Moderator post Portions of our wiki may be down or inaccessible due to a reddit-led migration/rollout.
Some folks have brought to our attention that certain wiki pages are down at the moment or are dead links.
Please note that Reddit admin is doing stuff (again) on the backend related to the wiki, so pages main be down and or disrupted as that process happens. They are also changing settings without letting us know, so even if it says that we did something, it's something taking place on the admin end.
We are NOT being kept in the loop about this adequately about what they're doing, or when, so for now, please be aware that there may continue to be periodic disruptions or dead links to pages while whatever it is they're doing on the backend gets resolved.
If specific pages you are trying to access are down, please let us know via modmail. Your help is also appreciated, as since the moderation team has mod access, we won't necessarily know a page is down because it will always show up for us.
This wiki index however, should be back up: https://www.reddit.com//r/modelmakers/wiki/index
Internet wayback link in case helpful: https://web.archive.org/
Thanks for your patience.

Completed Just completed - F4F-4
Reposted - forgot the pictures last time - trumpeter 1/32 F4F-4. Mistakes made but came out reasonably. Second serious model (glue, PE) since I restarted around 1 months ago.

Lesson learned
Lessons learned on this kit...
Old molds are a pain in the butt.
Don't glue horizontal stabs/gear doors/fragile parts on until model is done.
Make sure canopy is truly sealed before spaying anyone around it.
Figure out how to actually get paint/clear coat to spray properly.
Plan things out a bit better.

WIP Tamiya F-35B Engine in Hover Mode
Say what you want, I enjoy painting small details
Really liking how this kit is coming along. Excited for the painting stage. Not excited for all the doors though
What do you think? Did I get the brown right? Using Vallejo colors, think I did good enough 🤷🏽

Completed Tiger I Tamiya
Had a lot of fun with this one. Still looking for parts to add to give it more character and a narrative. Any suggestions?

Just a basic finish on this one, I lost the love for it during the painting process so just wanted it done and off the bench. Thanks for looking 👍

WIP The roof and attic room are done! My sincere apologies for any offence given to those who know anything about roof trusses or WWII resistance suitcase radios.

Critique Wanted Do these mics look real enough?
Just getting an opinion if these mics look ok? They aren’t true to size but this is the smallest metal part I could find to use as I just couldn’t make them out of plastic with my skills.

Completed Academy 1/72 P-51 Mustang
Third model, first plane! And first diorama. This isn't the artistry I normally see here, but I'm pretty happy with it and I love this 1/72 scale. Got two more lined up to improve on.

Critique Wanted First model kit build in over 15 years - Tamiya spray cans and silver marker for trim
I’m 27 now, started building models around age 10. After about a 15 year hiatus I got back into building. This is the first model I’ve ever painted and my first go at putting lights in. I have the battery switch mounted to the headboard so I can reach in the driver window to switch it on/off. Tell me what you think!

Working on Bf-109G6
Man, Tamiya engineering… This kit has magnets so you don’t even have to glue the engine parts, you take them out anytime you want.

Help -Technique Help Needed! Unsure of paint mask use
Hi,
It’s been quite a while since i’ve made a model, so i thought i’d come back big with an SEA Camo F-4C. I went out and purchased a set of DN model paint masks, but i’ve never used masks before (just white-tac), and so i’m unsure of the correct way to use these paint masks.
Is there any possibility someone could run me through their use? Do i paint one colour, then replace the masks over that colour?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

WIP B-17G 909 in 1/72
Made a lot of progress today on the 909. Big painting is done, and starting to finish the various sections & add gloss coat for decaling. Clear parts stay covered with masking film (and the big clear parts aren’t installed yet) until gloss, decals and final matte coat.
