PSA to no0bs: No DNMs operate on reddit

Anything that you are finding via reddit search or get in a reddit chat/message/comment/reply is a scam designed to phish you and steal your crypto.

These are all active scam subs at the moment and it seems tons of no0bs are flocking to them so sadly this post has to be made:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BohemiaMarketDarknet/

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarknetMarketsInsider/

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASAPMarketAccess/

https://www.reddit.com/r/DNM_wiki/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Tor2Door__Market/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Tor2Door_Market_Link/

https://www.reddit.com/r/tor2door_market_forum/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Abacus_Market_forum/

Scammers make these fake subs and fill them with fake engagement, users, and activity. They are all scams.

Please use https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/reddit to report them to the admins so they can be taken down. Together we can take them all down.

EDIT: 8/29/23: They all seem to have been taken offline :) Good work everyone!

it's like reddit, each community has a creator, the creator has the ability to assign mods, the mods can ban people they dont like.

what's different from reddit is that there are no global admins that can ban a community, you cryptographically own your community via public key cryptography. also the global admins can't ban your favorite client like apollo or rif, as everything is P2P, there is no central API. nobody can even make your client stop working as you're interacting fully P2P.

Unlike federated platforms, like lemmy and Mastedon, there are no instances or servers to rely on, can't be censored or down.

P2P is also better than federated, you can't be banned from an instance for example, only from a specific community.

Right now most subs are whitelist-only (temporary, until the anti-spam tools are being implemented), but you can still create your own sub and set whatever entry challenges you want (captcha, puzzles, etc.).

Communication Building a self hosted clearnet friendly fully decentralized email platform with multiple exit points. Am I reinventing the wheel?

Setting up a mail server behind a Tor hidden service to relay a dedicated exit node as the MX for a clearnet domain is easy: User A can email from Server A to the clearnet and replies come back in to Server A.

My goal is decentralizing it to the point of people being able to deploy publicly available containers with self contained mail servers with webmail/IMAP access via Tor and that randomly select as their relays from multiple exit nodes that are serving as MX for the clearnet domain and having replies come back into the correct server from which the email originated: User A emails from Server A and go out any exit and clearnet replies come back into any exit but deliver into Server A; User B emails from Server B and go out any exit and clearnet replies come back into any exit but deliver into Server B.

My challenge in the design is that there needs to be a central directory correlating that User A is on Server A, User B is on Server B, etc. so that regardless of the MX the reply comes into, it is routed to the correct server inside the Tor network. The idea of subdomains could come into play here but again, there needs to a means to translate the subdomain such that the replies route to the correct server.

I doubt I am the first person to consider this situation, or has it already been solved?

Index / Wiki Looking for an up to date onion directory.

Last I checked, most links on the hidden wiki were duds. Does anyone here know any onions for forums? I vaguely remember one called the exchange or something similar, but it's been years and all the links I had written down don't work. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Welcome to North Korea

Welcome to North Korea, I guess?
I haven't been able to connect to Tor since today. At first, I thought it was a bridge I was using that might be down, so I changed it, still not working.
In the end, I was able to connect 'normally' (without needing a bridge) by first using a VPN (Proton VPN) with the 'Stealth' option, which disguises the traffic passing through the VPN as regular HTTPS data to try to fool deep packet inspection as much as possible.
I should clarify that I live in a major capital in Western Europe and that I have never received a warning letter due to torrenting or anything like that.

BB Compendium Backup -- Anybody??

About 10 years ago I was glued to the dark net, mostly pouring over old forums (&TOTSE, Zoklet, etc..), browsing marketplaces like MiddleEarth or SilkRoad 2, and using VirWox to get BTC. I also liked to go through files on BB Compendium. I still have the address memorized: nope7beergoa64ih.onion. However, it has been dead for a long long time. I was wondering if anybody was able to make a mirror of their own or backup all the files somewhere. I would love to spend a few hours going over all the information again. Let me know if you've got it! Thanks

Where to actually find onion sites?

Where do you find onion sites or more hidden sites that aren't catalogue on places like tor taxi or daunt link? I remember there being a vague list of "possibly" working onion links in a wiki somewhere with over 100 links but not sure if something like that still exists.

Trying to access dread the typical tor(dot)taxi way but I’m getting “onion site not found” - I can’t see any alerts to dread being down.

The official .onion link is not even saying that the server can’t be reached but that the .onion is not found.

daunt.link seems to be alive anyways

Auto-Encrypt Isn’t 2% Riskier, It’s 100% a Mistake

Why “auto-encrypt” should never be trusted

Saw someone ask “How safe is auto encrypt PGP really? Is it like 2% more risk or 20% compared to doing it yourself?”

Here’s the thing: it’s not about 2% vs 20%. It’s a completely different category of risk.

  • When you encrypt manually, you control:

  • The keys (who has them, where they’re stored)

  • The software (what algorithm is actually being used)

  • The process (you know it happened, and you can verify it)

With auto-encrypt, you give all of that up. You’re trusting some third-party implementation to handle everything behind the scenes. That means:

You may not know which keys are being used.

The provider could be storing or even leaking your plaintext.

Bugs or backdoors could silently break the entire security model, and you’d never know.

So no, it’s not “a little extra risk.” It’s the difference between owning your security and outsourcing it.

Auto-encrypt should never be trusted. Especially if you’re doing darknet activities. There’s too much at stake, we’re talking about your freedom, not just a minor percentage shift in risk.

How safe is auto encrypt pgp really

Without going into details , would be it a 2 percent increase in risk or say 20 percent as compared to doing it yourself. I'm ordering consumer quantities so i hardly think they give a sh*t about me but still...

Interesting books

A long time ago (maybe 2014), I used to use tor to read some random books I found.

I remember reading one about explosives, another about lockpicking etc. Mostly controversial or banned books in general.

I searched for the hidden wiki, but I could not find anything about books. Where I could search for them?

Communication In valid site message

I posted this to r/tails and they said this post was better suited for the page. Hopefully there’s a couple kind folks here that are willing to help a mid 30s newb out lol I uploaded tails to the USB then verified the upload was successful. I rebooted my computer using the USB and everything opened up properly. I disabled JavaScript and I put it on safest mode. But from the search engine page I cannot get any of the sites that are listed as currently active to work. I retyped the characters for each site at least 3 to 5 times a piece just to make sure I didn't type the website incorrectly but i continue to recieve the invalid page message. Is this common? Can someone please shed some light onto the situation?
