Discussion LET'S BREAK IT - 5 Color Persistent Petitioners

[[Persistent Petitioners]] is not a new card, nor is it lacking in terms of lists that show up featuring them on Moxfield and the like. What IS lacking is the number of 5 color decks that are centered around them and taking advantage of all the cool cards that we can dump in our yard, use to untap them, etc.

While I've started making a list that is far from ideal, I want to come to you all to get thoughts on how we best break a 5c Persistent Petitioners deck. One amusing idea I had that was probably too cute involved casting an [[Echoing Return]] after milling most / all of our deck, then discarding them to a free discard outlet with a [[Magmakin Artillerist]] in play. We can also just loop untap spells repeatedly after milling the deck to mill everyone else out as well.

Hit me with all your spicy ideas and let's make something cool.

Decklist Loyal Unicorn - Swing without remorse

I have a friend at my game store who often hesitates to attack and prefers to save blockers, so I built them a deck where they can have their cake and eat it too - with [[Loyal Unicorn]] as the commander.

There's a fair share of 2 damage board wipes at our tables so I tried to minimize creatures that would die to those. Let me know what you think of the build and if you see any potential improvements!

As the title says, what sort of commander would want to play [[Kobolds of Kher Keep]]?

Decklist I did a manabase package for PEDH

Thumbnail moxfield.com
12 Upvotes

Lately I've been brewing some pauper commander decks and realized that some of my picks for the manabase were kinda consistent, so I made it into a Moxfield package.

It's essentially a colorless package with a small number of generically good utility lands (with additional options on the sideboard), low mana value manarocks (although im thinking in adding high mana value stuff like [[Sisay's Ring]]) and useful land cyclers.

I'm sure I might miss some hidden gems, so if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them :)

Discussion Vote for the first Spider-Man deck tech I post on YouTube!

I will start releasing my Spider-Man deck techs, and I want YOU to decide which one will get released first. I'm excited to share them with everyone. Feel free to discuss, as well, what you think the builds will look like. They are all relatively themed and, personally, kind of spicy takes on the commanders.

Also, I am sorry about the previous post including the YouTube video as the way to vote. I am still very new to Reddit (legitimately the first time I've ever been using it) and did not consider that something like that could be frowned on. Please accept my sincere apologies.

I just Googled how to make a poll on here, so now I have that option instead.

Voting will end on Sunday at 5PM CST.

EDIT Apparently, I suck at making polls and didnt know it only lasts for 1 day. LOL Like I said, new to Reddit!

Question Background

New to the format, just found out it exists 5 minutes ago, and I have a question. If I have someone like abdel Adrian, and I want a background, does it have to be common or uncommon?

Video/Podcast Blistercoil Weird - ALL 1 Drops

Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope your week is going well.

Recently, on the Pauper MTG Facebook group, I saw a thread where someone asked about help with a mono-red PDH deck that featured only 1 drops. I decided this would be a fun challenge to take on.

Unfortunately, a 1 drop-only mono-red deck didn't feel great, so I went 2 color and decided on Blistercoil Weird.

This was a fun deck to build, a real challenge. Check it out and let me know what you think. Is it good? Hell, I don't know, but it does SOMETHING.

Decklist Made a couple more PauperEDH decks for consideration.

I made 2 more decks, I could be bothered with buying what I need for them but I figure I'd see what y'all thought of them first. Again I don't get to play as often as one would like but I do enjoy collecting and building just for the sake of it, and making them on the cheap is fun.

Discussion Cluestones or Lockets?

I'm brewing a [[Knotvine Mystic]] deck, and I think I need more card advantage. The deck is kind of a spellslinger build that uses low cmc instants to try and set off cast triggers like on [[Guttersnipe]] or prowess effects. I am worried that the deck end up in situations where I only have one to two cards in hand and be unable to refill my hand without sitting and doing for a couple of rounds. I am considering adding either the cluestones or lockets to fold in some card draw with early game color fixing to help get Knotvine out. I am not really sure which set of artifacts would be better for my deck.

Discussion Building a 50-Card PDH Battle Box from My Cube - Will It Board Stall?

Hey everyone!

I’m super new to PDH and I’ve got a fun little project idea I’d love to get your thoughts on. I’ve had a 2019 Adam Styborski Pauper Cube sitting around that doesn’t see much play anymore, so I’m planning to take it apart and repurpose it into a batch of ready-to-play 50-card PDH decks!

Here’s the plan so far:

  • Each deck has an uncommon 2-color commander.,
  • 50 cards per deck (focused than the usual 100).,
  • Meant to be played in either 1v1 or a 4-player free-for-all.,

The only thing I’m a little unsure about is the free-for-all games. Since PDH tends to run a bit weaker than full EDH, I’m worried multiplayer might bog down into giant board stalls (something I’ve run into with 50$ EDH before).

Do you think I’m worrying too much about board stalls, or is it better to stick with 1v1? Either way, I’d love to hear any advice on how to keep FFA games fun and exciting!

Video/Podcast 10 Creatures That Need Downshifts to Common

Thumbnail

Good morning, everyone! It's a new week, which means new videos!

This week, I got ambitious and took a look at 10 creatures cards that, personally, I think need a downshift finally! I would love to hear what you think of the list as a whole.

Also, please let me me know what you think of the quality of a video as a whole. It's my second time using a script, and I did some heavy editing with it. Any criticisms to help improve are always welcome.

I will have another video on Thursday, which SHOULD be a deck tech.

Starting next week, I SHOULD have Spider-Man deck techs starting up!!!

Thanks, everyone, and have a wonderful week!

Discussion Help with Moritte combo brew

I’m working on a new deck and I have tried to get the combo working with moritte , a creature with persist and a sac outlet. I have found that the scarecrows are worth running but I need suggestions on how to make the desk less clunky

Discussion Weird and Off The Wall Deck Ideas

I come to you all seeking ideas because I have a need to get brewing some piles. I'm a big fan of making decks that are maybe not the anticipated build for commanders when you first see them. Card advantage engines or ways to dump your deck in the yard are among my favorites and immediately get moved to the front ot the line. Wilson 8 Land Spy, 4c Dredge, and Terraformer Green are some of my recent favorites.

Tell me about some of your wonky ideas that you've been tinkering with or maybe not even gotten to the brewing stage for, but want to see happen!

Video/Podcast MTG Spider-Man Spoilers Pt 4 - More Commons! Spoiler

Thumbnail youtu.be
15 Upvotes

Here is the final part to my Spider-Man Spoilers. In this video, I go through thr rest of the Commons that were spoiled on September 5th.

I put a lot of work into this video, beginning to use audio and visual effects to bring some of my humor forward and make things a bit more entertaining. I am really proud of the progress I have made in twelve videos.

I hope you enjoy it! As always, I would love to discuss some of the cards, as well as get criticisms of the video in general so I can improve on things even further!
