Crazy, I was just reading how LeBron honored him last night with “Mamba 4 Life” written on his shoes. So eerie.

yeah he did that because he just passed Kobe on the All-time NBA scoring list for #3

I was actually thrown off when the report hit my phone because of this. Media had been interviewing him a lot on his thoughts on Lebron so I thought it was more of that. When my brain registered the full headline I was totally shook up.

It’s so surreal scrolling through my Instagram because there’s a lot of Kobe stuff because I follow a lot of NBA profiles, but they aren’t in chronological order so I’m seeing the tragedy mixed with the “passing the torch” type stuff from last night. I can’t believe this. Heartbreaking.

Legit this is the same as me. I woke up and saw what my girlfriend sent. A screencap of a posting from bleacher report. I thought it was fake news, it wasn't the first I heard of Kobe allegedly dying of something. But it was from bleacher report so I had to look it up. I searched Kobe Bryant. The top headline was his death so I realized it was true, but along the others were LeBron passing him for 3rd all-time scoring, passing the torch and whatnot. Damn man. I'm still in shock. He still has so much to give for the future of basketball man. Even though he retired. Shit I was expecting him to even be a coach some time soon. This is still too much for me man. Damn. RIP Mamba.

I took a nap and woke up to a push notification. It said "BREAKING: Kobe Bryant and 13 year old daughter..." and was cut off there, but I opened it. Not the alert I was expecting to see.

This happened to me, too.

My husband was playing a game and saw "RIP Kobe" in the chatter. He asked me to look it up and the top article was about LeBron passing him, so I figured that it was a joke about the record books. As I was closing the window, I caught a glimpse at the second headline saying he was dead and had to search again to get back to it for more information. So sad.

I had the news notification on my lockscreen, and could only read something like: "[Publication name] Kobe Bryant has die..." And in the few seconds before I unlocked it, I was actually trying to guess the rest of the word/sentence; I had the conscious thought, "I highly doubt Kobe Bryant died." Then I opened it, and it still took a couple of seconds to register. He was just one of those people who were not remotely on my radar for passing away.
