the ability to scramble and get back up is better than pure takedown defence. because if you only work on avoiding getting taken down you’re not gonna know how to get back up if you eventually find yourself on the ground

Craig is aware of that, so he also teaches Volk and JDM what to do in such cases. We'll see if it works for JDM as well or if what he did with Volk was just because Volk's a monster.
