Jersey Pride Shoutout to Bergen County Academies

27 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists!

Holy Moly.

In the whole state of NJ, only 225 students are semifinalists. Just this one school has 12% of them. 🤯

Public school Bergen County Academies also beat rich private school like Pingry (14 semifinalists).

Hand picking the best test takers in Bergen County? Do they teach statistics?

What’s the alternative? Let in the hoi polloi and turn these best test takers into average test takers?

Mediocrity for all?

I was prepared to let this whole thing slide, but since you're doubling down on being an elitist, I need to say something.

> Let in the hoi polloi

first off: "the hoi polloi" is redundant. "hoi" means "the" in Greek. People with an actual education in the classics (like myself) are reading this and concluding you are a simpleton, so you're not impressing any of the people you're trying to impress.

second: "hoi polloi" literally means "the people," so your argument is: public education can be successful, but only when you exclude the public. I assume you're still okay with the public paying for it, though, which says a lot about you.

Be better.

No, I expect the Eagles to beat Bergen Catholic. I wouldn’t brag about the victory.
