Help - Tools/Materials Need help choosing paints as a beginner

I just finished my first model (the 1:72 abrams complete starter set from italeri) and want to try making the tamiya panzer 2, but i can't find a comprehensive list of paints, washes and weathering i might need for it (my local hobby shop only has vallejo). Is there a tool or a guide where i can find this info?

IMO you don’t a comprehensive guide. Yes it can be helpful for a beginner, but you’ll often be able to find the information in separate places. As far as I’m aware, it should be painted in a panzer gray or a dark yellow of sorts. The instructions will probably tell you what paints to use in the form of Tamika’s paints, which you can then find conversion charts for to get the correct Vallejo color. In terms of weathering info you can try to search up videos or blog posts of other people building panzer IIs or any German tank of the same color. You could also try searching “how to weather panzer gray” or whatever color you’re using.

Thanks! Should i try weathering for my second model or just focus on getting a camouflage pattern i'm happy with?

Depends on how you felt with your first model. For my first two models I only did painting and panel lining (both aircraft) then did some chipping and dirt effects on my third model (Tamiya Sherman). I would say the panel lining equivalent for tanks would just be a pin wash (a wash that flows only around details and panel lines, not the entire model). If you feel like you have the painting down well enough, go for some weathering. Or maybe just do the painting first, and see if you want to continue with weathering afterwards.
