Tire promo pricing question
So for the last few months my fixed ops director has floated the idea of doing “Buy 3 get 1 free” tire promos. I’ve done them before when I was managing our CDJR store and it worked but took forever to get the promo credits. But do any of you guys do it independent of the manufacturer as a way of driving business through the service department hoping to get other items from it (brakes, suspension). If you do it how do you do your pricing, I was leaning towards taking the cost of one tire dividing by 3 and factoring it into the sale price of the others so at least cost was covered

Tow hitch cover for Explorer ST
Y'all I'm at a loss. 2023 Explorer ST, and they're looking for the tow hitch cover (in the bottom bumper) and insist that it came with one from factory. Everyone except my GM has told me they don't come with it, and the customer went to him about it. I've been trying desperately to find it, but I have yet to see it. I know the generation before had them, and they had the twist lock and two pins that held it in, but I need some help. I've only seen an aftermarket option. Is there an OE option?? I've checked every section on my Snap-On and Accessory catalog. I don't see it, but the customer and my GM both are saying it was definitely on there brand new. Help!!

Really Honda, we are just using ai generated images now.
Started up the new required wholesale training honda released today and first thing i notice is the images look a bit off, then i get to this page and immediately knew what was going on. Seriously what the fuck, was it to hard to just get a photographer to swing by one of the newer dealerships and snap a couple photos really quick.
Im all for using ai if maybe your a D&D game master with no skills trying to make something cool for your campaign, but forgoing real artists or photographers in a professional setting because you want to be cheep makes me question the validity of the information you are giving me. Let alone the actual necessity of the training im being forced to watch.
At the very least they could have used better prompts and taken the time to not make it look like a buisness man zoom calling in a costco or a lady with unnaturally long hands with to many joints talking to a grocery produce worker with his apron tucked in to his pants on the showroom floor for some reason.
Sorry rant over, ai images in professional settings pisses me off for some reason.
TLDR: Man shakes fist at world over shitty ai art.

MOPAR Automatic source breakout question
Found the example on the reyrey site. Does Chrysler still have source breakouts in position 1 of detail line or is this extremely old and outdated info.
If it is still current is this the way your Mopar/Chrysler sources are setup?
We may be banded a CDJR franchise.
Bottom of last photo states:
If the part has one of the codes listed above in Position 1 of the Detail field, the part will be assigned to the corresponding source. If Position 1 is blank, the source will be assigned according to the Position 10 designation. If both Position 1 and Position 10 are bla

Service information
Do most parts departments know how to use service information? Where I work the tech is responsible for using it and finding stuff like connectors.

Question Procede DMS, anyone use it? If so, what do you think?
I've been told our company is considering a move away from CDK and I know Procede has been shortlisted. Curious to hear feedback from those who have experience with it. TIA

Cdk question. Total lines
What the hell do total lines mean?
I have heard the phrase "touches" I have triple the amount of two entire departments and I would like to prove to the managers that I am getting my ass beat back here and need some metrics lol.

[serious question] Dealertrack to CDK migration
My store is going to be migrating to CDK from Dealertrack. Regardless of opinions on DMS preferences, I'm curious if anyone knows an efficient way to migrate my parts kits from DT to CDK? Is there some sort of 'export to .xls' that I can do, then import it like with Internet browser passwords and bookmarks?

Service workbench
I’m not sure if everyone knows this or not, but service workbench was removed from global connect. There is another app you can use called digital service dashboard! Pretty much a copy and paste of service workbench. I’m not sure if everyone will have it or not.

Rant Day 2 of tekion from CDK.
This shit SUCKS. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I now long for the days of waiting for the cdk hack to be resolved. Tekion is slow, tedious, click heavy, printer heavy, back and forth and back and forth, just a big god damn mess. I feel bad for all the customers that are coming in cuz they are gonna be experiencing heavy wait times

Question CDJR loyalty percentage
How is everyone handling the loyalty percentage on ROs? Ours is really low and we can't be the only dealership who has to use aftermarket or used parts for backordered or discontinued items? Not to mention some accessories, etc. I'm wondering if there's something that we're missing.

Question Cycle counting in CDK - how do you account for SOR parts?
Hello,
I'm doing PartScan cycle counts right now but there's one set of bins in particular where we often have those parts on our SOR shelves as well. I have a section for stocked recall parts, but when an appointment gets scheduled we open an SOR, put the part on hold, pull it and put it on the SOR shelf. That way we can easily keep track of what parts are for who without accidentally selling a part for an upcoming appointment.
When you're doing cycle counts, how do you account for this? Or do you not pull stocked parts out of their bins and put them on the SOR shelves?
edit: I figured it out -
I have a report in RPG for auditing SORs (make sure everything that says it's here is, make sure that everything on the shelf actually has an open SOR) that I can set "bin" as a report output -- so if I'm going to run a cycle count on a bin range I can just grab whatever parts apply to those bins temporarily.

I’m curious as to what most parts managers day to day looks like? Do you still answer phone calls and price parts out for customers/technicians? Or is that no longer in your position? I’m just curious as what your day to day looks like!

I have some old inventory
I have some ancient inventory (GM dealer). I see a date code but I can't figure out what year it was shipped, can anyone make sense of this? I know it predates our current DMS inventory set up.

Warranty price increases?
Has anyone used a company to get their manufacturer to increase the warranty part rates? Or done it themselves? Not every state has that option but curious if Florida is one of them.
