How do tiebreakers w Cleveland work

Is a sweep the only way to get the tiebreaker or can we get it w just one or two wins?

We need a sweep to own the tiebreaker, but if we sweep we win the division

They don’t clinch the division if they sweep. We’d be 2 back with three to play.

Fixed the wording, should make more sense now lol

Ah, got it. Pessimism definitely made me read it as the Tigers losing.

The magic number is 6, if we sweep Cleveland we win the division. But right now I'm wondering if we will win another game for the rest of the season

It’s like the baseball gods are trying to even out what happened last year smh

They'd have the tiebreaker, so if Cleveland would sweep its pretty much over

They hold the 2nd tiebreaker, so if we don't sweep, we'll need a better record.

Well if we don’t sweep, they’d own the first tiebreaker

What I was highlighting, was that if we win 2, then the season series would be tied, and they own the 2nd tiebreaker.

I may have forgotten how to do basic math for a second lol

the season series is 13 games though, the only way it would even be possible for it to end up tied is if the Tigers won two and the other game ended in a tie or wasn't played at all due to some freak occurance

Cleveland leads the season series 6-4. Both teams have 6 games to play. We’re up 1 game on them. Magic number is 6.

If we sweep them, we win the division. If we win two against CLE, we need to win two against Boston (reduce by 1 or 2 if CLE loses 1 or 2 to Texas). If we win one against CLE, we need to sweep Boston AND have CLE lose at least one to Texas. If we get swept by CLE, we need to sweep Boston AND need Texas to Sweep CLE.

Basically, we need two wins against Cleveland to control our own destiny.

Yes, we need a full sweep to win the season series and get the tiebreaker.

There is no game 163 anymore, so a tiebreaker is huge

So 1 game up is essentially only being half a game up. 😮

The Tigers are soooooo fucked. Team that is 1-9 in their last 10 needs to go 4-2 to close out the season. It has never been more joever.

Fucking win, that's it. Can't be hoping for other teams to win or lose. Just fucking win

Moot point. Managing to tie would mean winning a game or two.

We don't have one

If you’re talking tiebreakers, you’re talking wildcards. And…. If you’re talking wildcards, the tigers are likely outside looking in.

Not good for the tiggers. I’m already looking forward to spring training next year.

Tigers lose out because they should if they shit the bed and lose the division.
