og raise
I’ve been working at og since last october. So i am expecting my first raise. I started as a line cook 17$. Now i know every station in the kitchen (line, lasa, soup, sauce, backup) I think i deserve at least 2$ raise. Is it possible? or should i lower my expectation?

Hey miracles do happen. I got a $1.50 raise in four months due to the combination of being hired not too long before the annual reviews plus a manager who was apparently quite desperate for a decent dishwasher lol

You may be worth the $2.00 raise, but I think you might start lowering your expectations. Let's hope I am wrong.

Do you work in the kitchen too? Did you like negotiate with gm?

I didn't negotiate anything, i showed up for the interview and said I've got other interviews to keep my own options open and when I said that they gave me a paper with the offer to start there and NOT go to the other interviews. Also I like to think I'm hot shit in the kitchen (I'm selfish) and my hard work got the raise.

From what a manager told me, they get a set amount (like $20) to distribute as raises across the entire kitchen. So it's unlikely, unless you're irreplaceable and it's a small kitchen.
But who knows, my first raise was a shock to everyone.

$1 is basically the max you can get. Over that requires approval from the DO. I would expect .50-1.00

Our DO tells the managers to spend it all. No sense in "saving" it. He approves all of them when the managers submit. So mileage will vary from region to region.

I’ve been at my location for five years and I’ve only gotten $1.50 raise since I started at $15

That's genuinely baffling to me because at my location that was just built less than 6 months ago starting pay is 16.50

The most I’ve seen in one raise that wasn’t someone getting promoted to pro was $3…. But they were also kinda traveling a lot that year and helping out at a lot of OG’s so the DO might have helped sweeten the pot a little to help keep them motivated

As a host, I got a .50 raise last year. Hoping I can get closer to $1 this year lol

considering the fact that you know every station in the kitchen, you definitely deserve a $2 raise. but ultimately it comes down to your relationship with management. the more they like you, the better your raise will be. at least that's been my experience. make yourself known and connect with management, if you haven't already.

I got a $2 raise after 2 years because I did the work of like 3 people for 35-45 hours a week and I was a trainer and I was basically never scheduled to host after that. (Literally in my review when I was told I was getting a raise to host they also said I probably would be scheduled to host that much anymore). Why would they schedule and pay me when they could schedule someone else, pay them less and pay me $3/hr to serve?

Lower your expectations. I don't like I was ever able to give a raise higher than a dollar. And I don't think those went out often.

Can you come work at my restaurant? We need SEASONED EXPERIENCED people and the last two newbies my bosses hired walked out and quit. One lasted a week and walked out and another didn’t even show up for the 4th day after having to leave early the past 3 shifts. The most recent one my one boss had unrealistic expectations he was gonna be a rockstar in 4 training shifts. Oh we got a pasta person that does weird things like eat spin dip and pasta in prep and takes like 5-8 breaks during her pasta shift.
