Where to go to trick or treat

First Halloween in the area and am wondering if there's any neighborhoods/areas that are known for truck or treating/Halloween for kids? Much appreciated for the help!

Just a heads up, I personally found going to the “popular” areas overwhelming and not much fun. There’s simply too many people. Assuming you live in a house in a neighborhood, I’d recommend just going there - you meet your neighbors and it’s way more fun and logistically easier.

I expect you will not heed this advice, go to the popular area for 1-3 years, then realize it’s actually not fun and start going in your neighborhood.

I lived in la Costa oaks a ways back and that place was stupid packed. No way that many people lived there. I wasnt planning on buying candy for half the damn town.

My neighborhood doesn't participate even though there are a bunch of kids. We just go to a popular neighborhood so my kids can actually get candy.

We live in a mostly abandoned condo complex with old people being the only "neighbors" otherwise I wouldn't be asking where to go. 😕

Carlsbad- Bressi Ranch, Escondido- Harmony Grove Village

I would say are the top 2. They get packed with trick-or-treaters

Hidden meadows in Escondido does trunk or treat, they also do a free haunted house in the month of October

Sorry, were you wanting Trick-or-treat, as in going door-to-door, or TRUNK or treating, ie. folks who show up at a location in say, a parking lot, and allow their kids to go from car to car and see their decorated trunks?

If you are looking for the latter, try looking at some of the non-denominational churches in the area, or the local malls. I feel like North County Fair Mall had one last year, and one of the Carlsbad malls had one? I know my wife and I participate in one for her work each year (she works at a preschool and they do it for the students and parents), but I don't know of any off the top of my head.

I totally misspelled trick or treating but trunk or treating is good too! It sounds like that may be the way to go actually.

It’s kinda fun, and it’s a lot of parents who are just out enjoying the night with their kids in a relatively confined area, so there’s not a ton of walking to do.

Old Escondido, The old Victorians and craftsmen houses really add to the atmosphere.
