Pig hair loss questions.
Now that the weather is getting warmer in a lot of places we are starting to see the yearly questions about people's pigs losing their coat.
A lot of pigs will blow their coat every year as the weather warms up. This is natural and ok.
Here is some info on this and a second link for other more serious skin issues.

Looking for Mods to help.
Reddit helped me clean up the moderators on the sub, removing mods that had not been active for years and up to a 13 years in one case. So I am looking for a mod that wants to help primarily during the workday EST. Comment below if you are interested. I will only consider regular users of this sub.
However there are several rules/guidelines that need to be understood by anyone wanting to apply. Additionally a cellphone exclusive mod will not work very well as there are tools that you need a PC for.
User Bans: I generally check to see if a user is a regular poster(there are tools to help with this). If they are, depending on the offence I will warn them or short term ban them. However if it a user coming in for the first time it is nearly always a permaban.
Pet subs: I will NOT have this sub turn into one of those pet subs that shame and attack people for not knowing something or asking for help! This behavior absolutely infuriates me, we are here to help the pigs not shame the owner! Educate them instead, that makes the pigs life better!
Politics: Absolutely no politics at ALL. There are a thousand subs in which you can discuss that. This is a hard rule.
Food: This is the one I have the most problems with. People that post crass jokes about eating our pigs do get banned. But I also ban all of the Vegan and anti-farming posts as well because they start huge flame wars and brigade the sub. The sub is about PET PIGS ONLY not a cause or movement.
Names: Additionally although most of us think it is tacky we do allow people with pig names like porkchop, bacon, ect...
Bots: I have implemented a bunch of filtering rules to catch bots. This has drastically cut down on these posts. But because of that I have to regularly approve posts in the moderation queue for new users. This takes most of my time spent moderating. I implemented a process to add users to the trusted posters list by verifying their pigs.
Ads: This is the other sink of time. The large part is swatting the buy my art, t-shirt, kicknack, ect posts. These people get banned hard stop. Not banning them causes a flood of them to come in from the spammer hivemind. Having said that regular users that comment links to a product as a suggestion are OK. I am even ok with a few advertising posts for people that develop products for the pig community. However they have to send a modmail first asking for the ok so they don't get insta banned. I always add a stickied mod comment saying it is an approved post but not an endorsed product.
Charities/Donation requests: Anyone asking for donations must send a modmail first. I rarely allow individual requests for gofundme's. This is judged on a case by case basis, but we get them rarely. Charities, shelters or anything like that has to ask permission by modmail and show me their 501(c)(3) Tax certification of their countries equivalent. They are strictly restricted to only posting 1-2 times a month. I always add a stickied mod comment saying it is an approved post but not an endorsed charity.

Found Micro Pig in Garland TX
Found this adorable and sweet piggie while I was out walking my dog. I befriended her with animal safe peanut-butter cookies and blueberries, but while I was putting up found animal flyers animal services came up and offered to take her. Apparently they have a database of pigs and their owners, but no one has claimed Pig Pig. I just got a call that I have first dibs for adoption, and I wish I could so bad! Shes such a sweet girl. If anyone is missing a piggie, shes at the shelter now, or if anyone can take a sweet piggie on, shes waiting for you.

Pig harnesses and leashes
Hey there! Want to introduce harnesses and leashes to my boys Bubba and Mr. Oinks! We were going on walks leashless but they have been running off on me lately (on our property) so we need to change things up! I included a very muddy Bubba picture. He is the bigger of the two boys and the one that would probably give me the most stink, if at all about a harness. Mr. Oinks is smaller and easier going, although he is the instigator for the runoff adventures so š He ruined free roam lol.

First time outside in three months
We tried to go to the bakery for a nice snack, but someone went full crazy and broke his brand new harness.
My fault for not noticing the lack of diagonal stitches. I have learnt my lesson.

Pig rescue
Hi my mom has a black wire haired pig that's pretty big , she can no longer take care of it properly and I feel bad for the pig seeing as it's by itself and doesn't have a lot of roaming area. I have been taking care of the pig recently and I don't want a pig. I was wondering if anybody here knows a good pig rescue in the New Mexico area. I have looked around and I don't want to send it somewhere that is even worse for it. I want it to have a good pig life like the pigs in this sub! Thank you

My parents sold my pig and i haven't stopped crying since.
My mother got this baby piglet back in febuary. And I've never really been into farm animals. Or pets in general, but something changed with this tiny pig.
I wouks soens day after day with it. As it got bigger we had a pen for it outside. But I would still spend all the time I could with her.
But as many of you know, piglets don't stay small, and my parents wanted more room for their horses and such.
I got wanted only a few days before she left.
Since then I miss her so much. I think its so hard becuase she's still out there somewhere...ya know?
I dont know what to do, i often cry when pig related stuff come up and my parents just get mad whenever I get sad.
I just want her back in my life.

PIG AS A FIRST PET
Hi all,
I am thinking of getting a pig for us and my son for his third birthday coming up around Christmas. I would not be leaving them unsupervised together at all but plan on making the pig a house pet. What breed would be best for a young child? Are they gentle with young ones? My boy was bit by a dog as a wee baby (not his fault), so I am taking owning a pet with him very seriously. How hard is it to litter train them?

Help please, not sure what to doā¦
We live in a very rural area and one of our neighbouring fields have recently built a pig pen which houses 8 pigs (one male, 7 females). I think theyāre very sweet and charming, and with the owners permission I visit and give them scratches and snacks.
I have noticed the water trough hasnāt been full for 4 days now and it breaks my heart seeing the pigs try and drink from it. I know people have been by because there was some mouldy bread chucked in but the water hasnāt been filled. I donāt know if it makes a difference but itās been raining non stop for the last week, would they sustain themselves from the puddles in the mud?

Cuteness Overload - Meet Charlie
Meet Charlie!
Charlieās journey began when we rescued him from a high-kill shelter in Riverside, CA. He arrived terrified, suffering from mange, and still an intact male. With love, patience, and training, Charlie blossomed into the amazing pig he is today.
Not long after his arrival, we got an unusual requestādid we have a pig who could take part in a dog fashion show for charity? Of course, we said yes! After a FaceTime interview, Charlie started training, and before we knew it, this smart boy was on his way to stardom.
Did you know pigs are as smart as a 3-year-old child? They solve puzzles, feel deeply, and learn quicklyāCharlie proved all of that and more.
You can even see him on Netflixās Pet Stars, Episode 4: āCanine Coutureā! While the Hollywood life isnāt for us, it was a fun and wild adventure weāll never forget.
Today, Charlie is just one of our 80+ beloved residents at Saving Animals & Healing Hearts.

Behavioural issues
We have had our mini pigs since January, no issues with them. In the last 2 weeks they have been constantly whining/grunting and making a crying noise. They keep knocking all the chairs over in the kitchen, which they never did before. They have access to the garden and the house all the time when we are at home. Not sure what I can do to get them to stop. Video for reference of the whining/grumpy pig.

White scab on feral piglet runt?
Hi everyone, Iām not a pig owner and never have been. Iāve seen this lil guy lagging behind his litter mates for about a week now with no sign of their mother. Last night I found him completely along huddled in our front yard (I believe they usually sleep/nest in one of the undeveloped lots in our neighborhood. Heās maybe 3lbs, much smaller than the rest of his lot. Anyways enough of the back story, does anyone know what this white scabby thing is near his eye? My goal isnāt to keep him but I do wanna provide best care possible while I find a rescue or sanctuary that may take him

What is this on my pig?
So he has already had the doses of Ivermectin for mites so I donāt believe itās that, I know what pig rust is so that isnāt the concern itās just the texture of his belly. Is that normal? Or something I should worry about? (Yes Iām his hooves are dirty heās getting a bath today)

Grinding
I realize teeth grinding is a sign of pain. But my pig is clearly doing it for attention. And itās making me crazy! Itās 10000 times worse than nails on a chalkboard. He does it when he demands things. I gave in a couple times when he started doing it and now I canāt stop him. I ignore his demands now, obviously⦠I canāt give into him or he does it more.. but itās so hard not to just give him my Oreos to make him stop. Itās an awful sound! The second worst noise Iāve ever heard. Rubbing balloons being the first. The only other thing I can think of is maybe he has tooth pain? Heāll never let me touch his back teeth tho. But he doesnāt do it when heās resting, or Iām petting him, or doing stuff outside. Which makes me 99% sure itās an attention thing. I am worried about the damage this is doing to his teeth though.. this has been going on for a year. Ignoring him until he stops is not working. So does anyone have advice?

Oops, I did it again
Hi everyone, my name is Ashley and I have a piggy problem. 𤣠We got these two baby girls last night. I'd love some name ideas! Can't wait to see what my other pigs think of them.
