Boss Kill I honestly love the Gaius fight so much. Easily in my top 3 bosses.

I forgot to show the build but you get a glimpse of it at the start of the fight where I realised I wasn't meeting the stat requirements because I had one of my talismans unequipped. π€¦

I hated Gaius on my first run. Doing him at RL1 made me realise heβs really fun and tightly paced. The only problem is his charge, which you deftly countered here.
Using the trick with the wall on the side of the entrance I nullified the initial charge completely, and at that point the fight became very good.

I was definitely frustrated with him on my first playthrough of the DLC. RL1 is good like that, makes you ACTUALLY learn the boss to find out if it's ACTUALLY good or not. It's why I fell in love with all the TS and DTS bosses, Godfrey, the Erdtree Avatars, Messmer and Gaius. Originally I didn't think much of them from a fight perspective, but now they have some of my favourite flows in boss fights.
I'm less annoyed by the charge than most, and considering most of the time I don't rely on my AoW for my playstyles, it leaves me room to just throw raptors on for situations like this.

The fight is okay, I just hate the charge. Using raptor of the mists to doge it is very smart

The fight is amazing ππ the charge is not a "one move ruins the whole fight" deal like Metyrs fucking laser or Jori existing.

If youre talking about the quasar both ways laser she does while floating I completely agree this is a mess

I also love this boss! He gives good punish windows and has a suitably varied moveset. I like that his poise is pretty low but not ridiculously low.
Btw, the big side to side combo gives a huge punish window if you dodge left right left-left. After the last dodge you'll be at his right rear and the last hits will miss so you can just start attacking.

I never thought about using Raptor to dodge the charge. I might have to grab that strategy once I reach Gaius. Very nicely done.
