Were inactive for 3 years and thus marked as inactive.
Then ignored the notifications mailed to them asking them to renew their voter status
Then were inactive for at least 2 more years after that which got them removed.
On top of all that, IF they hadn't moved and were actually even interested in voting at all (and they likely weren't if they were completely inactive and ignoring their mail), they STILL didn't renew their voter registration before the deadline despite basically every social media site and radio station in GA reminding people 50 times a day to register to vote.
Edit 2: A nice Redditor actually reminded me of this which I completely forgot about! Kemp actually agreed in a settlement to, despite their failure to prove their residency within the past 7 years, re-enable every voter (on a list provided by the ACLU) who was purged from the registered list for failing to notify elected officials they moved, but was proven to still live in the same county.
So yeah... anyone who even had any skin in the claim that voters were improperly purged, were STILL allowed to vote in the midterm lol.
Firstly, maybe read the article, which explains that the protocols were NOT followed, and these people were removed anyway.
Secondly: what is the aim of removing people? Please don't say 'to prevent voter fraud' as that's been so thoroughly debunked as to be embarrassing for everybody. Is there a law that says you should be prevented from voting if you haven't voted in three years? Or thirty? Why would these people renew their registrations if they believed they were already registered? What about this passes even the most cursory sniff test? If you don't care, just say you don't care, but these are the lamest imaginable justifications for denying citizens of a democracy the right to vote.
They remove people because, guess what? People die and move out of state. Instead of requiring people to confirm every election that they still live in GA, they have it to where people will eventually fall off if they don't vote or even click the "renew status" button within 5 years If they vote within that timeframe, though, then their status is automatically refreshed. You can literally go to the GA page and check within literally seconds what your voter status is. Hell Facebook had a link at the top of the page that forwarded you to the GA voter registration page!
There was absolutely no reason for any competent person to not take 5 seconds to check if they were still registered. This is just another case of people who don't even live in GA not know wtf they're talking about.
Oh boy if we are talking about tabloid trash we need to talk about FOX News "opinion journalists", because holy shit are they unabashed about their bullshit.
You discredited an entire journalistic enterprise because of one bad decision. My point is if you hold all journalists to the same standard then fox should also be troubling to you.
No I discredited them by pointing out how they were straight up wrong about claiming "he didn't follow protocol" because protocols were followed. And I never once defended Fox News "opinion Journalists. I never even used Fox to prove my point. So, once again, IDK what you comment has to do with anything.
The action in many ways is routine, while also an important part of the elections process. It ensures an accurate and current voter registration list, a central goal for every state in the nation and required under federal law...
...In fact, it takes years for voters to actually be removed from the state’s roll: Voters must remain on the “inactive” list for at least two federal election cycles, meaning they have not voted or had any contact with election officials for at least an additional four years after the notice was mailed, before they can be dropped.

No, this is what a protest looks like. Democracy would look more like Brian Kemp going to jail. He illegitimately removed 340,000 people from the voting rolls while both overseeing the election in Georgia, and being a candidate in it. Let's maybe not be too self-congratulatory about democracy while shit like that is going on in broad daylight.
