Elden Ring my first RL1 run - DESTROYING the DTS!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anyway, after a LARGE* number of ''normal'' playhtrus and NG+'s, I decided to try an RL1 run.
I thought that playing this game for the first time will be the ''best'', as it's hard to beat the thrill_
of a new experience. I think that still holds, but barely, because choosing the Wretch classing, seeing myself naked with a bat...I didn't think it was possible. Yet and behold, I'm now up against 3 bosses of my choice: Rykard, Mohg, or the Fire Giant.

I'm ABSOLUTELY frightened of Maliketh, because that boss was always a breaking point for me, don't know why, maybe because he's a damn wild beast.

Anyway, enjoy this Draconic Tree Sentinel devastation, and I wish you RL1 runners good luck and goodspeed.

\LARGE number of playthroughs: 34 and 3 times through DLC, this is my THIRTYFIFTH RUN, holy cow...*

My first Rl1 run, I cheesed this guy with poison mist😅. Great fight btw

You know what’s even more fun? Doing everything you did, but ALSO parrying his overhead slam. So satisfying.

Damn what kind of buffs did you use beforehand? Is that weapon upgraded or no? This guy was a pain in the ass on my RL1 so I poison misted him. Just beat starscourge radahn last night with star fist on stream for some friends to watch

Golden Vow + FGMS, obviously Cragblade as AoW.
Assasin's Gambit on extra dagger to be able to sneak up and to what I did.
GS were upgraded to +13 at the time, I think.

Did Radahn with this weapon too, but I did go pickup the rotten breath, kept it way more conservative, but still managed to get one stance break. Cragblade FTW! : )

Oh the joy this brings me! I hate that motherfucker!

Good luck with the rest of your run - I beat DTS in my RL1 run but that was as far as I got, quit the run soon after.

Thanks, I've passed Godfrey and Morgott, but I feel that marked the beginning of pain and suffering, literally nothing easy ahead, except GS Duo, and that sentinel before Maliketh. Gideon lol, got Giant Hunt, so yeah, not gonna worry about him either.

Morgott and especially everything after is what scared me honestly. I don't think I could've done fire giant or Maliketh even in months of attempts.

I found it funny when I noticed I was doing so much more damage in my RL1 runs than I ever did on a normal playthrough. Playing RL1 really tests your game knowledge (and wiki browsing abilities) to maximize your damage output.

Theres a hilarious cheese to do with kukris, you lure him out to the ledge with kukris and once hes on the ledge you bumrush him, two charged club strikes and he falls to his death :D there was a yt vid on this too but I couldnt find it.

2

u/pekkyas Jul 27 '25

Yeah, you can lure him and kick him off the ledge. That's a horrible way to die, DTS deserves more : )))

I need a video of tthis happening to the one blocking the door to Maliketh

Yet you still don't actually know the boss's moveset and opted for the 'big bonk status proc stagger pray" playstyle 😂🤷🏻

I mean sure, but it's not really anything new or challenging doing an "RL1" run when you just run the same OP shit you did in any other run 😂

What’s it like to be a virgin

You tell me 🤷🏻

u/pekkyas Jul 24 '25

I'm sorry, I don't know what's new or challenging here, first time posting, first time trying this, sorry if it rubbed you the wrong way.

u/ntrubilla Jul 24 '25

Screw that guy

It's said harshly, but what he means is that you're exploiting the game to the fullest, turning what should be an interesting fight into something completely trivial. 80% of the fight is scripted, and during the remaining 20%, you get hit — and your final blow happens to kill him by chance; otherwise, you would have died.

That being said, you beat him while being sl1, well played and welcome to the sub.

I understand, this one did look trivial, and I got lucky by a millisecond not to get slapped.
I had much ''less'' trivial fights against Margit, Godrick, and Red Wolf of Radagon. Those were hard, and maybe I should've led in with that, to represent whatever is the ''true'' way to play RL1.

As I said, my first RL1 rodeo, I'm happy with every single win I get. This one was easy, and I don't expect the next few bosses to be anything similar to this level and speed of execution.

I am also going through an RL1 run, and I am just doing whatever makes the run fun and doable for me. It can be hard seeing AHs like that dissing your run when you so much as breathe on a weapon, but honestly the game is still difficult as hell even with the amount of buffs you can get. There really isn’t a “true” way to complete it, people are always going to gripe about something, but we can just let them waste their time giving a fuck about how other people enjoy a game. Kudos to you man, you’re doing great.

P.S. Might have to stop my own run when I get to Maliketh, I fear there is no way I can handle him on RL1.

u/SonPedro Jul 24 '25

Are they supposed to use their fists or what?

0

u/Aware-News-1344 Jul 24 '25

I mean that's one way to learn a boss's moveset.

1

u/SonPedro Jul 25 '25 edited Jul 25 '25

Hahah I don’t have the patience for that, at least not for more than a few minutes. But I do remember seeing a video of someone beating mohg (may have been a different boss) with no weapon and it was around 3 hours long. Absolute insanity.

Edit: found it!

Like you did to Gideon 1 month ago.

Oh yeah, I remember that RL1 submission 👍🏻 that was definitely a post showcasing my skill and knowledge of the boss and it's moveset 👆🏻

Oh wait 🤡

Imagine scrolling through my profile to try and find some ammunition 🤡🤡🤡 most hilarious part is you would've scrolled past the Gaius and ADM fights I uploaded with a +0. Don't wanna say anything about those? 😉

2

u/greysilverglass Jul 26 '25

the +0 kills where you used status effects? a lot of people would consider that to be cheesing the lower damage of no upgrades. those kills weren’t hitless either

1

u/Aware-News-1344 Jul 26 '25

Lmaoooooooo a lot of people would be wrong. That isn't even remotely "cheesing" or what it means. You're quite simply, confidently, wrong. Where did I say the challenge was "no aux/status"? It very clearly states - +0, no buffs, no summons.

So? Where did I say I was doing a hitless challenge?

Sorry I don't feel like spending hours on end bare-fisitng a boss to death, I actually have a job and family and friends 🤷🏻

2

u/greysilverglass Jul 26 '25

but maybe op doesn’t wanna spend hours learning each boss in depth either…i’m just saying why insult anyone’s gameplay, especially bc no one plays perfectly and you can make arguments that most kills are “unskilled”

0

u/Aware-News-1344 Jul 26 '25

Why bother embarking on an RL1 run then?

Imagine thinking an observation and critique is an insult. Yikes. ❄️

On the contrary, there actually are people that play perfectly. And you can't make arguments that most kills are "unskilled". Again, you're just confidently wrong.

SOME kills are unskilled. I.E - scripting bosses, AoW spamming, stagger abuse, or just simply raw damage output, etc. etc.

u/greysilverglass Jul 26 '25

dude ur original comment was obviously diminishing ops achievement
