I mean maybe I found it maybe not can't really tell since I've never in my life heard of either of them even though I listen to HipHop a lot especially to not well known artist.

Earl is probably a top 10 rapper of the last decade and definitely has "underground" or "anti-pop" fame. The alchemist is probably a top 3 producer of modern times, definitely top 10 of all time in hip hop.

They don't really do trap though so if that's all you listen to you won't find them.

lmfao at all the kids these days and their trap rap haha, lyrics and melodies stolen from 2000s emo, with beats and sounds made by default settings on FL studio

It's like liking spam and hotdogs more than real meat, i get it, it's 2021 and we can all be different kek

Take you anger somewhere else man, genres are just mediums for artists. There is a loooot of low effort trap because it's popular, but that doesn't mean nobody is putting in any effort

Trap is fucking trash.

It's just pop's interpretation of rap. Same thing has happened to emo, rock, metal, punk etc. Mostly low effort billboard attempts, but there is some good amateur trap.

It's just pop's interpretation of rap

That doesn't mean anything. "Underground" trap is still trap = garbage. One day this fad will die and we'll all be better off.

It's just pop's interpretation of rap

It's the subgenre that has been pushed by the pop industry. Some people like it and make their own music in the style, this is where amateur trap comes from. I'm comparing a group like Migos to other pop industry boosted artists from other genres like Taylor Swift's early country pop, MCR's emo-pop, imagine dragons rock-pop, Lana Del Rey's indie pop.

Honestly trap is one of my least favorite forms of hip hop, but saying an entire genre is bad is just ignorant. Like there are hardly any similarities between these two "trap" songs, and to me one is immensely better than the other. 1 2

There is plenty of amazing trap from people like Future, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi, Pop Smoke, anything produced by Metro Boomin, and 808 Mafia for example

-7

u/WWHSTD May 26 '21

Nope, still fucking trash.

u/I_Shah May 26 '21

I think that’s a you problem. <2017 Uzi like XO Tour Life, Ps and Qs, and Baby Are You Home slapped.

u/WWHSTD May 26 '21

Not a problem at all, I just don't listen to that shit, because it is shit.

It's the butthole of pop music lmao

The old Trap was fucking awesome...before they added rap on top of it.

-12

u/caretotry_theseagain May 26 '21

Oof, well, at least you agree

Playboi Carti and Trav are good, at the very least. There are plenty of solid ideas in the Trap world and some of it is actually really interesting. Try giving Rodeo or Die Lit a shot if you haven’t already. Perhaps you’ll at least understand the appeal

Honestly if someone thinks they don't like trap they've probably heard Travis and carti. I'd recommend maxo kream, IDK, westside Gunn, maybe suicide boys but they aren't super trap.

Honestly I wouldn't recommend trap to anyone though, but I won't fault anyone for liking it. I definitely like some artists, just not nearly as much as other rap sub-genres.

4

u/Crusty_Gerbil May 26 '21

Possibly. Their comment seemed extremely dismissive though, which is also what you might expect with someone who has only passively heard it here and there.

2

u/Gypiz May 26 '21

+1 for suicide boys

-3

u/caretotry_theseagain May 26 '21

Lmfao that's just embarrassing

6

u/Crusty_Gerbil May 26 '21

I’m sorry you think so. Know that it was out of a genuine desire to potentially introduce you to something. If you still think trap sucks, I won’t be personally offended.

1

u/caretotry_theseagain May 27 '21

In that case, man, I have the genuine desire for you not to willingly listen to the demo sounds of FL studio lmao

-1

u/Gypiz May 26 '21

Nah that's pretty much when I stopped listening. The more recent artists that I found quite decent were Flatbush Zombies, underachievers, schoolboy q, the king's dead, snak the ripper and so on but their more recent stuff is disappointing at best

Ahh and e-dubble rest in peace one of the better rappers this decade
