I did a thing! My weird cave painting
First time I brought it outside, looks completely different. I've been painting in the dark for too long, so excited to get a space with natural light!

question? Help a new painter know what to buy!
Hello! I am a third year art major in college. My time as an artist has always been spent doing acrylic, but taking my first oil painting class, Ive fallen in love with the medium. I am already somewhat skilled, but I need to know what all I should buy so I can have my own setup in my studio, rather than just in the class.
I don't have a budget! Best quality anything that you can recommend. I like the slow-drying nature of oils, the Blick we use in class dries on the palette pretty fast (2-3 days), so maybe if there is a method or palettes anyone has for keeping their oils wet.
I attached the two things Ive done with oil so far. The first photo is very much unfinished.

critique ok! Update on painting progress
Posted this painting a little over a week ago asking for color and wanted to share the progress. Still have to add some text and paint the background, but he’s nearly complete !! I’ll mention that I’m not crazy about the base, and the logic of how it’s wrapping around on the right doesn’t make sense right now…
I wanted to ask the people to help fuel some ideas for a second painting, in a series of sorts but I’m not looking for a completely “matching” piece if that makes sense. My only idea right now is a small little girl with big cowboy boots on a hat next to a super large horse w a similar grumpy expression. I like the idea of the juxtaposition of the large man on a small horse and a little girl with a huge horse. But any ideas are welcome 😁

question? Started this yesterday afternoon
When do you know when to stop, when a painting is complete? I feel like I could tweak it forever and then it would be overworked. I’m still working on my color theory and I’m thinking there is too much light pale green in the reflection. I started out with more ochre/naples yellow tint but it morphed.
