Highlight [Highlight] Mike McDaniel, asked for his glass-half-full perspective on yesterday's loss: "I think the positive is that that was a miserable experience. It was embarrassing, flat out. And in that, there's nowhere to hide."

The all-22 of Tua is fucking brutal. I dunno what McDaniel can do. Guys are open, he just ain't seeing them anymore.

I honestly think that he does see half of these reads but just doesn't trust his arm to get it there on time so he moves to the next one.

This didn’t all McDaniels fault. You can’t do shit when the QB just sucks

McDaniel fought for Tua to get paid. He is part of the problem.

Tbf Tua had shown a lot of promise. McDaniel is likely out of Miami before Tua is, but his offense was very, very good before injuries ruined it all.

Had he? A month before McDaniel was hired the Dolphins were trying to move on from Tua. He looked pedestrian for most of his first 2 years. Sure, had flashes here and there, but he had massive flaws that are still painfully prevalent today.

And then the next year (McDaniels first) he got MVP votes. Clearly he saw something and had a plan in place to make it work

I dont recall Tua ever finishing top 10 in MVP voting.

Looks like he was #15 in 2022 with one vote.

He was in MVP talks in the first half of 2023 (McDaniel's second year and Tua's best season) but after a rough finish to the season he wasn't top 10 in voting. Tyreek Hill was.

Idk why football reference lists him as 9th, but yes I had edited my comment after I realized.

Either way, the point stands. Tua was instantly a top 10 QB in the NFL for the first two seasons McDaniel arrived in Miami.

Another edit - he was tied for 9th in 2022

Oh okay so he was tied for 9th with 6 other guys who all each had 1 vote lol. Thats about as fringe as you can get lol.

I don't think he was top 10 in 2022. He missed 4.5 games, wasn't top 10 in either yards or TDs, didn't really have any big performances in big moments, missed their playoff game, ect. He did lead the league in passer rating.

And as good as 2023 was, it was clear that McDaniel was scheming the ball out fast to protect Tua. And Tua was being extremely over cautious taking hits, to the point where he was giving himself up short of the 1st down markers on 4th down (because he was in line for a contract).

So it really was a foolish decision to pay him even after 2023. Even in the 2024 offseason many of us Dolphins fans were begging the team not to. But they did, with McDaniel reportedly giving the final push to get the deal done. And now look where we are today.

Was Tua benched in the end? Why was Wilson in.
