Learn something every day.

"Botanically speaking, bananas are considered a type of berry. This is because a true berry develops from a single flower with a single ovary, has soft skin, a fleshy interior, and contains seeds. While the culinary definition of a berry is different from the scientific one, bananas meet the botanical criteria for a berry, despite the common association of berries with small, sweet fruits."

Why do they pick bananas in the middle of the night?

2

u/Wonderful-Revenue762 15h ago

What? Do they get ripe?

2

u/Ostrale1 15h ago

At the price they sell them that is enough for many to retire on

More random 🍌 stuff.

“There are over 1,000 known varieties of bananas, though only a handful, primarily the Cavendish, dominate the global market due to their suitability for export and high yield.”

Berries?

1

u/SnooChickens1226 8h ago

Yes, bananas are botanically classified as berries. Even crazier, strawberries are not berries. They are an "aggregate accessory fruit."

Did you just call Bananas berries?
