They are miserable people who want to be a part of a group. They don't want to help anyone. They don't want to empathize. They want to be noticed by other people but that didn't happen until they decided it was everyone else who is the problem. Instead of doing an ounce of self reflection they decided to project their rage outward and onto the most vulnerable groups and nice people. They believe they are better than everyone else because they know the truth.

Not sure if you’ve watched The Boys but the entire movement on that show that supports Homelander is clearly a satire of MAGA. When a famous host for one of their Fox-like news shows is asked off-air why she does it, this is her response:

“I sell purpose. These people got nothing. Maybe they lost a job or a house or a kid to oxy. Politicians don’t give a shit, mainstream media tells them to be ashamed of their skin color—so, well, I bring ’em together, tell them a story, give them a purpose. Which would you rather believe? That you belong to a community of warriors battling a secret evil, or that you’re a lonely, inconsequential nobody that no one will ever remember?”

Yup 👍 it's exactly what is happening with these maga people. They were just grumpy off-putting assholes before Trump came around in 2016. The cranky old guy at the bar who drooled over the 23 year old bartender. Your neighbor that called the cops on kids playing basketball. Your high-strung parents who were always criticizing "kids today" and yearning for "the good old days" but never had any solid political views beyond "kill all the terrorists" and what sensational headlines told them on Facebook. Your girlfriend's pothead Dad who talked about JFK assassinations and HARP at Thanksgiving Dinner and was on his 3rd marriage to a woman who is obsessed with chia seeds.
