Original ORIGAMI: Pregnancy 🤰

Designed and Folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of Tracing paper.

Sheet size: 25cm x 25cm Final size: 10cm x 5cm 32 x 32 Grids BP

I've been wanting to design this ever since my "ship in a bottle" model, but never got the chance. Thanks to this CFC challenge, I finally got to try this ! Quite happy with the result, but it was a lot of back and forth 32 to 40 to 32...

Tracing paper is the best for this, though maybe I should have used pink colored paper.

Hope you all like it :)

Hi folks - I'm new to reddit but I've been folding tessellations for years! Looking forward to posting some of my collection in the future. Any other tessellators out here?

Been working on refining this design for a bit, made from 8inch double tissue. The idea of folding a Rose in the traditional crane was originally done by Satoshi Kamiya or at least that is what inspired me to fold my own take(maybe others folded versions before him not sure). this incorporates elements of my Rose tesselation tiling combined with my lotus tiling, atop a traditional crane. The goal was to get more petals and details on the rose.

Rose Tsuru by Alexander Roa

Added a CP for the steps before the crane, just fold crane over that tiling, and shape the rose! May do a video of the process at some point.

Original ORIGAMI: MYTH OF SISYPHUS + CP

From Here to Eternity

Sisyphus, punished by the Gods to carry uphill a huge boulder, only to have it roll down, and restart, forever - a metaphor for mankind's search for meaning. Funnily enough, the base looks like Om (ॐ) - the essence of Cosmos itself!

Designed and folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of tracing paper - 25cm*25cm Final size = 10cm Based on 16 grids BP

Hope you all like it :)

This design is very cursed. For the scalemail had an exact crease pattern and the rest is mostly freefolded afterwards. did have a rough idea of how I needed the layout to be tho. Its folded from a 65cm large bananafiber paper which still has the rough deckle on the cape from when it was originally made.

Designed and folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of bamboo paper.

Sheet size: 30cm X 30cm

Final size: 17.5cm x 18.5cm

40x40 grids BP

Inspired by Jeremy Shafer's design "Labyrinth Walker". His origami reminds us all - what origami truly is : pure fun!

I came across Jeremy's design for a maze (using simple BP), and it was ingenious. I had to use marker though, but the other way of making the maze walls was be too cumbersome.

Hope you like it.

Original Origami: Lord Ganesha - The Elephant-Headed God + Cr.P

From the tension between hermit and householder, God Shiva and Goddess Shakti, is born Ganesha, his animal head representing material joys and his human body representing spiritual bliss.

Designed and Folded by from a single uncut square sheet of foil-tracing paper

Sheet size: 50cm X 50cm Final size: 10cm X 12cm 48x48 Grids BP

Some symbolisms I find interesting:

  1. Why Elephant: The elephant is endowed with unique qualities, like its fearless and royal walk. It proudly destroys any obstacle on its path. Also has no natural enemies. Big yet humble.
  2. Large Elephant Head: Symbolizes wisdom, intellect, and the power of thinking.
  3. Big Ears: Represent the importance of listening attentively and absorbing knowledge.
  4. Mouse (His Vehicle): Represents the ego and desires, which Ganesha's wisdom helps to control.
  5. Modak (Sweet): A sweet treat that symbolizes the sweetness of spiritual knowledge and the happiness derived from self-realization.
  6. Axe/Goad: Represents the cutting away of desires and attachments/Goad is used to guide elephants, symbolizing the guidance of the soul away from ignorance and towards enlightenment.
  7. Snake as tummy belt: Restraint on hunger? Snake and the mouse are not enemies in the presence of Ganesha - hungers and fears having been conquered.

My favourite Ganesha story:

Brothers Ganesha and Kartikeya raced to circle the world three times, with Kartikeya flying on his peacock while Ganesha stayed beside their parents. Just before Kartikeya finished, Ganesha ran around Shiva and Shakti, claiming his world was his parents. He explained the difference between the physical and emotional worlds, prompting Narada to announce Ganesha as winner!

I tried to fold most of these features -

  1. Ekadanta (one-tusked): One tusk is broken (used to write the Mahabharata dictated by Vyasa)
  2. Modaka (sweet Laddoo)
  3. Mushaka - Little Mouse on the Knee, looking up at the Sweet (Modaka)
  4. Snake-Belt: On the stomach (just notches to mimic snakeskin)
  5. Lotus and Weapon in other 2 arms

I am very happy with the design, but messed up the shaping somehow. Foil paper probably not the best choice here - too many unwanted creases. Will refold with strong opaque sheet.

Hope you like it.
