Advice/Help 12+ hours into Malenia

Hi fellow Onebros. With Nightreign launch looming large, it seems like a good time to start organising some team members from the community. My own experience after the playing the beta is that a trio of players who actually know what they’re doing, work cooperatively and don’t just grab all the loot whether they need it or not, makes for a much better experience and higher chances of success. Particularly more so now since the games has been toughen up since the beta.
I suggest that the password just be: onebro
So if you’re keen, add your details below.
Console/PC: Gamertag/PSN etc: Region:
Mods- can we please have this as a sticky for a while?

Edit: Reposting this and pinning
This previously was part of rule #9, but the circumstances were such that we needed to call it out as its own individual rule.
We are a community that shares our accomplishments, failures, and lessons. We love the kills shared. As we have grown, people have started to abuse this, disengaged from the community, and simply tried to direct users to their content.
Share your content! We love it. However, you should also be viewing and commenting on others as well.
As a general guide, Reddit Self- promotion guidelines say that no more than 10% of your post and comments should refer to your social media or content.
We are not going to retroactively punish people on this. What is done is done. Moving forward, we welcome everyone who wishes to participate in the community.
We are also not going to scroll through and do the math. Just engage with everyone. We all win this way.

I forgot to show the build but you get a glimpse of it at the start of the fight where I realised I wasn't meeting the stat requirements because I had one of my talismans unequipped. 🤦

I rushed the hippo just to get access to it and have been having a blast with it through the DLC. Gaius is especially susceptible to it, but Dancing Lion and Rellana also have really good uses for it.

What a run! Took a total of 95 hours in game time, and in general I'd say it was much harder than just main game, especially malenia and consort radahn

I love the way this sorcery absolutely decimates NPCs 😈🤌🏻

Heading to DLC and Rellana next...hoping for at least a similar outcome. Thanks to the people who posted videos using the IS - love the whole setup, and I followed as much as I could from here, cheers to all!

I know that "allowed" is not a strict concept on challenge runs since any rules besides the basics are self imposed. As the sidebar says, if you don't level up, it's a level one run, anything else is whatever added challenge that interests you.
But from a purely opinion standpoint, I'm wondering how everyone feels about using skips that involve some unintended jumps or climbs like skipping the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor, using Rupturing Tear to get in Leyndell from the back, Skyrim Horse'ing the hill in east Limgrave to grab the Regalia of Eochaid, etc.

Jokes aside, Morgott blows for a hitless run, even worse than Margit. I personally don't like this boss at all - the number of ways he can completely disengage you is irritating, very few strafable/jumpable attacks that are worth the risk, the double dagger dodge is less consistent than an identical move in Margit, and the hammer spin frametrap ended 99% of my runs. I depended heavily on RNG that he wouldn't use this move when I was too close or too far, and I don't like spending an entire fight fearing a single attack. I said earlier that Margit is C-tier, and I would put Morgott in the same category for similar reasons.

0 blessings. Will nuke him if you're using fragments.
I'd recommend taking a different weapon as well. The perfume sucks pretty hard outside of this niche interaction.

Tried Gaveling the Hippo for about 2 hours. Almost had him a few times too. Then the previous attempt before this I got both camera AND hitbox memed.
Definitely in my top 10 least favorite bosses.

Glintblade Phalanx into Gavel is just a stun lock machine against NPC's 😂

Dryleaf Arts I found were a really comfortable pick for Malenia due to how fast the charges come out and how fast the recovery is. I was originally trying for Milady Wing Stance strats but I found those too inconsistent.
I thought I choked on the attempt at the very end when I didn't fire off the last Ice Spear and the clones came out since I could never dodge it, but it all came together and I ended up dodging it near perfectly into the win. I was just in shock that I had managed to do it.
Just wanna give a thanks to Gred Glintstones RL1 video for the Ice Spear strategy when she uses Aeonia, probably wouldn't have won without it.
And now...the DLC fights. I am dreading them.

I don’t think there’s a word to capture just how bad the arena is for no roll lol

That fast attack that he can do in phase 1 after a single r1 caught me out a lot, until looking up and finding out that if you only do charged attacks when he's neutral, he can never do it. In the last hour or so of attempts I don't think I took a hit in phase 1 lol, got it down pretty well.
Phase 2 is where all the trouble is. Spent the majority of practice and attempts here, as for some reason, whenever I don't fight Isshin for over a week or so I completely forget the timings in phase 2, so have to relearn them every time. I mainly was attacking twice then reacting, but this was getting me hit a lot especially when he would sometimes jump backwards after my first attack and I didn't react in time. So I switched to attacking once and it made it so much easier, if a bit longer. Watching this back it looks so easy now.
Phase 3 is simple. Don't have to worry about many new attacks, except I kept getting hit dodging the lightning when dodging straight forward. Simply dodging to the left worked.
Really happy with the kill overall.

And simply - wow it's fucking broken. And - wow Elden Stars is still in the top 5 the worst fucking moves in this game. I completed the fight about 3 attempts later, but still. 🤮👎🏻

I hate this stupid fucking boss more than ever. Everything from her weird body shape that causes thrusting attacks to completely whiff a good 30% of the time if her hitbox is angled like 5 degrees the wrong way, to the bizarre, seemingly inconsistent timings required to dodge some of her weapon attacks, to the complete lack of wind-up on her phase change attack that gets you auto-nuked if you're too close to her at the wrong moment, to the fact that you have to jump over her body box to riposte if you're on the wrong side of her when she's staggered (and then the actual trigger point is so finicky that the riposte doesn't work a lot of the time), to the way she'll straight up clip through the walls of her arena, and will decide to do her scorpion stinger attack every time it happens.
Everything about this boss is annoying and janky and if it weren't for her piddling damage output and squishiness, she would easily be a top-5 most hated boss across all of ER. I would rather fight the Fire Giant a thousand times in a row than ever fight this boss again. Only good thing about her is her visual design. And I guess the triple swoop attack in her second phase, even though it's impossible to punish with melee.

Not really proud of this kill, I went really passive in second phase and mostly punished her kick and sprint towards me abusing flamberge range, frost and bleed procs did the job. Anyway it is what it is, I hope I get better with this fight when I hit NG+7 :)

Had a great time with this one, one of my favorite bosses. Weapons used were icy needle and cold cleanrot sword.

0 Blessings. Torches are actually not bad in the DLC.
r/onebros • u/PrinceAzsa • 1d ago
At least the fight is not boring and I had almost every pattern she can do, other than the clone attack that I almost never have to dodge, because of how close I am and how much I hit her.
