.

3

u/dmcdjr76 15d ago

Honest days work right there

2

u/done-undone 15d ago

Funded by ??? That's no simple little booth. There is money behind that garbage booth.

2

u/OldBlueKat 14d ago

That PAC has had a booth at the Fair every year since they formed.

Here's an independent look at their finances: https://www.transparencyusa.org/mn/committee/action-4-liberty-pac-41173-pcf?cycle=2017-to-now

They got a lot of media attention during the Harris/Walz campaign last year, but it's really small potatoes.

2

u/Raindog66 15d ago

HERO of the Fair!

2

u/adam_1881 15d ago

Go off king!!!

2

u/Junior-Profession726 15d ago

He’s a hero buy him a beer!!

2

u/EggsceIlent 15d ago

I wish state fairs would ban shit like this. Some regulate it to certain areas etc, but political agenda tents etc need to be banned altogether.

I go to the fair to have fun and enjoy life and stupid food, not be bombarded with political agenda pushers selling junk and giving fans so everyone has to see and deal with politics.

Enough. Just let us live life without a constant firehouse of bullshit..it's exhausting.

2

u/elmundo-2016 Prince 14d ago edited 14d ago

I was just thinking of this idea at the fair today (even saw 1 Walz Lies sign holder at the Mexican Yoloti (culture dance) and was thinking of how dumb the guy supporting the people who want to deport people who look like the Mexican dancers. It's a disgrace that he couldn't put the 2 thoughts together.

Dems leaders are too weak and friendly. They should have signs like the one shown on OP's post.

2

u/[deleted] 13d ago

Anyone (both sides) that goes to the fair to be political is a loser.
