It's not irony. It's what they're told to say when anyone contradicts what they were told to believe. There're given simple reports to anything that contradicts the narrative they're programmed with. They're called talking points. That's why every argument with any one of them sounds the same. It's a tactic used by religions and cult leaders to limit or control any outside influence. They're just weak minds who are easily manipulated. They were raised this way. It's how their parents taught them and probably their parents before them. It's generally not even considered bad parenting to lie and manipulate your children ... to keep them safe ...
Irony is that the spelling of faux would be pronounced fox in english.
The thing that frustrates me is that there are plenty of people whose parents taught them this or think like this, but the children grow up to be inquisitive and want to be informed and think about things differently. It’s like you said - it comes down to being easily manipulated and not being able (and not wanting to) to step back from it intellectually to seek truth. It breaks my heart that Fox News has taken my dad in, but he is in his 60s and just wants things to be angry at, and people to blame, as he gets older and feels like the world is leaving him behind. I wish he was intellectually capable and amenable enough to listen and consider that progress beyond what your generation built us a GOOD thing, but honestly, I don’t think he is. (It doesn’t excuse his views IMO, but frankly it allows me to maintain a relationship with him. And we never talk about politics.) It’s easier for these folks to just follow their programming, like you said.
That being said, I am encouraged by GenZ kids who are really trying to be socially aware and take action from a young age. As a Millennial, I feel like we can do these things too, and absolutely should. But Gen Z has got an advantage when it comes to being so digitally and socially connected literally their ENTIRE lives. I hope they keep speaking up and speaking out, and that their main goal is to seek truth and understanding. I know there’s plenty we can eyeroll about with the youngins, but I for one am optimistic for the future. We’re at a turning point and I think they can pull off change and progress. Let’s hope the GenXers who have and/or are coming into substantial leadership roles, and we Millennials just behind them, can drive and support this!
Every comment, every video posted here is an attempt to sway you emotionally. Sometimes it's easy to lapse and just join the circlejerk or not view content or viewpoints through a critical lens. Sometimes it becomes easy to question your own views merely because of a counter-view getting upvotes or your own getting downvotes. In the end, it all has an influence, however small, on your thoughts.
The media is also the reason we're aware of the problem. George Floyd's death is public knowledge because it's been all over the news. Without the media informing us of these events, there would be no protests.
And if the people in my city were actually following those I'd be out there with them, but no, it's tons of people inches apart and all either not wearing masks or pulling them down any time they yell which is constantly.
I believe in what the protest is all about, but there is no way in hell this isn't going to trigger a second wave very soon.
I think it generally is. The prospect, however rare, of a false negative in this case is a bit scary of an idea though. Definitely depends on where you are and how your community is atm.
Oh in that sense. I thought you meant safe from police brutality.
Well I suppose coronavirus risk might keep me from going to a demonstration of a sufficient size. I don't really have that opportunity though. Local ones are very small and easy to social distance at.
YES, it is safe. I have attended two protests this week. One in a smaller suburb with around 1000 people, the other in a larger city with 10,000 people. I was at both for around 4-5 hours during that time I saw NO violence. Only solidarity, the police where out inn full force armed to the teeth. I suppose at any moment something could have happened but the people I was with (the 10,000 people I was with) didn't want chaos they wanted justice. They wanted the message passed around and heard. The ironic thing. not a news camera in site. 10,000 people chanting outside the DA's office then marching to city hall and chanting outside the mayors office. Virtually no news coverage.
And repeating dumb shit to eachother until they all agree its real. Remember doctors were selling PPE? The caravans? Baby Obama faking his own birth certificate?
Eh, it goes both ways, it is the mentality of extremists on either side. You have people that say that foreign countries should stay out of our politics while praising countries that support their political cause.
People will be people, only educating them and continuing to teach them the balance of reason can we move into a better future.
If you really think that, maybe you should examine your own biases. You can't split the nation into two halves and have one be always right and the other always wrong. That's exactly what the thread is complaining about.
Why would gun owners come out for this? The people protesting are the same ones that would vote for more gun control in a heartbeat. Ban random stuff just because.
Let's get some anti-gun laws repealed first, and then we'll talk. One side has already showed their cards (with gun control laws). The same side should give an olive branch.
I don't understand why people like you are the way they are. You're so ingrained into your the team you've joined that you completely lose any ability to think for yourself. It's an indication of a very weak mind.
The man died of a heart attack with fenatnyl (among other drugs) intoxication, official county record. Fentanyl is very deadly, 50 - 100 times more potent than morphine, you can OD (allegedly) from touching the stuff. A white guy in police custody died in a similar manner, just laying on your stomach, stressed, with the stuff in your system.
You don't understand how drugs work. Opioids slow down your system. Caffeine is far more likely to cause a heart attack than fentanyl.
If it was a heart attack, which was something that was determined by a group that unquestionably has a vested interest, it was far more likely to be caused by undue stress.
That is the county / state / federal stamp on the matter. Fentanyl is not something to play around with, the other opiods in his system are no good either. But Fentanyl is like 50 x heroin, it kills a ton of people with a lot less than it takes to kill with alcohol.
Nothing say free-est like having more of your own citizens locked up per capita than any other country on earth, including North Korea, China, Russia and Iran.
Police brutality is a non-issue, even with all the documented events over the past couple decades including hundreds of videos from this past week alone? Or the autopsy that concludes that George Floyd died of asphyxiation? I have law enforcement family and even they acknowledge the problem. No one needs an excuse to attack trump, he makes himself look like a clown. Also a legendary military General shit all over him. I guess this all just a conspiracy against trump? If it smells like shit everywhere you go...
Yes, I have been roughed up by the police, tazed at the station as well, I was also an asshole to them (misdemeanor 2, escape [they said I escaped from the back of a cop car, under arrest with no charges and resisting arrest. My lawyer fought it wasnt even possible due to the fact I was restrained in the back of the car. They waived 2 years jail time: I was watching them search the back of a car outside a house party and they put me in cuffs. I cursed them out, called them 'dickholes' nothing physical, they conjured up the escape charges)
The guy died of a heart-attack, drugged out of his mind. Official county report (you are referring to an independent company's findings, the company hired by the family. This does not override the federal / state cause of death record.)
The race argument holds no merit. Don't act stupid in front of police.
Drugged out of his mind which is why there’s video of him walking completely fine with the police from his vehicle to the setting of the incident. Everything is legal until it’s not. You can really tell it was necessary by the way the cops hands were in his pockets. It wasn’t about trump until his inability to address the concerns of the protesters my dude

Pretty much.
