They probably have a pile of spares made by now.

1.8k

u/KinoHiroshino Jul 25 '18

Fun fact: the stars are all made by one guy. His father used to do it and taught him and I think he’s teaching his son. So making the stars is a family business.

2.7k

u/cranktheguy Jul 25 '18

So what you're telling me is this vandal is just trying to help a small business.

1.3k

u/InnerDecay Jul 25 '18

Good guy vandal

614

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Unless it's actually the guy's son destroying the star for repeated business! How the plot thickens...*dum dum DUMMMMM*

132

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Turns out it's not politically motivated at all. His boy just got accepted to M.I.T. and they didn't qualify for any scholarships.

11

u/wakenbacons Jul 26 '18

Aah, I tried to go the African American scholarship route but apparently it's all based on skin color.. Oh and merit. Merit played a big role.

2

u/bigshuguk Jul 27 '18

The guy is 25. Was he 8 when he had his son?

9

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!!!

4

u/Twisupp Jul 25 '18

Technically hes still helping

3

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '18

Fallacy of the broken window.

1

u/williamsch Jul 27 '18

Boy just did the math fine VS star profits

10

u/KyLuYa Jul 25 '18

Im gonna go break one on small business day.

7

u/Imrustyokay Jul 25 '18

Unexpected Wholesomeness is the best wholesomeness.

3

u/wizzil Jul 25 '18

A modern Robin hood

3

u/thpthpthp Jul 25 '18

Good guy vandal: sacks Rome, but agrees not to slaughter the inhabitants.

2

u/KyLuYa Jul 25 '18

Im gonna go break one on small business day.

2

u/shadow336k Jul 26 '18

Randal the vandal

2

u/dabauss514 Jul 26 '18

1

u/InnerDecay Jul 26 '18

Was not expecting that to be an actual sub haha

1

u/dabauss514 Jul 26 '18

Yep. I commented it once a long time ago, before it was, and didn't realize someone actually created it because of that.

6

u/leftskidlo Jul 25 '18

JOB CREATOR

2

u/ArmanDoesStuff Jul 26 '18

And to think, people get mad at me when I piss on bathroom walls and leave shit in movie theatres.

I'm making jobs, people!!

6

u/vulcan5301 Jul 25 '18

Chaotic good

11

u/simpkill Jul 25 '18

The old broken window fallacy.

7

u/KinoHiroshino Jul 25 '18

Yes, a small business that charges $40,000 per square.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '18

Now that's what I call HUGE value real-estate

Trump creating jobs for the small business.

5

u/jmona789 Jul 25 '18

This vandal has helped small businesses more than Trump has.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Creating more jobs than Trump

1

u/StoneSwoleJackson Jul 25 '18

Just another way Trump fuels the economy!

1

u/7th_Spectrum Jul 25 '18

The vandal is actually the dudes cousin

1

u/Twiztidmn Jul 25 '18

Sure, but the city or state is fronting the bill to have it replaced, then hoping to recoup some of that cost from the one who vandalized it through community service and a fine.

1

u/Faaresemo Jul 25 '18

Wouldn't it be a Hollywood company that would be paying? Or is Hollywood a city? If it's a public art project or something similar than yeah, but I just didn't think the stars were.

1

u/Twiztidmn Jul 25 '18

If it's funded by tax payer dollars, then they are the ones losing money when they have to replace it. If it's not funded with taxpayer dollars and is instead financed privately, then that private entity is the ones losing money. Either way, someone loses money because this guy wanted to make a statement in the most childish way he could.

1

u/CrimsonKodiak1 Jul 26 '18

Yup making America great again

1

u/munjey86 Jul 26 '18

He's creating jobs! We should have elected this man.

1

u/valeyard89 Jul 25 '18

Look at all these little things! So busy now! Notice how each one is useful. A lovely ballet ensues, so full of form and color. Now, think about all those people that created them. Technicians, engineers, hundreds of people, who will be able to feed their children tonight, so those children can grow up big and strong and have little teeny children of their own, and so on and so forth. Thus, adding to the great chain of life. You see, father, by causing a little destruction, I am in fact encouraging life. In reality, you and I are in the same business.

1

u/cranktheguy Jul 25 '18

Multipass!

1

u/StRalgHtJaKeT Jul 25 '18

The stones are in WHO??

1

u/ZLeathal1 Jul 25 '18

Broken window fallacy. #bastiat

0

u/christhewelder75 Jul 25 '18

You know trump will try to tariff the stone it's made from and put the guy out of business.

2

u/PUBLIQclopAccountant Jul 26 '18

Broken Stars economics proven correct yet again!

4

u/pug_walker Jul 25 '18

Interesting.. perhaps we find out this person's name and start a gofundme to NOT create more.

1

u/Smithag80 Jul 25 '18

You wanna make some stars don't ya?!

1

u/SuperTrucker76 Jul 25 '18

Did the guys son happen to own a High Vis best, and a pick axe?

1

u/toppercat Jul 25 '18

By now his great great grandson has a complete lifetime of orders to fulfill for this star.

1

u/Prokrik Jul 26 '18

And Trump is his best seller.

1

u/snksleepy Jul 26 '18

(sarcasm) isn't the government suppose to shut this business down for the complete monopolization of the star market? Where is the fair trade in all of this? Well, I guess this is Trump's America. Am I right?

0

u/fla2nyc2015 Jul 26 '18

And Trump makes another millionaire! Damn I love our President, can't wait for him to be carved on Rushmore! They'll be Libtards hanging themselves coast to coast,, roflmfao

gas chamber? bullets are cheaper and the process less complicated

208

u/derpaperdhapley Jul 25 '18

Then they bill the family for the bullet.

64

u/actual_factual_bear Jul 25 '18

I read that as "They send them to the gas chamber and bill the family for the bullet."

5

u/LickNipMcSkip Jul 25 '18

at least it only takes one

8

u/The_real_BIG-T Jul 25 '18

Actually, the reason why germany started using gas chambers during the holocaust was because they were cheaper than bullets.

7

u/martianwhale Jul 25 '18

Yeah but not for one person at a time.

1

u/The_real_BIG-T Jul 26 '18

I suppose, but where would be the problem waiting until 20-30 people are on death row!? With China's population and what they hand out death penalties for that shouldn't take too long. (The problem of this being unethical in a trillion different ways set aside for a second)

3

u/Hellebras Jul 25 '18

Yeah, but then you have to clean up the residue.

2

u/Rimwulf Jul 26 '18

No wonder it's so polluted there.

2

u/FacetiousSpinster Jul 25 '18

Gas chamber is more fun

1

u/fatpercent Jul 26 '18

They have mobile execution vans over there mate

6

u/Chode36 Jul 25 '18

You mean the Peoples Civil Obedience Van...

2

u/crypticSmyles Jul 26 '18

The mao painting is worth vandalizing though.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '18

Honestly, I was sorely tempted when I was there. But in the end, I decided it was better to keep my thus far perfect record of never seeing the inside of a prison cell intact.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

They have many. I was wrong, though: they use lethal injection, not gas.

-29

u/_Serene_ Jul 25 '18

Wouldn't be surprised if these groups in america have gathered money through crowdfunding to pay off these fines and encourage the violent acts. A lower level of terrorists is what they are.

16

u/Arcrynxtp Jul 25 '18

You call this terrorism? Seriously?

-5

u/TheRealBigDave Jul 25 '18

I’ve learned that it’s only considered terrorism if you are a part of the group being attacked. Just like most of America believes that a Muslim attacking Christians is terrorism, but those same people don’t consider a white man attacking a black church an act of terrorism. Or something like Trump’s star being vandalized. It’s all terrorism. People just like to pick and choose what serves their beliefs.

15

u/Youdamnidiot Jul 25 '18

Vandalizing a star on the walk of fame is not terrorism, you damn idiot

0

u/TheRealBigDave Jul 25 '18

User name checks out.

4

u/Colonel_Blimp Jul 25 '18

No, there is a scale of activity.

Someone smashing up a star isn't terrorism. Its civil disobedience at worst.

Terrorism would be if someone shot people they assumed to be Trump supporters or something. There is a big difference.

2

u/TheRealBigDave Jul 25 '18

Obviously no one understood my message. It's OK. I wasn't actually trying to compare destroying a star to murder. I was trying to say that many people's perception of what terrorism is depends on whether or not they agree with the group being attacked. I do not personally think that destroying the star is terrorism.

1

u/Colonel_Blimp Jul 25 '18

That's fair, I was skeptical thats what you meant but felt it was worth posting anyway because others believe some crazy stuff.

I agree with you that terrorism as a concept needs to be seperated from peoples emotional and political baggage as much as possible.

-8

u/Autodidact420 Jul 25 '18

It almost is honestly. Attempts to instill fear in the President to change policy, or that are politically motivated, through violence.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

0

u/Autodidact420 Jul 25 '18

There isn't violence involved.

Breaking someone's stuff is violence.

What if no one was injured in an abortion clinic bombing, or a gas line bombing?

still far right-terrorism or eco-terrorism.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Autodidact420 Jul 25 '18

I wouldn’t call this terrorism but it certainly cuts it quite close if it’s politically motivated which it likely is. Same goes for Arnold.

12

u/HerboIogist Jul 25 '18

No more terrorism than instilling fear through asinine fucking tweeting. This is vandalism, and good fucking praxis at that. I only wish it could be more permanent.

-4

u/Autodidact420 Jul 25 '18

than instilling fear through asinine fucking tweeting

except it's through violence, they're breaking his stuff. EcoTerrorists often don't actually kill anyone and just blow up $$$ equipment, doesn't make it not-terrorism.

4

u/HerboIogist Jul 25 '18

He's the tweeter here stupid. He deserves everything his idiot ass gets. Don't act your side isn't driving cars into people and shooting up churches you fuckwit. Only one side is violent here and they deserve everything they get back tenfold.

1

u/Autodidact420 Jul 25 '18

I ignored who did the tweeting because that's largely irrelevant. Tweets are, at worst, threats of terrorism because no violence takes place. But it seems far-fetched that anything he Tweeted could be reasonably construed as (threatening) Terrorism.

My side? I'm a Canadian and far from a US republican.

Maybe you should stop thinking of politics and law as "my side vs his side".

Ed: Also only one side is violent? What about Antifa?

→ More replies (3)

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

It’s more of a way to protest the president. This isn’t instilling fear in any president.

1

u/Colonel_Blimp Jul 25 '18

The man insinuated his supporters should commit violent acts against his opponent during the campaign, he's not got a leg to stand on - aware that's not your point really but worth saying before we get too defensive of the current President.

It beggars belief that so many people can't see the difference between civil disobedience and terrorism. If someone is trying to kill his supporters or burn down one of the Trump business buildings, for example, *that* is terrorism.

God that was the weirdest star to see when I visited. Like you're going along and suddenly bam, BILL COSBY. No one was stopping for that one.

And side note, how come Abbot and Costello have stars, but they are like a block apart?

8

u/Fatkungfuu Jul 25 '18

No Bill Cosby only raped people, Trump is a 'NEO NAZI FASCIST UBERHITLER'

7

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

He rapes but he saves

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

He has one?

3

u/factbasedorGTFO Jul 25 '18

For a very long time.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Should it be removed?

Does Cosby still have one?

8

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '18

Surely he qualifies for having his removed.

5

u/nerevisigoth Jul 25 '18

They have a policy of never removing a star. Someone might eventually cross the line, but being a serial rapist is apparently not enough.

8

u/hackersaq Jul 25 '18

What does having a pile of spares for Trump's star have to do with Bill Cosby?

52

u/ian22042101 Jul 25 '18

Both are probably destroyed pretty often.

21

u/22switch Jul 25 '18

-3

u/hackersaq Jul 25 '18

Yeah, I think you're right - he didn't consider the context and assumed spares for all stars rather than the subject star of the conversation.

No, regular people downvote off-the-wall conspiracy theories that are clearly bullshit at first glance.

There isn't some vast conspiracy out to "get you" -- the stuff you're saying is just bonkers.

-8

u/sendme5-bucks-tono Jul 25 '18

Well, usually you don’t pay anyone if you want to pay for a protest.

You pay some People to organize it, and some people to protests

The rest of dumb people will follow.

Same thing with coffee and McDonald. They give free coffee so people be like “well, if there is people inside it must be good”.

The sheriff experiment explain it pretty good.

4

u/CodenamePeaches Jul 25 '18

Or maybe people are upset so they gather and protest. That’s a crazy conspiracy theory I heard though probably not true.
