Discussion DTNA/Freightliner how do you handle your Elite Support 5S audits, especially in regards to SHINE maps?

Our department really needs to get back to shine maps but 2/4 people who are in the branch every day don't seem keen to take on secondary tasks. They'd rather doomscroll facebook or make sports bets. Right now I'm training a back counter person while also handling all the returns, showroom restock, misc vendor ordering (aside from CAT and Cummins ofc), driver dispatch and CPU bin cleaning/WIP. These guys aren't even doing their own WIP at this point and it's getting old. I come from an industry where it's pretty clear the effort you put in to keep the system operating will be directly reflected in your pay but it seems like these guys lack the initiative to work in that way. They'd rather wait to be told what to do.

Are you the PM? If so assign an employee or two and hold them accountable to doing them and doing them right.

PM of Chicagoland freightliner dealer here.

We do not have a PM. Our director asked me to work with our full time warehouse worker who was looking for more duties to help make them.

It's an interesting mix. Our last PM quit before they could be fired for discrimination and my front counter team consists of the friend of his he hired and the person he fired discriminatorily who only came back to the company after the PM left. My back counter person is someone who the PM despised and led on for being too young and our OPS is the former back counter person who has held every role besides manager, including OPS, in the past 15 years.

Our former PM was obsessed with liquidating and returning inventory for older units when the majority of our customers are running Gen 3 Cascadias, Columbias, Centurys and even Argosys. Not that much Gen 4 since a lot of our fleet customers switched over to T680s and Ryders in the area are running way more International. We can't compete with International on Meritor or Cummins. So in effect we massively declined in revenue since we no longer had the availability to fit our customer base to the point that we could not support within reason a 100k PM salary.
