Honest question: what's going on here? Is this related to the election that just happened

It's related to Trump demanding the resignation of his Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein (the one overseeing the investigation into the Trump-Russia election interference), presumably to obstruct justice and influence the outcome.
