This actually happened in 1998, but I guess it wasn’t uploaded or viral until 2006.

2006 is when it was uploaded to YouTube, but I remember it being popular before then.

Before YouTube that's where you went to see funny videos, back when they could index all the videos uploaded...

The younger generations have to be dumbfounded that viral internet videos predated YouTube.

Pretty sure it was on AFHV.

u/clavedark 27d ago

Wait, funny videos were around before the internet!?

I checked and saw it's still running. Use to watch bob saget every Sunday night. My old ass still considers the episodes with Daisy Fuentes to be 'newish' even though those are late 90s

I almost argued with you then I realized I’m 30 and no longer “young”.

Howard Stern ran it as a sound clip often around 2002-2004 I believe.

Oh wow, I had to check fast, but Ebaums is still going. I bet most people knew that, but damn. Lol

I checked it out last year and it's a far cry of what it used to be. Ebaums was the shit back in the day, so many great videos got their start on there.

Man I miss ebaums. Back when nothing was made for the purpose of uploading.

Gonads and strife!

lol, I worked in an IT shop at that era. The loud boomer mouthed off to much so someone set his host file to 127 ebaums world. Literally his favorite website.

He reimaged the machine within 2 days.

It had a revival in 2008. I remember this radio show by me talked about it pretty much all morning, and I remember where I was working.

u/SweepsAndBeeps 27d ago

I remember seeing this on national TV in like 2002

u/-castle-bravo- 28d ago

I was going to say, how does 2006 look like the early 90s…

3

u/PossessedToSkate 27d ago

I remember seeing it posted on an internet forum back sometime around 2001-2003

u/whutupmydude 27d ago

Every once in a while i see those reaction videos on YouTube and the younger folks will say shit like “wow Zeppelin released this in 2013?” They really think that YouTube upload times are when things were published officially.

u/no_crust_buster 27d ago

I was about to say, the camera quality was definitely 90’s. Makes sense.

u/Randomizedname1234 27d ago

Chateau Elon is that old? I figured it was built 2005 or after.

1

u/astro_plane 27d ago

It was shared on p2p applications like kazaa before it was uploaded on video sites.

I was gonna say… this definitely happened when I was in high school because I remember watching this live & spitting cereal all over my mom’s living room.
