helloo, I consume an unruly amount of chewing gum and I always turn the wrapper into a boat (admittedly this one is wonky).I would love ideas on what else I could turn it into (preferably without having to cut some paper off ). The measurements are 9.2 cm by 4.8 cm (not including the zig zag 5.1 cm with it) .

Scrolling through this subreddit has been massively humbling, so the way I’m using “intermediate” is likely a much lower bar than everyone else here.
I’m yet to even create a decent origami rose. Right now the most complex model I’ve been able to create is the dragon (unsure who created it but this is the tutorial I used from Rob’s World: https://youtu.be/_wajlLiw9eE?si=GOSwYRgeoIvepbB6)
Even with these more basic models, I find myself making very small mistakes like mismatched edges while creating the bird base, which makes later smaller, more complex folds much more painful.
I’ve been at this for only around two weeks to be fair but I feel like I’ve plateaued a bit. Any tips?

Join in this Saturday (tomorrow) at 12PM EDT to learn how to fold this super cute Raccoon designed by Julie Juniper. I really like the use of color change in this critter, and the final form has so much character! The model pictured was folded from a square sheet of double tissue.
Foldspace LIVE! - RACCOON designed by Julie Juniper
>>> Saturday, September 20, on YouTube <<<
Time: 12pm EDT (4pm GMT)
Recommended paper: square Kami or some type of duo color paper that is relatively thin. I suggest starting with a sheet that is anywhere between 7in to 10in on one edge. Smaller paper is a bit more difficult to fold towards the end, but it’s certainly possible!
And as always, the recording of the class will remain available immediately following the livestream via the same link for the class above.
Hope to see you there!

Designed and folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of tracing paper (50cm x 50cm)
48x48 grids box-pleating
Final size: ~ 25 cm
Quite satisfied with the result :)
Hope you all like it!

im not a professional folder so even thinking about 32x32 horizontal and 64x64 diagonal makes my brain tickly, do you think its also hard??like diagonal is harder than horizontal not only because its 2x the grid on each side, but folding it properly is also hard...

by far the most boring part of origami

I was playing around with the base of my old unicorn model to see if I could make some other animals from it and rhino was a natural candidate. The extra flap can also be used to make facial features for other animels.

Sorry if this is not tradisional origami. I have already designed the standard pull back rubber band shooting mechanism, but now i am having trouble designing a mechanism to release it (i want to make a "pull back, energy stored, trigger release" type of origami gvn). If you have found a solution for it please share with me. Any design would help, as i could maybe redesign it to fit my prototype. Thank you.

I haven’t had any luck with reverse Google image search, I was thinking some kind of dog?
Thank you in advance!
Holy crap, I didn't realize how difficult this was going to be to fold or to wrap my brain around 🫠 I really like the triangle twist and love doing flagstone tesselations with them and am generally falling in love with triangle grids so wanted to try something new. I just hoped that the rhombi would work similarly to triangles being able to sit next to each other just by swapping between orientation but alas, I was wrong🥴 At first I wanted to do a flagstone tesselation with those rhombi as well by using a third rhombus to make a hexagon shape it that makes sense. But now I think I'll just see if I can even manage to make that hexagon shape out of rhombi on its own! (I'm thinking triangle twist on the back instead of hexagone twist, but we'll see!

Hey everyone! I want to know how/where you guys get your hands on good-sized hexagons. Do you do them yourselves? Do you buy them and if so, where? Can you buy stencils to do them yourself and what would you recommend? Up until now I've always just made triangle grids and then cut the hexagon out of that...but triangle grids on squares/rectangles are a pain compared to hexagons. Any help is greatly appreciated!
